Since I am currently travelling, there may be a chance that there will be another guest in the living room but you will have COMPLETE privacy in the huge bedroom.
I am ONLY open to sublet / share my home-sanctuary to individuals that are reliable, respectful (of my home, belongings, neighbors, and noise level) clean, and trustworthy. It's not a place for you to host parties, but simply to have a New York sweet home away from home while I am out of town.
First off, I just want to let you know that I travel all over the world. I know how important it is to feel as if you have a real "home" away from home. So I will make every attempt to make sure you're safe, comfortable and have an amazing New York experience!
This is a really cute fully furnished 1 bedroom apartment right by Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. You can literally hear the crowd scream when someone hits a home run! Freshly painted throughout. Truly cozy and zen-like warm vibe inside. This is a great, safe, quiet, family oriented neighborhood! There’s a good energy around here with the new Yankee Stadium, restaurants, stores etc. It's only 2 stops away from Manhattan for quick commutes, East AND West side Express Trains D & 4 @ 161ST Street station which basically means that you'll be downtown in no time! The neighborhood is conveniently located and has everything you need. Many people that aren't familiar with this neighborhood have false and a completely inaccurate perception of this neighborhood. There is a stigma from the 80's that is still attached to the neighborhood as being unsafe, violent etc. which is not the case whatsoever. Through the years since then, the area and neighborhood went through drastic changes. The City of New York put a lot of energy and money into gentrifying the neighborhood by building a huge new shopping mall, opening new restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe, building new parks, and making the area more visually appealing. This is also where Hip-Hop was first born which makes it even more historical!
Because of this, as well as the fact that it is 2 stops away from Manhattan, this has become one of the most popular neighborhoods in the Bronx. The apartment is situated 3 blocks away from the world famous Yankee Stadium where tourist and locals visit on a regular basis. This neighborhood is completely safe. I am a short, petite Asian woman who has been living here since 2006. I have come home many nights alone--late at night 3AM and I’ve always been safe. All of my guests have felt the same way too as stated in their reviews.
The train station is just 3 blocks away—5 Minute walk! You have your choice of the D Train (Express Train for the West Side) or 4 Train (Express Train for the East Side)Station: 161st Street/Yankee Stadium--15 minutes to Midtown Manhattan—17 minutes to Downtown--2 stops from Manhattan. Located a few blocks from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Young, hip, conveniently located neighborhood. This is an extremely safe, quiet, family-oriented neighborhood with everything at your fingertips: Hard Rock Café, Spanish Restaurants, Clothing stores, 99cent stores, Target, Best Buy, Marshalls, BJ’s Discount Grocery, Staples, McDonalds, Burger King, Dunkin' Donuts, 2 Diners, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, Subway, Saborros Pizza Chinese Restaurants numerous supermarkets and bodegas, post office, Chase Bank, Wells Fargo, Radio Shack, CVS, a movie theatre and the Bronx Museum. Directly across the street is a Joyce Kilmer Park—Great neighborhood atmosphere with a playground that kids are always playing in, people jogging, kids playing baseball and soccer, people walking their dogs, plenty of benches where a lot of people watch or just chill during the warm seasons of the year—great New York vibe. If you have a car, there is plenty of free street parking. None of my guests has ever had a problem finding a parking space around the building.

For visitors arriving by airplane, the apartment is a 15 minute cab ride from LaGuardia Airport. From JFK International Airport is a 20 minute cab ride. ONLY TAKE YELLOW CABS FROM THE AIRPORT and not from anyone soliciting you for a private cab they will rip you off! Just look for the Taxi stand outside of Arriving flights there will usually be a que you can spot if not, just ask one of the airport workers to point out where the cab stand is. From LaGauardia the ride should be approximately $30 and from JFK should be approximately $45 (both are including the toll you have to pay to cross the Tri-Borough Bridge but not including a tip if you choose.)
A little about me: I’m extremely down to earth and easy going. I stay out of people’s business; but social; I respect people’s privacy and belongings. I prefer to go through life smiling and being happy. I travel often myself so I know how important it is to have peace of mind when travelling to be in a safe, clean and comfortable space to call your own when you’re away from home! Staying at my place is an extremely inexpensive way to visit NY and be 3 stops away from Manhattan!!
