We stayed in this home with 4 adults and 1 infant. We found the place to be a perfect fit for our weekend. Small cabin like feel that is surrounded by the energy of a loving family. The overall vibe of the property itself was very comfortable and inviting. We were greeted throughout the weekend by several family members in an non invasive way that helped us feel both welcomed and attended to. We enjoyed the hammock and outdoor seating area, as well as the close location to the river and to Guerneville. We appreciated Susan's thoughtfulness and attention to details. All in all, we had a great time and would definitely rent this property again.
My friend and I stayed here for the Vineman 70.3 triathlon. This ended up being the perfect location for us & the race. It was only about 15 - 20 min away from the swim start and 20 min away from the end of the race.
The place was quaint and had all the amenities we needed. The fire pit and hammock outside allowed us to relax and enjoy the cool evenings.
Our host Susan was super friendly and accommodating; she was spot on in recommending things for us to do after the race.
Highly recommend Armstrong park and Jenner on the coastline. This area with the redwoods and wine vineyards is beautiful!
Everything was exactly as described. It was quiet and peaceful, and we had everything we needed. The house and yard were so cozy and relaxing - we had so much fun lying in the hammock, sitting round the patio table, and watching movies on the couch. There were so many nice touches, and Susan was committed to making sure we had a good time. Her family were as well. They left us to ourselves, as we just wanted a quiet getaway, but they were right there if we needed anything. We had such a good time.
Susan greeted my family upon arrival and showed us where to park. We were able to park both of our cars in a driveway in front of the building. Susan is warm, friendly, and knowledgable about the property/building and the area. She is a wealth of information! It is possible to walk down the winding driveway - farther down the road and then after crossing a main road you will find an entrance to the Russian River where you can swim and relax! We were so busy trying to find jobs and a permanent rental in Sonoma County that we were unable to do this, but knowing we could was a major plus.
The property is BEAUTIFUL and felt like home to me. There are plants and greenery all around & lizards that stop by to dance. The home is nearby another building that resembles a renovated barn where the washer and dryer is located and then there is the main house. Susan introduced us to her daughter and we also met the grandchildren. My daughter is 3 and enjoyed playing with Susan's 4 year old granddaughter.
Susan was VERY accommodating. Even though she had to leave the next day to attend a festival- she made sure we had contact information to be able to reach her if necessary. Susan's daughter, husband, and kids were nearby if we needed anything as well.
This location is extremely rural while being convenient- just 20 minutes from Santa Rosa. We enjoyed the energy of the home, the rural location, and the ability to do a load of laundry, water the plants, and just relax in the hammock!
There are fans to stay cool and there is also plenty of kitchenware to cook and store meals.
The wifi does work, but due to the rural location I did have some issues with good connectivity unless I was in the kitchen with my macbook pro. (it's a 2006 though.. worked fine outside in the sitting area). This is not an issue if you are coming to relax and I am sure it depends on the type of device that is used. There are several wireless connections available & Susan offered to move the router if necessary.
Again- this is a country type setting so if you are opposed to daddy long legs/spiders/flies/ other little buggies....
There are a good amount of happy daddy long legs here and they didn't bother us one bit... then again I used to live in a very similar home when I was younger, so it was quite nostalgic for me.
I LOVE this place and wished I could have stayed an entire month or longer, but it was booked after us...
Oh yeah- one thing I will say too is that if you are a VERY tall person just beware that this is an older home so the shower is very short. It was fine for us...we are not tall.
Definitely a place worth calling home!
The place was setup with clean sheets, breakfast and inner tubes loaned for our day on the river. Susan was up late to welcome us and advise us on our weekend vacation. Our dog was welcomed along with a loaned leash and patience and smile when he got out of our gate and wondered into the main house.
The property was rustic beautiful and just what we were looking for.
Susan was supper gracious and helped us get the most out of our time on the Russian river and surrounding area.
We'll be back!
My husband and I stayed the cabin for three months; during that time, Susan went above and beyond as a host. She and her family were very welcoming and Susan showed us around town and even took me to the store a couple times when my husband had the car. The small front yard was secure and safe for our two dogs and the dogs that reside on the property are friendly and wonderful!
The cabin is within walking distance to the Russian River and Armstrong woods is short driving distance as well.
I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a weekend get a way or in our case an extended get a way. Thanks again for everything Susan.
We found our cabin experience to be warm, inviting and a true joy. The kitchen has a large picture window that allows you to look out upon the green surrounding the property. My partner and I relaxed in the front room as the wood burning stove warmed the space. This was really sweet after touring around all day. We had the option of watching a movie inside the warm cabin or going outside and making a fire in the pit provided by our host. We were enveloped in a quietude that allowed us to sleep throughout the night. The host was a knowledgeable and peaceful spirit. She was very helpful and giving. We would stay at this historical cabin again because it was a really nice experience.
Hi Steffen, Sorry I'm so late in responding to your review. I was out fo the country and just returned. I thought you guys were great! So sweet and kind, so courteous too. I love meeting new folks from all over the place. I am so glad you enjoyed my place and the surrounding area. I know you have been up this way and really like it up here. You are welcome to come back anytime. I hope you got to have a really wonderful, fulfilling weekend on the Russian River? I hope my house was the weekend retreat you were looking for? I enjoyed talking to you both. Thanks for everything. You left everything PERFECT and made it easy for me. REGARDS, to you both.

About the Host, Susan
I am easy going and accommodating. I want people who will respect my personal belongings and furnishings, as they are in good condition and I will be using them myself again..I know it is important to have your animals with you sometimes, as they are as important as anyone else. Children are safe, as long as they are well supervised.
