Angie's place in Pochote, Costa Rica (Tambor) is a fantastic place to relax, spend time on the beach and utilize as a base for day trips to other more populated beach spots (Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, Montezuma, etc). The home is clean and well equipped with pots/pans/frying pans if you want to make your own meals. Communication with Angie was timely and efficient and her detailed instructions regarding the home made our stay there easy and pleasant. Neisy, her manager, was there waiting for us and it was super easy to get in touch with her during the week as there is a landline phone in the house! Neisy is very kind and helpful, recommending the best local restaurants and full of information about the other beaches in the Nicoya Peninsula. The wifi was good...not always perfect, but generally consistent in performance. The next door neighbor now has 9 dogs but they are all gentle, provide barking watchfulness when necessary but certainly not a nuisance. The scarlet macaw "family" were a daily feast to the eyes, in the trees around the property! They are more noisy than the dogs ;-) Loved the outdoor shower after the beach and the air conditioning for night! The bedroom upstairs is huge with a private toilet/sink upstairs as well. It's a fairly steep ladder to access the upstairs but for those who can't manage, there is a comfortable double bed on the lower living level. The full bathroom with shower is downstairs. The verandah with its huge table, chairs and hammock is where you will spend all of your time....with a view to the beach. It doesn't get better than that....even in the rain!

We stayed in Pochote at Angie's place for 3 nights with 2 adults and 1 child - although there is plenty of room for more. We arrived a little early and found the house ok (small town, house right on the beach) but could not get in. Within 2 minutes, the caretaker was there on his bicycle to let us in. He had seen us drive into the village. Neisy, the other caretaker, was very friendly also! She called the house phone after we arrived to check in and see if we needed anything, and stopped by to greet us the next morning. We loved the hammocks and table on the front patio - we spent all of our time at the house, on the front porch or walking the beach. Not only was the beach practically all ours, it is pristine and beautiful. I found the house to be very clean and updated. LOTS of towels were made available which is always helpful, as well as sheets, pillows and blankets. The kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, even a coffee maker, blender and toaster. (bring your own coffee filters or use the percolator stovetop option) The outdoor shower was wonderful as well, I think we used it more than the indoor shower! I had to work online during our stay, and the internet was very good and access through US VPN was no issue - such a relief. The first day we relaxed at the house. The second day we had booked a trip to Isla Tortuga with Zuma Tours. They park their boats in Pochote 5 min from the house, so we walked to get on the boat in the morning before they headed to Montezuma. (we were also able to stop in the grocery store at the end of the day before returning with the boat to Pochote, which is great. Only one tiny tienda in Pochote) The third day, the 12 year old was feeling a bit restless, so we paid for all day passes at the nearby All-Inclusive Resort 'Barcelo Tambor'. The passes provided us access to their big, beautiful pool, mini golf, trampoline, unlimited drinks and meals for kids and adults. We had a wonderful day! The rumor is true, the American-Expat neighbor loves dogs! He has quite a few, who are friendly, but do bark at night, but are very good security guards!

This house on the water's edge is very unique. Perfect for a quiet get away. The house has everything you will need (fully stocked kitchen, bath towels and linens along with A/C and hot water). Several houses in town sale fish daily so it is easy to prepare meals. There is great snorkeling just across where the river comes into the bay at the rocks. Also a great white sand beach is just beyond the rock jetty. The local guys that work the boats that are harbored there at Pochote are really knowledge about the area and are most helpful. We went out with Cobo Blanco Tours, Our boat captain Tabus was wonderful. He was very couteous and worked hard to be sure we had a pleasurable experience. As stated on the listing the neighbor has 8 dogs that do bark through out the night and run loose on the beach. All of which can be annoying. But we loved the area and the people and we are planning our return trip.

My husband and I work and live on an island in Washington State. We love to see new places and are active travelers. Always looking for a snow hill, a bike path, a surf beach or a place to volunteer.
