Looking for a gorgeous, furnished, private home to host your family or Dartmouth student over the holidays? Go skating on the private pond or snowshoeing on our 30 private acres or just light the woodstove and watch the snow fall from the wraparound porch, gourmet kitchen, or master-bedroom balcony.

The Space

Available December 21 - January 1, a furnished, Norwich home on a beautiful, hillside property approx 15 min from Dartmouth College and downtown Hanover.
PLEASE NOTE: The master bedroom (described below) is also available from December 10 - January 1 as an alternative option (pricing etc can be discussed with contact).
The three-story house has two bedrooms with ample additional bedding space. Master bedroom has king-size bed and private top-floor balcony. 40" HD flatscreen (with HDMI capable connector for laptops) is currently in master bedroom but can be moved to living room). Other bedroom has queen-size mattress, desk, plenty of bureau and shelving space and lovely view of eastern horizon over vast backyard. For additional bedding: living room oversized chair pulls out into bed, and basement couch also pulls out into bed. Small Ikea couch in adjoining study off living room, as well, and room could be turned into additional bedroom (there's a brand-new twin-size mattress that could be brought up from basement and put on the study floor).
One bath, tub includes water jets and shower pressure is strong with piping hot water.
Open plan, gourmet kitchen, with everything one could conceive of for holiday cooking.
Dining room includes charming chandelier and vast marble-top table that seats six with a view that looks out over the western side of wraparound porch and a mountaintop horizon.
Woodstove is in living room which includes piano, couch, various chairs including rocking chair and two double windows looking out over pond, Study includes a library and working desk space. Large back mudroom with industrial-size washer and dryer.

Adjoining property toolshed with every conceivable tool, including snowblower, and a woodshop that includes a woodstove for any winter elf craft-making (also where you will find sets of snowshoes you can borrow).
The house is beautifully appointed on 30 acres with wooded trails for hiking, x-country skiing and/or snowshoeing. Discover the 200 year old two-lane 'road' back in the woods lined with incredible stone walls.

Guest Access

The house is in a perfect, central location to the Upper Valley, with Norwich (and 91 Freeway), Hanover and White River Junction (and 89 Freeway) each located approximately 10 minutes away. King Arthur flour cafe and bakery headquarters are 5 minutes away and highly recommended and there are 2 co-ops in WRJ that sell local, organic food as well as 2 co-ops in Hanover. Great restaurants in Hanover and Norwich include Hanover Inn's Pine, Carpenter & Main, and the Norwich Inn.
For home access, snow tires or a reliable vehicle may be necessary based on the snow conditions as the driveway and last half-mile of road is dirt. One can also park at the bottom of the driveway and walk up if necessary.
Some personal items will be left behind in bathroom cupboards, closet and dresser drawers and are respectfully requested to be left untouched. Woodstove is off-limits except in case of extra-insurance discussion.

Interaction with Guests

I will be out of town but available via (website hidden) (including available phone number) and email. I also have two friends in Hanover available to show the place and be on call for any management issues that should arise.

The Neighborhood

Great place to take long, winter walks and take in the fresh air! Sitting beneath the spruce glen on the Shire-style arched wooden bridge over the pond and watching the last of the bubbling brook feed into it is always relaxing! Be sure to go slow and wave when driving past any other walking neighbors, this is Vermont!

Getting around

House driveway can accomodate up to five cars. The free Upper Valley shuttle has a stop in the center of Norwich, 10 minutes away from the house.

Other Things to Note

Plenty of large towels, various-size sheets and extra bedding, including 3-4 down comforters.