Contact me with any questions. I’ll be happy to answer them all! I'm very well-versed in helping visitors make the most of their trip so I can refer bars, restaurants, clubs, great, free going's on in NYC no matter what walk of life you come from! Thanks for stopping by.
Looking forward to making your stay enjoyable.

Lori has a very nice apartement and she gave us clear instructions on how to get there etc. Don't worry about living in the Bronx, it's really not how the media portrays this area - we've haven't been afraid once! The apartment is 5 mins away from the subway station which is very convenient. We stayed in the bedroom and it's a spacious, comfy room. We were very content with our stay!
Just two things: firstly, the water in the shower never stays at one temperature: one second it's hot, the next it's freezing. But that shouldn't be too bad! The other thing is, that there are many rats on the ground floor which we had to pass to get to the door. Luckily the apartment is on the 6th floor, so they only bother you if you go through the entrance ;) It wasn't too big a problem for us, but if there are people amongst you who are afraid of rats you should know that.
All in all we are very happy that we stayed with Lori's. Even though she wasn't present when we were there, she was a great host! We would recommend her to everyone!
Me and my best friend stayed at loris for 4 nights for the most part it was a good stay the only complaint I would have was the hot water that scorched me while using the restroom it's like little drips from the ceiling so be careful. It was a quick, safe, and easy walk to the subway which I loved! For being in the Bronxs I never felt unsafe like others told me I would. Loris is a simple nothing fancy place to say. If you're on a budget this is the place to go!
Stay at Lori´s was great. She provides a lot of information about everything we needed and was quickly available for any questions. The place and neighbourhood was comfortable and close to subway. I recommend this place.
The stay @ Lori's was great! She provides a lot of information about everything we needed and was quickly available for any questions.
Lori's place was very nice and comfortable. My friends and I stayed from January 2nd-January 8th. Lori's house was clean and roomy. Lori provided excellent directions on how to get to the house when you first arrive and if there was any issue it was easy to get a hold of her. Her house is conveniently placed in that it is very close to the subway station and only 15mins to the city. It was a little sketchy going around at night or as soon as the sun set which was early. We were a group of girls so you always had someone with you when walking around. If you are planning on spending alot of time in upper Manhattan and dont mind staying in the Bronx I highly recommend Lori's place. It is very cozy and comfortable to be in regardless of the environment outside. However, if you plan on spending lots of time in mid or lower Manhattan (where everything is at) and rather avoid being sketched out at night or as soon as the sun's down I would look for somewhere else. It was a great place to stay at especially with the budget my friends and I had being college students. We had a great vacation and would love to come back soon!
Generally was a really good experience. Even though at the beginning they were a few aspects to re-arrange, Lori was really aware of it, replying emails and giving solution in few minutes.
In general the house was clean. The neighborhood is ok. I had arrived late at night ( after 12) and I never had any kind of trouble. Subway is near (like 3 blocks away).
Is more than you can ask for paying that cheap at NYC!
It is not a 5 stars hotel, but I will definitely recommend it.
I spent a week in Lori's apartment, everything was great and as I expected from the description on the website. I rented the bedroom, beds were clean and comfortable, I didn't use the kitchen but everything you need was there if you ever need to cook and eat something. Globally the flat was OK, there's a functional heating system (which is nice during winter). The neighborhood was nice and we didn't experienced any issue even late at night, people were nice too. I could go to Central Park in 20 minutes using the subway that's really close to the apartment.
Lori was really nice with me, she answered all my questions quickly when I had, she was really helpful when I needed help and/or tips. Thanks to her, I could enjoy my trip to NY.
Very good apartment! We spent 4 days there and it was a very cozy apartment. The apartment is very clean and the kitchen is very well equiped. The subway is 5 min walking and very near to the yankee stadium. The wifi works very very well.
I recomend it to everybody! We had a great time there!
The apartment was very comfy n cosy as advertised, the poor old plumbing in the shower was a challenge but we managed to get through. Lori was very helpful to us during our stay and assisted where she could as she was on her own little time away. The apartment was very close to the subway, which meant that we could get to all areas easily. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend it to other travellers seeking a tidy place to stay, sleep and explore what New York has to offer. Thanks heaps Lori. Phil, Annie n the girls from Sydney Australia.
