Our flight arrived at 2:30am and Nicole was available to answer our questions regarding directions (sorry to call so late btw Nicole)! The photos do not do this place justice. It was beyond our expectations! The view, the sounds of the crashing waves combined with the silence of the neighborhood was exactly what we envisioned. Different from the West coast, Cattlewash is sprinkled with homes here and there in the hills and along the main road. Nicole's home is literally a 5 minute walk down the hill to the beach. Being the last house at the top of the hill you are guaranteed spectacular views, privacy and peace of mind.
The refrigerator was stocked with fresh fruit, eggs, milk, juice and local beers. Plenty of pots/pans to make a delicious meal as well.
The bar/deck area is phenomenal! Imagine waking up with the sound of the waves to catch the sunrise, only to stumble a few steps in your sleepiness to lay on either the sofa or one of the comfy Adirondack chairs just to fall asleep again.
If heading out for the day, walk down the hill to the main road and look for the bus stop either heading towards Speightsown/Bridgetown etc. Or take a quick ride the other direction to the Atlantic Hotel for a killer view above the sea and land below.
In regards to the comments about the dogs. Um..they're dogs. We heard no noise from them unless there was someone coming up the drive-way..usually us. We left them some lamb bones... might want to keep that in mind :)
Nicole sent us on our way with a lovely farewell gift of Champagne and postcards from local artists.
IDK if that is the norm for everyone. But man she set the bar very high and we are hooked!
Thank you for sharing your home Nicole!
Nicole's place was very nice. We loved the patio and the fact that we could open all of the doors to make the place open air. The kitchen was very nice to cook in and she left us a good bit of food in the fridge including fresh eggs, which was very nice.
The only problem was her dogs- she has two large dogs tethered in a pen in the backyard. And they barked, a lot. Including in the middle of the night, on and off for hours. I am a light sleeper and this made it very difficult to get a good nights sleep while there. My boyfriend and I are huge dog lovers, but this was too much for us on our quiet east coast getaway- it made it not so peaceful as it could be.
So, if you're a deep sleeper who doesn't mind barking dogs, this place is amazing. But if you're a light sleeper, look elsewhere.
Although our time at Serendipity was brief, we had a great time and were very pleased with the accommodation. Very spacious with everything provided for a comfortable stay. A peaceful location in which to unwind. Would love to go back there.
Nicole was very welcoming when we arrived and primarily available by phone after that. Serendipity is represented well in the description and the general ambiance of the view and surroundings was outstanding--very private and peaceful. The accommodations were, clean, simple and pleasant. If you want an inexpensive, off the beaten path, non-touristy experience on the wild East Coast, this is it. The stay would have definitely deserved five stars if we hadn't been quite so bitten up at night by some sort? of sand fleas. Nicole warned us of this possibility.
Arrived 2/1/2015 and stayed for 26 days, certainly did not want to leave, on arrival Nicole had left us a welcome pack which was far more than a welcome, wine, beer, butter, eggs everything you would need and so much more , you certainly did not need to rush to the shops. The place is as good the photos if not better, would not know Nicole & family were above you, but always happy to help you if you needed anything. We would often come home to find small gifts left for us fudge, banana chips etc, one evening Nicole and her daughter treated us to a home made caribbean pork dish, out of this world, really lovely I agree with other reviews to have car on this side of the island is a good idea. The house keeper came in each week and replenished the supplies all you needed was provided towels, soap, shampoo and body wash, beach towels, washing powers, etc. We would book again tomorrow if we were to turn the island. Thanks Nicole great time
We stayed five days at Nicoles nice House. It was the last stop of our roundtrip on Barbados. The accommodation was so comfortable, nice and clean :) We loved to stay there. Nicole was very friendly and gave us such a nice arrival present. Thank you for the great holiday!
Born in Barbados, I have an undying love for the intimacy of the Island and my West Indian culture and heritage. Barbadians by nature are open, thoughtful and generous with a disarming innocence and charm and you will quickly feel at home...it truly is the Gem of the Caribbean with its beautiful beaches, quaint chattel houses, lush sugar cane fields and rugged coastlines....with a fantastic view from Serendipity. The East Coast of the Island has always been a favorite of mine and happy to now call it home. I am a peaceful Piscean who is happiest in the midst of my three beautiful blessings. I love the outdoors and enjoy spending family time discovering “hidden spots” just on the outskirts of our home on the beautiful East Coast.“Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties today of its strength.” ~ Corrie ten Boom
