About this listing
Now available for Thanksgiving and Christmas rental! There may be one person in the house but it is unlikely: this can be discussed at time of expressed interest.
Available December 1 - January 15, a furnished, Norwich home on a beautiful, hillside property approx 15 min from Dartmouth College and downtown Hanover.
The three-story house has two 2nd-story bedrooms with an additional study/guest room on ground floor. Each has a full or queen size bed. Room(s) available will be determined / discussed at time of reservation request.
Two bath, one shower with tub that includes water jets: shower pressure is strong with piping hot water.
Open plan, gourmet kitchen, with everything one could conceive of for cooking.
Dining room includes six-person dining table that seats six with a view that looks out over the western side of wraparound porch and a mountaintop horizon.
Woodstove is in living room general space which includes piano, couch, various chairs including rocking chair and two double windows looking out over pond. Large back-entrance mudroom with industrial-size washer and dryer.
The house is beautifully appointed on 30 acres with wooded trails for hiking, x-country skiing and/or snowshoeing. Discover the 200 year old two-lane 'road' back in the woods lined with incredible stone walls.
The house is in an ideal central location in the Upper Valley, with Dartmouth College, Norwich (and 91 Freeway), Hanover and White River Junction (89 Freeway) each located approximately 10-15 minutes away. King Arthur flour cafe and bakery headquarters are 5 minutes away and highly recommended and there are 2 co-ops in WRJ that sell local, organic food as well as 2 co-ops in Hanover. Great restaurants in Hanover and Norwich include Hanover Inn's Pine, Carpenter & Main, and the Norwich Inn.
For home access in winter, snow tires or a reliable vehicle may be necessary based on the snow conditions as the driveway and last half-mile of road is dirt. There is also a space to park at the bottom of the driveway and walk up if necessary.
Some personal items will be left behind in bathroom cupboards, closet and dresser drawers and are respectfully requested to be left untouched.
Extra deposit will be discussed if you want to use woodstove.
Parking can accommodate up to five cars. The free Upper Valley shuttle has a stop in the center of Norwich, 10 minutes away from the house.
Plenty of large towels and some various-size sheets and extra bedding.
This will depend on time and dates of rental request.
Interaction with Guests
I may or may not be home: this depends on time and dates of rental request.
House guests are expected to treat the place as their own and to leave it exactly as found. Security deposit will be required and returned upon inspection at time of departure. If guests intend to use wood-stove an additional insurance discussion will be required.
Pets are allowed with extra deposit. I currently have a small, short-haired, independent cat that prefers to live outside and is only indoors rarely.
Smoking allowed on porch but of course not inside.
Piano, ample lighting fixtures, vast dining room table and HD TV. The same-floor woodstove can be spotted through the lattice of the stairway.
