We had an excellent stay at the Hilaire Suite. There were 4 of us in our group and found the Suite spacious, clean and perfectly adequate for our 7 night stay.
The bedrooms are large with well appointed bathrooms. The kitchen/living area is also a great space to relax with everything you would need in the kitchen.
We felt safe in the neighbourhood but would suggest you use your common sense in the evening. We walked to the French Quarter in about 10 minutes. There is a also a very handy corner store selling food/drink about 20 metres from the Suite.
We all said we would definitely stay again!
Thank you :-)
We enjoyed our stay at Villere Suites and would recommend them to anyone with a love of New Orleans. Located near the French Quarter and Frenchman's Street, we enjoyed our daily walks to both. The suite had all the amenities that you might need (including security) and our hosts were helpful. The suite is on the second floor and has a private entrance which is important for guests with disabilities to know. It should be noted that we were unfortunate to have 2 very chilly days. While the upstairs were able to be heated nicely, we were never able to warm the downstairs living room & kitchen. Not much of a problem since we were out and about most of our time there. But again, it could be a problem for folks with handicaps.
I would recommend a stay at Villere Suites. We stayed in the A suites, in the back of the property and upstairs. There were 2 large bedrooms upstairs with ensuite bathrooms. Also a 1/2 bath downstairs, a living room and kitchen. The apartment was quiet, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were nice, the living space worked well for the 4 of us, and the location was great. We were able to walk to the French Quarter, the Marigny, Frenchman St, etc. We even walked to the Garden District, though it was a bit of a trek. The key exchange was easy and the owner was accessible. My only complaints were relatively minor...the hand soap container was empty in the bathroom, so I had to go out and buy some. The kitchen was also short on glasses. Other than those little things, it was a very enjoyable stay.
This was a really beautiful house and very spacious. Gwen was really nice and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. She was also very flexible with our requests. Would definitely stay here again.
I can't imagine a better fit than what Villere Suites offered to our group of five. The Villere Suites were beautifully decorated and felt homey. The beds were comfortable. The host was very nice and was able to accommodate our early arrival. We dropped off our bags before cleaning had been done and had lunch at Lil Dizzy's. We had four sets of keys making it possible for our group to come and go independently at all hours of the night. The location made it possible for us to manage our visit without a car and we only used taxis when going back and forth to Uptown. Future guests should know that the Hop-on Hop-off Sight-Seeing bus stops just blocks from the apartment on N. Rampart which is where we picked it up after getting tickets the day before in Jackson Sq. Lastly, in terms of feeling safe in the neighborhood, we had no concerns whatsoever. We walked to and from the French Quarter day and night. All in all, our group felt we had hit the jackpot with the Villere Suites.
Great place! Four friends and I stayed here for about a week and we had no issues whatsoever. We were able to check in early, which was great! We walked to the French quarter multiple times a day at all different times of the day and we never had any problems. It's quite a nice walk, especially when it's nice outside.
The market on the corner is great for grabbing drinks or snacks, but for more substantial food there was a grocery store in the French quarter that satisfied all our needs.
The neighborhood is great and everyone is so friendly! You won't regret staying here, I promise!
The only "problem" we had (and it wasn't that big of an issue) was that cabs weren't easy to find, and calling them resulted in waiting for quite a while. This could be because we were there right before Christmas, and New Orleans was hopping!
Overall, great experience. Perfect size for 5 people.
Great bed and breakfast! Gwen and Emmitt were very helpful and great hosts. The house was clean and stocked with all the essentials. 2 beds & 2 full baths upstairs and a pull out couch with a half bath on the main level. Great for multiple people. I highly recommend the Villere suite!
Everything was really great. It was a nice place and the owner handled all our needs promptly and with pleasure. We had a car and were able to hit Frenchman street and also French Quarter very easily.
This place was amazing, very comfortable, and quiet/relaxing during the night. Mrs. Charles and Charlotte were very nice and accommodating. They made some great recommendations, like heading to the Treme Culture Festival and to Cajon Seafood for dinner one night (we actually went there twice during our stay in New Orleans). The festival was a great surprise, considering that we only heard about the Crescent City Blues and BBQ festival that was also that weekend, and had a lot of fun attending. Also, true to their word, the Hilaire Suite was walking distance to almost everything from the French Market to Bourbon Street and Frenchmen Street in the Marigny. I recommend that if you are ever in New Orleans, stay at this place. I plan on staying there, again, next time we are down in New Orleans.
Great place (attention to detail with all the commodities) and great location (walking distance from french quarter and in a "authentic" neighborhood). The "house holder" is great as well, not only nice and friendly but also laid back and relaxed. Recommended!
