This was our first visit to San José and we highly appreciate how helpful Bjorn and Alcides were in advising us the best places to go and also best times of the day. Both are very helpful and willing to help with anything that you need. You can see this same courtesy extended to the other guests staying at the hotel.
Escazú is a pretty neighbourhood in San José. Nestled in its surrounding hills. El Quijote affords you the ever changing views of the city. I still recall watching the ever changing skylines from the terrace at Posada el Quijote. The Spanish style hotel is well located for other reasons. You can walk or take a short minute or so drive to nearby restaurants, supermarkets, and you are close to other shopping experiences. Whether it is ‘Multiplaza’, the biggest shopping mall in Central America or the rustic experience of the fresh produce market in Escazú on Saturday.
The great part about staying in an apartment was that we also had access to the B&B options. It was lovely to be able to have a daily full breakfast option. The Gallo Pinto and the fresh tropical fruit was nothing but perfect. I am not usually a lover of papaya, but it was delightfully sweet and the pineapple too. We also found we had all we needed to prepare our own meals in the neat kitchen. There is both an inside and outside dining table. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the peacefulness of the garden and our own private terrace.
Our little apartment was very comfortable and clean. We are travelling with our young daughter. She had her own space but due to the open plan design of the apartment she felt comforted being able to see us. We slept really well in the king size bed. There was lots of space for our clothes and belongings. The bathroom was very clean and functional.
I feel like we have found a little home away from home at Posada el Quijote. If for any reason we had to stay in the area for a long period of time again, we have no need to look elsewhere, we know this is the place to stay. In fact we are staying again twice as a stop-by on our travels around Costa Rica. And even now I am dreaming of my breakfast and the smiling faces of the staff at Posada el Quijote.
