Other Things to Note
TOURIST TAX NOT INCLUDED
I stayed here for 5 nights with my girlfriend. It was our first time in Rome and this was our second Airbnb experience. The place was a little difficult to find at first. We couldn't inform Raffaele what time we would arrive so when we arrived at 1.30 pm the room was not ready but it looked clean and spacious. We read the review about tourist tax and indeed we had to pay 3.50 euros per person per night and the room was very hot as it didn't have a fan so we paid 5 euros per night for airconditioning. Without airconditioning the windows would have to be open but you would have less privacy because on the other side of the window is a balcony where either Raffaele or guests walk past. We didn't use the busses much because it was easier taking the metro which was roughly a 15-20 minute (1.2 km I think) walk to Bologna metro. It isn't far but with the heat it seemed like a very long walk. The apartment had a spacious kitchen where you can cook and a dining table on the veranda that overlooks part of the nomentana district. The toilet was decent but since we stayed in the first room, walking to the bathroom at the end of the hallway was awkward because you walk past two rooms and the kitchen. Raffaele was very helpful, he helped us book our tickets to the Vatican Museum because I could not use my card as I needed a verification code that I couldn't receive as my phone had no signal. We are Muslim so he wrote on a card what pork was in Italian so we could buy pork free spaghetti sauce and ask at restaurants for pork free meals.
Staying at VillaBlanc was a good experience and our first with Airbnb. The twin room was very clean and spacious for two travellers with big backpacks. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast included many things from fresh berries to marmalades, yoghurt and biscuits. Raffaele and his mother were both very helpful and friendly hosts and made us feel at home. The building is well maintained and has a janitor/guard downstairs, which made us feel safe. The bus from Termini takes only 15 minutes, and the nearest bus stop is about 5 minutes away from the B&B. Two little minuses: (1) having to pay 3 euros per night for air conditioning (in July) was a negative surprise, as we didn't see it mentioned before; (2) the bathroom door lock was broken, although nobody ever stormed in by accident. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay outside the city centre, off the beaten track and experience where the real Romans live. I may even return one day myself. Grazie mille!
The room was very nice and easy to get to by bus! Raffaele was well hosting and helped us to cook pasta the Italian way. What we didn't know is that the tax for rome is 14€ (2people 2nights) but thats ok.
Great location not too far from the centre with nice restaurants and bars. The flat was clean, tidy and well equipped and Raffaele was a friendly host. We especially liked the terrace :)
Last week I stayed at Villa Blanc with one of my best friends and what a wonderful week it was. Raffaele made us feel right at home; he is a very kind and attentive host. The B&B itself is just as cosy and well-looked after as pictured here on Airbnb. The neighborhood is nice and quit and is home to a great restaurant that we got to discover thanks to Raffaele. Furthermore you can be in the city centre within 15 min from the B&B. Lastly, to all of you Dutchies out there: if you want to catch some extra sun besides discovering bella Roma, this B&B is the place for you with it's sunny terrace.
Thanks again for everything Raffaele!
