Hacker room in doorman building

Apartment - Private room · 4th Avenue, New York, NY 10003, United States

Amazing location in the middle of downtown New York. Safe, beautiful building with 24/7 doorman. The room has a full workstation setup with large desk, Herman Miller Aeron Chair, 27" monitor (and thunderbolt adapter), speakers, and turbo internet.

The Space

Location, location, location. This place is just convenient to everything: subway, shopping, nightlife. Best spot in the city in my opinion. The building is also very safe with a 24 hour doorman. It's also a large room by Manhattan standards.

Guest Access

Guests have access to a full kitchen with dishwasher and bathroom (shared with roommate).

Interaction with Guests

I'm traveling abroad so I won't be able to meet in person. I'm available via email or (website hidden) though. My roommate will be there for emergencies and there's always a doorman on duty.

The Neighborhood

Ippudo, which is heralded as the best ramen in the city, is right next door (2+ hour wait though!). Tons of great restaurants within a 10 minute walking radius. Also St. Marks place is about a 5 minute walk away and has great nightlife. If you walk 10 minutes south you'll hit SoHo, which has great shopping. There are two movie theaters in a 5 minute walk if you get bored.

Getting around

Less than 5 minute walk to Union Square which has the N/Q/R, 4/5/6, and L subway lines. It's 1 stop from Grand Central, 2 stops from Times Square, and 3 stops from Central Park.

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and it was great. Kyle's room is spacious and comfortable. The area is fantastic. Union Square is right down the street and there are tons of stores, restaurants and bars.

  • Had a lovely time over a one week stay, kyle was not there but he left keys with the doorman which worked out easy enough and responsive with emails while he was travelling, the room is very basic and a bit cold, but I never enquiried how to get the heating up and it was actually one of the coldest weeks in New York with the freeze spell, accommodation cannot be faulted. Super convenient location and his roommate David was very kind and helpful. Heavy smell of cleaning products in kitchen and bathroom was the only minor issue I had since I was out most of day or in my room it did not bother me so much and which would not be a problem for most if your not chemically sensitive like I am. But at least they are clean which it was:) I would stay again...

  • Great apartment and Kyle was an awesome host. If you need to work or want to hang out anywhere near Union Square, the Village or Chelsea this is your place. Cleaners are in the same building with same-day service and the Astor Place subway station is a 5 min walk away. Kyle was an awesome host and I would definitely recommend this spot.

  • This was my first visit to NYC.
I had somewhat of an idea where to stay, but I couldn't imagine that I would love the area so much.
The place is spacious and clean, bed super comfy, water pressure excellent, doorman super pleasant...
There are 3 subway stations within minutes, and access to I think 7 different trains.
Area is super safe, close to everything and there are few excellent restaurants steps away ( Ippudo is a must for a cold NYC day)
I didn't get the chance to meet Kyle, we communicated via text and email. He was easy to reach, fast to respond and overall a great host!

    Thank you Kyle
