The Space

For such a reasonable price, your family will enjoy a lovely apartment home which boasts of 100 year old hardwood floors with all the necessary furnishings designed to make your stay a memorable one. This home is spacious with the master bedroom approx. 360 sq ft. The yard is a whopping 1,000 sq.ft. This home is located in the northwest quadrant of the city in the revitalized neighborhood of Columbia Heights. The METRO Subway train, which is about 2 city blocks (a 2-5 min. walk) is perfect for touring Also, in this residential neighborhood, you will find local shuttle services that may be boarded one block away and these shuttles go to many tourist sites. There are bicycles for rent to help you get your exercise and tour the city for pennies. The rentals are reasonable and no worrries about storing these bikes. There are many bike secure stops nearby the tourist areas where you simply mount the bike and rent another one upon your departure. The bike rentals are located in front of the grocery store. The grocery store is open from 6am until 11pm. This makes it convenient to purchase groceries and bring them to this well equipped home to pepare your meals. Every Saturday, local farmers sell their products in the town square in this neighborhood. Taxi cabs are readily available in this residential area as well as directly around the corner in the commercial area. There are also airport shuttles that frequent this area to get you to Dulles Airport or Ronald Reagan Airport.

Interaction with Guests

Communication with the owner is excellent. Communication is via email and occasionally via telephone. We have a Housekeeper and Maintenance man who are available 30 minutes or less from the time a customer calls.

The Neighborhood

METRO Station within walking distance. Loads of sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Bike Rentals steps from the Home. Supermarket also steps from the home. Across the street from the Supermarket, on weekends, the townsquare, with free entertainment becomes a farmers market where local farmers sell their fresh produce. Lovely artwork and handmade jewelry also!

  • Lois didnt care guest in advance. Everything was coming after request.
    Too cold. Can not control the room temp.
    Bunk bed is not in good condition. I got a back pain in the morning.

  • Our stay at Lois' apartment was wonderful. Everything was neat and convenient. Lois was also very helpful and so was Mr. Chiazo. Mr. Chiazo cleaned up the snow and ice on the steps in time. It was so sweet!

  • Everything was neat. When we encounter a slight problem with the heather in the second floor we called and we received immediate attention. It was great! The kitchen is perfect, well equipped. The apartment is soooo well located. I will come back to stay there.

  • This apartment is perfect for any length stay in DC. We were a family of 6 and there was plenty of room. The garden at the back looks like it would be nice in summer but as we were there in winter we did not use it. Very handy to shops and subway I would definitely stay here again.

  • My colleagues and I had a wonderful experience during our stay. Lois is a gracious host, even in absentia. She was responsive and patient, and her property manager, Mr. Chiazo, was most helpful when we had difficulty locating the keys. On the other side of that, Lois was very kind when we couldn't locate the same keys at the end of our stay. While our visit was consumed by a conference, I'm sure Lois would have been very helpful in navigating the city. Should I need to return, I would stay here without a doubt! The apartment was charming. Loved the high ceilings and old radiators. It was well appointed when we arrived, and the beds... wow. So, so comfortable. I haven't slept that well in a very long time. And I need to know where Lois bought those mattresses. Location was ideal. There's a great little pub down the street and the metro and bus are right there. Perfect! Hope I get the chance to stay a second time (and not lose the keys the next time).

  • great for family, the bedrooms on the 2nd floor is actually one big room with a opened doorway with bunk beds on the other side of the doorway. great for family with children.

  • Excellent location. We stayed in the lower level with another couple. We were surprised to find out there was no living room. One of the bedrooms replaced the living room. We were there during Hurricane Sandy and had no place to get together except the downstairs bedroom. There is a nice room off of the hallway which is set up as a dinning room. This would make a very nice family room for the lower level. Property was clean and very quite. I would stay there again.

  • Mr. Chiazo was extremely helpful. The location of the place is very handy.
    The bedding and the deco are of great quality.
    Pictures and wordings were a little misleading (we thought we had the apartment to ourselves but its actually one big house, split into separate quarters). For 6 adults, a bit of a squeeze but for family oriented travellers, this place might suit better.
    Other than a few mishaps here and there (one towel had mould on it and one bed linen was slightly unclean), overall it had been a comfortable and pleasant stay.
