About This Listing
As Stefan would say, this place has EVERYTHING! This 1/1 duplex apt is oh so close to Mopac (no, really!) & Windsor. It has a mid-cent. modern vibe, int. brick walls, cool furniture, ALL up-to-date, 2 TVs w/ cable, wifi, cool patio, 3 mins to dtown.
This place has one queen bed and a sofa. So, it officially sleeps 2, but a third person could always rough it on the sofa. It has painted interior brick walls, mid-century modern construction, cool furniture, lofted ceilings, and nonstop style--all tucked into a super central location!
Although the layout makes the Suite Sweet feel quite spacious, at 500 square feet it is very efficient. It is heated and cooled through window and portable units.
Wifi, cable TV, stackable W/D, microwave, free onsite parking, dishwasher, disposal, and being within minutes of everything.
Combo deadbolt makes access a breeze! No fumbling around with keys.
Interaction with Guests
The Sweet Central Suite is the "B" side of a duplex. (Deluxe Digs is the "A" side and is also on AirBNB.) I live off site, so we won't be hanging out together.
This property is located on a street that is as close as you can get to Mopac, running parallel with it. This street features smaller homes built in the 1950s, but one street over (in the other direction) is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Austin, featuring beautiful, stately, older homes. Great neighborhood for walking and running. Three minutes (by car) from Clarksville and West Austin restaurants like Jeffrey's, Josephine House, Cippolinas, and Wink, and coffee shops like Cafe Medicci's. Flagship Whole Foods Market is 5 minutes away.
1. No smoking.
2. No pets.
3. It's a duplex, so be considerate of the guests in the "A" side.
4. Have fun.
5. Be nice.
We loved everything about this place. Exactly how it looks in the pictures. It was a great setup for two! The kitchen and bathroom were very nice and new and the bed was heavenly. There was a hairdryer and everything.
Impeccably clean, super cute, and it had everything we needed. (a colander!) I wouldn't recommend the bed to anyone who prefers a really firm mattress as it was the absolute softest and most comfortable bed in the world. They just wouldn't appreciate it. We were also pleasantly surprised to find that everything we wanted to do was within 15 minutes in any direction. There was some construction but the noise didn't really bother us. Once inside you could barely hear anything. The only thing I missed was Cable TV since I'm old fashioned and don't travel with my computer or tablet. But I'm sure most people who do wouldn't have even noticed it missing. The neighborhood was also really nice and quiet. It was a perfect home away from home. Thanks Christina!
My mom and I just stayed here over Easter weekend for a girls trip together. Christina was a great host and made staying at the Sweet Central Suite easy! Not only that but the space is beautiful, with a well appointed mid-century vibe. It is obvious that Christina takes a lot of pride in it, and care to provide her guests with a great stay. It was immaculately clean upon our arrival. The bed was very comfortable. Having a full kitchen at our disposal was a great asset. The location made accessing the different neighborhoods a breeze, with its location next to MOPAC, and being able to be in downtown within minutes (even not using the freeways). I even enjoyed going for evening runs in the beautiful surrounding neighborhood. It is right next to the freeway, but we didn't even notice the car noise at night. We would definitely love to stay here again!
The place was a gem. Great location tucked in a cul de sac. Right off freeway and close to everything. Very clean, well appointed, and such a comfy bed. She made it very easy for us to check in and she was quick to respond when we had questions. What a great value!
We loved our stay at Christina's casa. It's located off 24th street, so it's within easy striking distance of the UT campus and downtown. The duplex is super clean, well designed, and comes with a washer and dryer. We would definitely stay again.
We loved staying at Christina's! A lovely space, comfy bed and great shower. Christina communicated well with us and always very quickly.
We had been in town for SXSW and having stayed in a bland hotel for part of the stay it was a relief to stay in this cozy space.
The neighborhood is quiet and we slept well, barely noticing the nearby MOPAC.
Being without a car it was only $10 in a cab downtown and the cabs found us easily.
Thanks Christina, we would highly recommend and definitely stay again if we're in Austin :)
I rented this apartment for my parents who came to visit for over three weeks. Overall, it was a positive experience. The apartment looked just like on the photos, clean and stylish. Christine was a responsive host, answered several of my questions ahead of time and over the first few days of my parents' stay, until they got completely settled.
She also reacted quickly when a couple of days into their stay, my parents discovered a mess left by a previous tenant that the cleaners didn't catch. We talked about the issue within an hour, found a quick fix and then Christine came by the following day to make sure everything was clean.
The neighborhood around the apartment is very nice, with quiet walkable streets. There's a grocery store and a couple of neighborhood restaurants and shops within a 20-minute stroll. Everything else is within a short drive away - downtown, more shopping, etc. The only issue is that the duplex where the apartment is located sits right next to a highway that also has train tracks and the highway is currently undergoing improvement, so there's construction vehicles, noise and mud/dust in close proximity. There's nothing the host can do about this and we knew all this before we booked, because in our case it was important that my parents stayed closer to the neighborhood where we live. I am taking off a star because my parents said it was pretty noisy at night, they could hear the road and the trains, but, thankfully, no construction noise (I think all work takes plays during the day). Again, not the host's fault, and may not be an issue for everyone.
All in all, the apartment had everything my parents needed, it was comfortable, stayed warm on cold days in late Feb-early March and everything in it worked (Wi-Fi, plumbing, heater, etc). Thanks!
The good news: They are building a sound wall between the highway/train tracks and the property that will greatly reduce if not eliminate the noise.
The bad news: It's not done yet, and construction causes noise and dust. [Insert joke here about the price of progress or a "One step forward..." quip.]
In the meantime, I'm equipping the property with a white noise machine from Brookstone. Thank you for the feedback!

About the Host, Christina
I'm a proud native Austinite and an even prouder mother of two. I think it's the combination of those two things that makes me love being an AirBNB host in ATX as much as I do! When I'm not cleaning and prepping Sweet Central Suite for you, dear guest, I enjoy running around Lady Bird Lake, movies at Violet Crown Cinema, and/or eating at El Alma. And I highly recommend any and all of these things to you during your stay!
