Colle dell'ara is not a hotel. Staying with us, in our home, means treating yourself to a rare experience.
We are in Positano, in the small village of Montepertuso, located just above this corner of paradise on the Amalfi Coast.
The building is situated on top of the hill and can be reached on foot in 5-6 minutes through an ancient path, fully illuminated at night.
We are Pasquale and Giacomo, who with the help of our father Michele, a few years ago we decided to undertake this activity which constantly
is giving us the opportunity to convey to our guests our main passions for hospitality and good food. These passions, well-established in our
coastal land and agriculture, allowing us to constantly reinvent the offer to our guests dedicated, basing it on availability and seasonality values.
We host you in rooms equipped with private bathroom and balcony overlooking the sea of Positano between the islands of Capri and Li Galli. Each room has a large double bed (with the possibility of adding a single bed), and are equipped with linens, towels and toiletries. Free wi-fi connection is working in all our spaces. We provide you with keys for your independent access at every time.
Interaction with Guests
Upon your arrival you will find free parking slots along the road and we'll help you carry your luggage with a special pulling system.
We will assist you from beginning, accompanying you throughout whole of your stay suggesting you the best local amenities including activities from ourselves offered.
You will have here the opportunity to experience our land through different activities such us farming excursions and local cooking classes (events organized on reservation). We always include breakfast, different every day and based on availability of our gardens, or made by the breads and cakes that we daily prepare.
The center of Positano is reachable by bus in 20 minutes or 35-40 minutes through a centuries-long staircase. For trekking lovers, our structure is directly related to the main paths of Monti Lattari and the most famous Walkpath of God.
However, we are located at the center of several important location like Pompei, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento, reachable by ferry, bus or car. Nearby you will find shops and restaurants.
Look no further! Our stay at Colle Dell'ara was everything we could have wished for. From the minute we arrived (after a long, hot journey) we felt right at home. The property is absolutely stunning and is run by the loveliest family. Although we did not get to meet Pasquale, his brothers were delightful and more than happy to help in any way. Be prepared for stairs and hills and sore calves! The property is right off the beaten track and takes time and effort to reach, but the views and hospitality at the top makes it all worth it. 5 stars :)
What can we say about this magical place, other than the only disappointment we endured was having to leave it! We feel lucky to have been able to stay here not only because the property and the hosts are amazing, but because our experience of positano would not have been complete without it.
For those of you worried about staying far from town, I would suggest one of two things: First, you can split your trip up- stay a few nights here, and maybe a couple nights in the thick of town (as we did). Alternatively, forget about your worry and enjoy yourselves knowing you are getting the best of the positano experience from this beautiful property and its most gracious hosts. The bigger wow factor is definitely high in the hills at colle del'arra.
If you are lucky enough to have the chance, do participate in the dinner prepared and hosted at the property. We had a lovely evening of the most amazing Italian cuisine, breathtaking view, and awesome conversation with the rest of the guests. No one left disappointed in the least. Beyond this, Pasquale took care of our every request (restaurants bookings, recommendations, etc), and Matt was also very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious and served on the Terrace every morning until 11.
If you plan on going into town every single day, being on the beach, and shopping, perhaps this is not the right place for you to stay for the full duration of your trip. But if you are looking for a mix of relaxation, the most amazing views, good company, and some adventure (path of God's, the path down to town/ main square), I would encourage you to book a few nights here and enjoy the best this beautiful region has to offer.
Thank you, Pasquale, for an amazing experience. We will certainly return.
Such a beautiful setting. Stunning views, welcoming and friendly. A perfect experience.
This was the best place I have stayed on my 5 month trip!
Pasquale and Giacomo are amazing hosts, you really feel like you are being welcomed into their home. The property is stunning, with an amazing view of Positano and the coastline, and endless terraced gardens. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and there is nothing better than waking up to a view of the Amalfi Coast!
The included breakfast is so fresh and delicious, and runs until 11am so you can sleep in. Every second night they cook a vegetarian dinner using ingredients from their own gardens or sourced locally, accompanied by local wines - this is not to be missed. On our last day we did the gastronomic tour and cooking class - Giacomo, Pasquale and Matt are so passionate about traditional foods and ingredients, and sustainable eating, and this is so much more than just a cooking class. We collected many of the ingredients from the colle dell'Ara gardens, and learnt how various "weeds" could be incorporated into our cooking. In the kitchen we were involved in every aspect of preparing three courses before sitting down for one the best lunches I have ever had.
All in all an amazing experience, I only wish we could have stayed longer and we will certainly be back!
I had the pleasure of staying at the B&B for three nights and it was not enough. The room was spacious and clean, although not air conditioned the fan kept us cool. The views are stunning and the food was delicious. I am not a morning person but wanted to wake up early to relax and enjoy the music, views, and meal each morning. He even had wine on the premises for us to purchase. And suggested a lovely beach that is less touristy and amazing. It is easy to get the bus into the center of town and it runs every hour but service ends around 11:30pm (23:30) keep this is mind if you are looking for night life in the center of town as the club can stay open till 4am leaving it hard to get a cab back up the mountain. Also I love hiking so I enjoyed walking the trail to the house but note that it is like a hiking trail and not a paved sidewalk. You do not have to carry your luggage through the trail which was a god send because Pasquale has a cable car to take it. In my opinion Pasquale could not make this place any better. Positano is magically and this B&B is pure relaxation. I can't wait to go back.
I cannot recommend this B&B more highly! Pasquale and his family made us all feel like family. Their Villa is gorgeous! (Not for the faint of heart as you have to hike up from the road through a lovely trail each day.) We liked the daily walks up the hill and the views are SPLENDID! Breakfast was divine with the best view in Positano. Rooms were clean and comfortable and every room has a balcony or terrace view of the sea.
For purchase they offer a selection of homemade limoncello that they make, also a local foraging/cooking class that culminates in a four course lunch with wine. (What an experience!) And they offer a three course dinner prepared from fruits and vegetables they grow on site three nights a week that's a steal at €30 per person and mouth wateringly delicious!
The property is beautiful. The aroma of figs was thick in the air which added to the enchanting feel of the grounds. The cats who live on the property were so sweet and endearing. They escorted us up and down the trail each day as we came and went (how did they know!?)
Pasquale made us restaurant reservations, helped us arrange car transfers. We felt fully taken care of! The highlight of our trip to Italy!
We were so sad to leave to say good bye to Pasquale, Matt and Giacomo who felt like family by the end of our five day stay. We will be back again soon!
The place was amazing! I will definitely be back next year
The host was so helpful and kind
I would recommend this stay to anyone of my friends
