  • What an adorable place! Amanda was such a wonderful host! She met up with us to show us around the house, and then let us enjoy the property at our own speed. She was very attentive and was only a text away if we needed anything.

The property is up in the country side and overlooks the ocean (which made for a beautiful sunset), and a vineyard! The hosts also offered fresh organic veggies for sale. We ended up purchasing the 5 pound box, which ended up being one of the best decisions made on our entire trip! If you love cooking and eating healthy, we TOTALLY recommend that service. Amanda also made us fresh squeezed juice for breakfast one morning, and it was delicious!

The house itself was just perfect for the two of us. Cozy, but spacious with a nice kitchen with lots of counter space, a full refrigerator and a huge bathroom! The hosts provided fresh drinking water, towels and most other necessities. It was a perfect spot for us to wake up early to see the sunrise at Haleakala National Park (only a 45 min drive), and was truly a special place for our paradise experience.

  • We enjoyed our stay with Jason and Amanda very much. They were very responsive before our stay so we knew what to expect and the house/property is just as they describe it - a "rustic sanctuary". Having only stayed one night, we didn't get to experience the noticeable tranquility as much as we would have liked, but you could feel it in the air there. We opted for an egg breakfast the next morning and it was wonderful, I highly recommend doing that at least once. Thanks Jason and Amanda :)

  • I and my husband had an unforgettable moment at Jason and Amanda's lovely cabin. Amanda was such a great communicator to make sure if we are comfortable during our stay including booking. We already missed their heavenly beautiful place. This is the place to give you love and peace.

  • Jason and Amanda were wonderful hosts! The cottage is lovely, with a spacious bathroom with large windows (high up for privacy!). The views from the property are indeed spectacular, and the location is great - half an hour from the beach, but right in the middle of upcountry to explore farms and small towns. There were beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers in every room - a nice touch. A very lovely, special, relaxing place!

  • This was an amazing place to stay. The one bedroom was quaint and cozy and the view is spectacular. Jason and Amanda were very flexible with our changing schedule and we're great hosts during our stay! We were headed to Haleakala the next morning so the location was very convenient.

  • We spent some beautiful days and nights at Jason and Amanda's place. Their place is a bit out of the way, but definitely worth the drive. It is so calm at night and the sky is very starry. The view from the yard is terrific, you can see Molokini and some other islands. Upcountry Maui is very different from the rest of the island and we recommend everyone to see it. The cottage is basic but has everything you need, except internet maybe ;-) Amanda and Jason were very good hosts and so helpful. They have a file with some different activities that they recommend which was very useful. There is a winery just next door where we tried some wine. We would definitely want to come back! Thanks for hosting

  • Jason and Amanda were great hosts. I contacted them prior to our stay to make sure our just past midnight arrival would be ok. Jason met us at the house, showed us around, and let us crash. We enjoyed a great breakfast the next morning and our entire stay at this great cabin. It was great to be able to get away from the busy tourist destinations and relax in the quiet every evening. We enjoyed the great views from the house, and would very much stay again.

We took advantage of Jason and Amanda's offer of a 5lb box of fresh organic veggies and enjoyed cooking with them throughout our stay.

  • I arrived at Jason and Amanda's after having camped for a week with a friend in maui and was so pleased to find such a lovely place to spend the rest of our trip in. The house was perfect, lovely and cozy, warm shower and beautiful surroundings. I couldn't have asked for a more spectacular view or more welcoming and accommodating hosts. Highly recommend staying here!

  • We landed in Maui on Dec 29 and we have been warmly welcomed by Jason & Amanda. Prior to our arrival, they sent us the directions to their property which is at 30 min' from the airport. We were their first renters. The cabin is in on a big and wonderful shared property of Upcountry, where Jason & Amanda live, located on winding and scenic Kula Highway. They prepared a blinder with all the places to visit and nice activities to do in their area (Horse riding, wineries, lavender producers, yoga classes, snorkeling...) The ocean view is amazing and the yard full of tropical vegetation and fruits (Avocados, clementines, lemons, papayas, macadamia nuts...) The cabin is very simple but well appointed. You can easily cook in the kitchen. There is a huge fridge, a washing machine and a dryer. The bathroom is a nice and big separated room (four steps in the backyard). The cabin can accommodate 4 sleeping: one sofa bed in the living room, one queen bed in the bedroom. Our girls, Louise (10) & Chloe (5) immediately loved that place! They hung their clothes, stored their suitcases under the bed, and were ready for discovering Maui! You can reach Makawao (historic village with shops and restaurants) in 15min, Paia, and Maaela Harbor in 30/40 min, Halakalea Crater Summit within one hour in a very unique landscape. Lahaina and the west coast is at one hour. We have been there once. The town is nice... full of tourists, shops and restaurants. We preferred by far to lodge in the quiet country side. The Maalaea Harbor is a the place to go for Whale Watching with the Pacific Whale Foundation. It was marvelous to see that close so many whales, dolphins and flying fishes! To reach famous Hana Road, drive trough Makawao (less than one hour), traffic through Paia can be very busy. We enjoyed Hana Road (Tropical Garden, Flowing Falls, Sacred Pools, 68 miles, 59 bridges, 620 curves...) and we survived Piilani Road: a winding lumpy, bumpy narrow of patchwork asphalt in a dreamy landscape: seascape, Pilmoe Cender cone, the 17th century lava field on the Ocean, the uninhabited island Kahoolawe, off the distance behind the Pilmoe). When you come back from all these adventures, you open the gate of Jason & Amanda's property and you look at the breathtaking sunset over Molokini, you can tell: it's paradise! This place is peaceful and connected to the Nature. Something very important was missing in the kitchen: a cork-screw! But now, there is one ;-) We spent our 6th & last evening at Jason & Amanda's (and their two adorable girls) house to share a moment, and celebrate the New Year. They are very sweet, human, and unique people! Mahalo for everything! We will be back.

We are a loving, spirited family who is so excited to welcome others to our spectacular Maui sanctuary (Jason, Amanda, Madeline - age 5, and Sophia - age 2). Jason works on an organic farm and is working on developing the family garden, Amanda is a Transformational Educator and facilitates workshops, retreats and has a private practice, Madeline attends Kindergarten at the Haleakala Waldorf School and Sophia plays daily at her pre-school, Fun, 2, 3! Three years ago we decided to make a drastic lifestyle change. We quit our Corporate careers in New York City, sold everything we owned in our Tribeca apartment and California home, and move on to a simpler lifestyle that is more in tune with the flow of Nature. We had always LOVED visiting Maui so we chose Hawaii as the perfect backdrop for this new phase in our lives! We first stopped on the Big Island and used this time as a very necessary "decompression" opportunity. We loved our Big Island, jungle experience but after 2 years, we knew it was time to move on and that Maui was where we would make our permanent home. We didn't even know Ulupalakua (the location of the property) existed before we moved here and we were blown away when we discovered it! Located on the slopes of Haleakala, you can see 5 different islands, breathtaking nightly sunsets, and all around us is peaceful pasture land and a vineyard next door. Most people never experience this spectacular side of Maui and we are thrilled to share it with others! We live in the main home on the property and the cabin is situated with plenty of privacy but close enough so we can assist you with your vacation needs! As a family, we have dedicated our lives to health & well-being. This property provides the perfect space for us to share this passion with others! Experience nature, peace, and total rejuvenation at our peaceful sanctuary.
