Magical cottage on country property. Close to town but very secluded and private. Everyone who has stayed here has loved it- read all of our many reviews.
Stay on one of Petaluma's historic chicken ranches! Our goats, miniature donkeys, and bunnies (to name just a few of our furry/feathered friends) will welcome you when you arrive. The Cottage features custom built details and character throughout. It is on 2 country acres separate from our main residence and surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens and open space. Private front porch and side garden with seating and gas bbq grill. Many areas to relax and enjoy the sunset. It is an entire cottage with full amenities: Queen bed, washer/dryer, full kitchen, full bath, pellet stove heater, air cooler, wireless Internet (see note in extra details section) , cable TV, stereo. Approx. 30 minutes from the vineyards/wineries. Two miles to charming downtown Petaluma- lots of antique stores, the "Theater District", and many fabulous restaurants. 1 mile from beautiful Helen Putnam Park- great hiking, mountain bike riding, and sunset picnics. 30 min-1 hour to coast and beaches (Point Reyes National Seashore, Tomales Bay, Dillion Beach, to name just a few.)
Peaceful, very private, clean, and comfortable. Includes all linens, farm fresh eggs (you can meet the chickens in person!) and a bottle of local wine.

Interaction with Guests
We're friendly, helpful and very busy people. We give you all the privacy you want but are happy to chat with you also. We enjoy getting to know a little about every guest.
Our location is private, secluded, and safe. Everyone around us lives on at least two acres. It has a rural feel but is just a mile and a half from all the action in Petaluma.
Don't rely on public transportation to get to our place. You'll likely need a car although we did have one guest who came and went on his bicycle for a week! If you are flying in there is an airport bus that will bring you into town from SFO or Oakland. Look up Sonoma Airport Express for details.
Other Things to Note
Parking is limited and to reduce car traffic in consideration of our neighbors, please check with us before inviting your guests to visit you during your stay with us.
We have updated our wifi in response to guest feedback. The signal is now strong and fast with a dedicated, secured network router within the cottage.
Please leave your shoes by the door so that our country dirt, grass, and burrs stay outside (you may want to bring along your favorite slippers to wear inside!) Check out is 11am
but if you need more time please ask for later- its usually fine if we don't have a guest arriving immediately after you. There is no smoking in the cottage. Please refrain from intense fragrances. We may have guests arriving right after you and they may not share your taste in perfume. Thanks!
The pellet stove needs cleaning and re-fueling and indoor plants watering. We typically do this when you are out so as not to disturb you but if you prefer to be present just let us know.
Our stay with Chris and Tanya could not have been more perfect! The bucolic setting they have created here is beautiful and serene, and is as special as they have described. We loved the goats and chickens and even the roosters! Their children, Anna and Dustin were delightful and gave us renewed hope in the next generation! The location was perfect for us as we wanted quiet yet a pleasant walking distance into town.
The cottage was so sweet, with every amenity we needed. Chris was always on hand for anything we needed. He even ran new computer cable so the wifi would be more robust! There were many places to sit outside to soak up the sun or read a book in the shade. We had all the privacy we wanted yet it was always a pleasure to have engaging conversations with any of this family!
Anyone who has the fortune to spend time here will come away refreshed and renewed. We will most certainly return!
Chris and Tanya were wonderful hosts during our three day getaway to Petaluma . The serenity and uniqueness of their cottage was amazing and provided us a great escape from city life. The cabin itself was much larger than we expected and was decorated adorably. The overall charm of this cottage absolutely exceeded our expectations!
That being said there are a few things one should note when booking this beautiful cottage. Firstly, the front entrance is about 100 feet from the front door of the owners home. When entering and exiting (on an unpaved path to shared the driveway) you walk across the side of the main house. Secondly, parking for this cottage is available on the side of the shared driveway . We may have just come during a busy holiday weekend, but parking was a little tight when we arrived home one evening, forcing us to park at the very end of the long driveway. Lastly, the owners did enter the cottage while we were away for our day trip to Napa (about 1 hour away) to water the indoor plants and open the windows. While nothing else was touched , we feel this is important to note because it was a distinction from our other stays with air bnb hosts.
Overall our stay was quiet, peaceful, and very scenic. I would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a wine country escape!
The cottage is part of our home so I don't quite understand why would it be particularly notable that a guest would be able to see the main house and have to share the driveway. Our listing states that parking is limited but even from the "very end" the walk to the cottage is maybe 200 feet across our pretty grounds. If you have mobility issues this may be a valid concern.
These guests were out during the warm days and kept the cottage shut tight which makes it very hot inside. I opened some windows so that it would be more comfortable for their return. The plants need watering and the pellet stove needs to be cleaned and re-filled with fuel. I do this when guests go out so as not to disturb them. Apparently this was more disturbing in this case :)
We live in a very private country setting and we can understand that some people who live in the city may have heightened security concerns. Please relax during your stay with us- isn't that why you come up to the country? If you prefer that we enter the cottage while you are in it please let us know and we will cheerfully comply.
We were delighted with our experience staying at Tonyas cottage! The cottage has been done up in a way that is dreamy, makes you feel comfortable and makes you want to come back!
We were made very welcome and loved our stay in this truly unique cozy cottage. It was very clean and comfortable and we hardly left the farm. Shops are a 5-10 minute drive away but the feel is very rustic. Recommended!
We had such a wonderful stay at the wine country cottage! Every detail of the cottage was cozy and tasteful, with really neat furnishings, a great kitchen, super comfy bed, and views galore of the beautiful property and surrounding countryside. The Norkuses were excellent hosts and were really helpful in teaching us how to operate the cool pellet stove - and did an amazing job of restoring an historic chicken farm into its current glory. The bottle of excellent wine and eggs fresh from the farm right outside were a lovely touch! Great location close to downtown but far enough out to feel like you're really in the country. Adorable farm animals and a huge pack of wild turkeys sealed the deal for us. We hope to return soon!
Tanya and Chris were warm and inviting hosts. The cottage was clean and comfortable, and the location was very convenient to Petaluma.
The cottage was more than as it was advertised-it was private, but the hosts were nearby if needed. it was very relaxing to stay there!
Home owner in Petaluma, CA with a cottage rental on our property (see "Wine Country Cottage). Very well behaved kids and much cleaner than the average bear. :)
