Our neighborhood is tropical with the sounds of the jungle and waves in the background
Ideally located on Playa Cocles, just 3 kilometer away from Puerto Viejo, providing privacy and seclusion within an easy 3 min walk to the beach, bar and restaurants. It is truly one of the best location in the area, very close to town, yet just minutes from the most beautiful beaches of the South Caribbean.
We are right on the edge of the jungle, so the flowers, the birds and the jungle sounds all mix harmoniously with the ambiance of the ocean waves. We are just a few minutes from nice restaurants, live music and fun little shops yet we live in quiet tranquility. This is truly a place to relax your mind and leave your cares behind.
The beaches are a 2 minutes walk - or drive and park right next to the water at one of several spots where the sea is safe for swimming and snorkeling in the reefs just offshore. Monkeys, sloths, toucans and parrots are all regular visitors, and you will wake up each morning to the sounds of rain forest wildlife in all its glory!
Other Things to Note
Toucans, hummingbirds, insects, little frogs, sloths and monkeys often visit the property.Guests can also enjoy activities such as surfing, snorkeling, hiking, river rafting, horseback riding, zip lining, jungle tours and many more!

My friend and I rented for a month here recently. For the price you get the basics. The location is close to the Jaguar Rescue a bit of a ways from anything else.
The second day we were there the sink pipe burst and the front room was flooded. The neighbor helped fix it and Irma brought us a mop to clean up all the water. We only had 2 working lightbulbs. The toliets both had issues. One you had to put water down to flush. The other you had to open the back. Showers PVC pipes with crappy shower heads. Made for some interesting hair rinsing. We had a lot of issues with the internet. Cedric was quick to help with that when he was around which we were grateful for.
The last week we were there we were robbed on the beach by a man with a machete. It was 2:30 in the afternoon. He stole our bag that had the apartment key in it. More worried about our safety than anything we went to a nearby hotel had the police called. Went to the station and files a report. We had Irma (the caretaker) switch the lock from our unit 1 with the 3rd unit so that we felt a little more secure.
Today (a week later.) I receive a message from Cedric stating I will be charged $40 for a replacement key and 2 bath matts. I responded by telling him that the bath matts were hung in the washing station before I left and that paying for a stolen key seemed unfair.
The messages back and forth continued and to be honest I have better things to do than argue over $40.
Just a fair warning to anyone renting from him.
Also the neighbor who was 9months pregnant got her bag snatched from a man on a bike the day before I left. I would reccomend staying closer to town and certainly rent from someone with that is ethiclly sound.
Here in casita Cocles we are always willing to help. Your feedback is always welcome.
I will start saying that guests did not inform us about the problems they were facing.I passed several times asking them about how was everything and they did not mention anything.
After they left we went and checked the house and only 1 bulb was not working in the living room and it was replaced(living room has 2 other bulbs that were working). Flush system was desconfigured, it took us 2 minutes to solve the issue.
Internet had problems one day and it was fixed very fast. Connection is reliable, and if a problem accours, local provider has a very fast response.
The guest said she was robbed, but when we went to the police station, they confirmed that any report was made. They also lost 2 matts. We are charging her 2 matts and just the 50% of the cost of the lock.
We have to mention that guest did not do the check out process, guests left very fast and did not inform us, so we were unable to check out the cabin.
Just to clarify we don´t have any pregnant neighbord, I just assume they were mad because we were charging them for the items lost.
Completamente recomendado.
Cedric was easy to communicate with. The cabina appeared to be new construction. The location at Cocles was great, near everything but in a quiet area. We had a couple of minor issues and when we contacted Cedric about them, he was very responsive and apologetic.
I had a great experience at this apartment. I was there for two weeks. The host was very attentive to my questions and requests. I would gladly stay there again.
Cedric was quick to respond to messages and very easy to work with. The apartment is great! The apartment is clean and the screens on doors and windows helped keep the bug traffic down. The location is amazing! Just a short way up a rocky road away from the beach. Renting bikes is a must if you don't have a car (or do) You can ride to Puerto Viejo in 15-20 minutes (it's a good 45 minute walk) Or take a scenic bike ride south to the Jaguar rescue sanctuary and Manzanillo for lunch. Very basic amenities.. so be prepared to purchase things that you will need if you are staying for a while. We spent a lot of time on the patio, reading, chilling in the hammock, playing cards and watching toucans fly around. We highly recommend this place! - be sure to have some fish tacos at tasty waves; take a canopy tour and rafting trip with terradventures; and check out the waterfalls.
The place was as advertised. Quiet, peaceful and off the main road. Simple accommodations with just the basics. We stayed with our two young girls and it was nice to have the area fenced around the cabin. We saw a bit of wildlife on the property as well. Overall a great value for the area.
