Make yourself at home staying at “The Pennrich” during your visit to beautiful San Diego. Located in the central neighborhood of Hillcrest, famous for its diverse population, gay friendly, and home to many bars, restaurants, shops, and transportation, my studio apartment is located above a garage with a private entrance and has no common walls. You can enjoy sitting on your private balcony and enjoy a leisurely breakfast or your evening happy hour. Inside the unit you will find a queen size bed , a full size kitchen stocked with basic cooking supplies including a french press coffee maker, toaster, blender, and a nice selection of coffee, teas, sugar, sweetener, and creamers. There is a Mexican marble bathroom with large pedestal sink, bathtub(towels supplied). There is plenty of natural light, wonderful natural ventilation, cathedral ceilings, track lighting, along with hardwood, tile and marble floors. To be honest, Airbnb's photography makes my place seem larger than it really is, but it's far from feeling claustrophobic having such high ceilings, even in the bathroom. We do have wireless internet, but I have had some complaints that it is not strong enough, so if a strong and fast Wi-Fi connection is essential for you, then my place may not be suitable for you. There is plenty of free street parking in front of the studio should you have a rental car. A major bus line is only 3 blocks away which will take you to the center of the city in about 20 minutes, or you could walk there in less than an hour. The world famous San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park is a short 15 minute walk, and you are a short 5 minute walk away from grocery stores such as Whole Foods, Ralphs, Trader Joe's, and a liquor store. There is also a Rite Aid (24 hour pharmacy) within walking distance. In addition, no matter what type of food you’re craving, you will be satisfied with your choices of Thai, Mexican, Japanese, Continental, Indian, Mediterranean, and American cuisine within a 10 minute walk, along with a 7 Eleven, McDonalds, Subway, Starbucks Papa John's Pizza, Fed Ex and a Post Office. There is a wide choice of bars within walking distance, including gay, straight, mixed, or wine, where you can dance or socialize. The Alibi, Hillcrest’s oldest bar is 3 blocks away, and each Sunday morning there is a wonderful farmer’s market where you can shop for fresh produce, hot and cold prepared foods, and inexpensive fresh flowers.
Your host is a native San Diegan, and can give you many recommendations of “must sees” in San Diego. Whether you are here to enjoy Pride weekend, the Rock and Roll Marathon, Comic-Con, or any other large event, or just here to relax. I will try my best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, and hope you will visit us soon. If you find you are unhappy at The Pennrich for any reason, I will be more than happy to refund your full rental costs (minus Airbnb's own fees) for any unused nights. Keep in mind that this is a non-smoking property at all times. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to meeting you in “America’s Finest City” soon!
Own entrance gate, and private balcony.

I was born in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego and have never left its accepting and diverse culture. I have traveled extensively in our small world, and know how nice it is to come home to a warm, clean, and cozy place at night, whether it be a private home, hotel, or tent. I take great pride in offering you a home away from home which is clean, safe, private. and has what I hope includes everything you need to feel comfortable after a long day of touring San Diego. I can recommend the "must sees" for you to make the most of your visit, and hope that you will leave my city with fond memories, and anxious to return. I also offer you a money back guarantee, so that if you're not happy for any reason with your accommodations, I'll make sure you get a refund for any unused nights. I love my day job working with kids who keep me grounded and young at heart. I have a great sense of humor, and like to spend my weekends just relaxing at home with the Weber grill and some good company. My mother used to tell me that you need only 3 things to be happy: Something to do, someone to love, and something to look forward to. Heeding her advice, I look forward to hosting you soon! Happy travels, Filbert.
