We stayed in Pochote at Angie's place for 3 nights with 2 adults and 1 child - although there is plenty of room for more. We arrived a little early and found the house ok (small town, house right on the beach) but could not get in. Within 2 minutes, the caretaker was there on his bicycle to let us in. He had seen us drive into the village. Neisy, the other caretaker, was very friendly also! She called the house phone after we arrived to check in and see if we needed anything, and stopped by to greet us the next morning.
We loved the hammocks and table on the front patio - we spent all of our time at the house, on the front porch or walking the beach. Not only was the beach practically all ours, it is pristine and beautiful.
I found the house to be very clean and updated. LOTS of towels were made available which is always helpful, as well as sheets, pillows and blankets. The kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, even a coffee maker, blender and toaster. (bring your own coffee filters or use the percolator stovetop option) The outdoor shower was wonderful as well, I think we used it more than the indoor shower!
I had to work online during our stay, and the internet was very good and access through US VPN was no issue - such a relief.
The first day we relaxed at the house. The second day we had booked a trip to Isla Tortuga with Zuma Tours. They park their boats in Pochote 5 min from the house, so we walked to get on the boat in the morning before they headed to Montezuma. (we were also able to stop in the grocery store at the end of the day before returning with the boat to Pochote, which is great. Only one tiny tienda in Pochote) The third day, the 12 year old was feeling a bit restless, so we paid for all day passes at the nearby All-Inclusive Resort 'Barcelo Tambor'. The passes provided us access to their big, beautiful pool, mini golf, trampoline, unlimited drinks and meals for kids and adults. We had a wonderful day!
The rumor is true, the American-Expat neighbor loves dogs! He has quite a few, who are friendly, but do bark at night, but are very good security guards!
