About the Inner Mission District-
"La Mision" / "The Mish":
Centrally located close to downtown, it is the city's Latino district & has been the gateway for most new immigrants, initially Italian, Irish, then predominantly Latino since the 1970's .
It is famous for its historic buildings, Mission burritos (the best in Northern California), grungy artistic scene & it's colorful murals.
Though the Mission still retains it's gritty 'barrio' (hood) flavor the neighborhood has been undergoing a second wave of gentrification lately and has been experiencing with an influx of technology money.
The Mission district is large & complex, with varying socioeconomic areas, clusters of mini-communities, and specialty stores found nowhere else. A few years back Utne Reader rated the Inner Mission the 2nd coolest place to live in the US (first was New Orlean's Garden District).
Like in any other cities there are sections of the Mission that can be high crime but don't let that scare you, as a woman I have walked at all hours & never have felt unsafe -awareness & attitude is your best protection. Native San Franciscans know it as one of the 'cool & hip' districts with a Latin flavor & a funky Bohemian edge as well.
Excellent inner Mission location-2 Blocks to 24th BART (metro), short ride from the airport and to downtown, numerous bus lines & Hwys 280 & 101, short walk to J Church street car. The Mission has a community feeling, easy walking sometimes it is better to leave the car and get to know the neighborhood on foot.
The house is near both Valencia & 24th St. corridors w/ great boutiques, restaurants, art galleries & great day & nightlife.
Other Things to Note
I am a 45yr old Latina that runs a small Latinamerican importing business in the Mission. My motto is Mi Casa es su Casa, I am courteous, helpful-you will love my Latin hospitality. I am also an experienced traveler, the last trip I did was to the Caribbean in Honduras (fantastic!).
I am from Mexico originally but grew up in the Bay Area & have lived in SF for 20 years (in this house for 14 +). I also love to dance all kinds of styles but Brazilian Samba is my passion. My other hobbies are hiking, camping, shopping, fashion, antiques & history. I also speak several languages.
I can work a lot so you may see me little, but I am happy to share the best places locals love that are not in guidebooks.

As described, the place is cozy and clean and the neighborhood is just perfect!
I had a great time at Nancy's place. The room was large and clean and so was the bathroom and kitchen.
Nancy is a lovely host and easy to get along with and communicate with. The location is great - The Mission is a great area with a lot of nightlife and good food around. I would definitely recommend Nancy's place to anyone who wants to get away from all the touristy areas and see a real part of the city.
Nancy is a wonderful host, kind and helpful. Although my stay was short, resulting in me being out or asleep at odd times, I felt very welcome and enjoyed the brief chats we did have.
The house is beautiful, the neighboured was exactly what I was looking for - very central to great food, coffee, live venues and super cool people to meet.
I would highly recommend staying here!!!!!
Thank you so much Nancy.
Nancy was great. We only had a couple interactions--I was zipping around while I was out there--but she was completely generous, offered me coffee, gave me the card for her shop, made sure I had everything and was comfortable, etc. The place is lovely--very comfy bed and sort of a perfect little room. Nice light came in, the closet is good (I had nothing to really put in there, but I noticed it, and it's nice!), etc. There's a washer and dryer that came in handy on a patio out back, and it was lovely to sit and read and doze back there while I did some laundry. There's a beautiful fig tree back there. Yes, a really pleasant experience.
I had a very pleasant experience staying at Nancy's home for a week. It is a old blue great looking Victorian house in the mission, very close to a whole variety of amazing bars, restaurants, clubs and shops. Nancy knows the neigborhood very well and can provide you with a great amount of help to direct you in the right place in San Francisco. She will render you a wonderful San Franciscan experience.
Just Wow !!!
Nancy is just awsome, she's the perfect host, helpful and very very nice ! we had good chats, I know SF very well, but she learned me so many things about the city, people etc...
This is just the perfect place if you want to stay in SF. Well located in mission, close to buses (50 meters) and the BART.
You can find a lots of restaurants around the house (Valencia street).
The room was very clean and quiet.
You will love to have a breakfast in the patio or the backyard.
You are in the real heart of SF.
If a have to return to SF, i will stay to nancy's place for sure.
Thanks again Nancy, its was so great to stay with you !
Staying at Nancy's was great. She's a very friendly and laid back host, and the apartment is really nice (big, pretty, clean). The room is large and light and the bed is comfy. The apartment is 2 blocks walk from BART, and within walking distance of loads of great restaurants and cafes. I'd recommend it!

I love to travel, the last place I went was the Caribbean in Honduras (awesome) and I have been day dreaming about my next destination-Colombia. I also love to dance-all kinds but Samba is my religion! If you are interested I can teach you Salsa in 15 mins -yes it's that easy & just enough to fake the rest...
I also love gardening, culture, fashion, camping, history and living in SF.
I like Airbnb because I can taste the travel energy without the actual travel, I have met very interesting & wonderful people & I hope we get a chance to meet.
...p.s. once you know Salsa you also know Cumbia, Merengue, Bachata...
