You will receive an entry code combination and detailed check-instructions when the room is ready on the day of your arrival. Typically check in is anytime after 5:00PM but we will do our best to check you in earlier. There is no space for storing bags, so we cannot hold your bags while you are seeing the town. I recommend leaving your bags at a hotel concierge until your ready to check in we just have no room to store them.
Please send all/any communications via airbnb site so that I can know who you are and what room your in when we are communicating. Calling or texting is not encouraged unless it's an emergency. Please ask any questions through airbnb

The room was as advertised. Comfortable and hassle free experience.
Mejai was a great host.
First off, I wasn't actually able to stay at this AirBnB due to logistics even though I made a reservation and paid for it, so this review is based solely off of my interactions with the host, Mejai, before my reservation.
Check-in time was 5pm and check-out time was 11am. The confirmation email I got didn't include the times (my mistake for not checking the details), so I didn't realize check-in was 5pm until I looked at my app a couple days before. I messaged Mejai to see if I could check-in earlier since I was there for Lollapalooza and the festival began at 11am. Unfortunately, I didn't get a definite answer until the day of my reservation (still couldn't check-in any earlier than 3-4pm) and that was after calling Mejai. I wasn't able to drop off luggage before check-in time either. I ended up forfeiting my whole reservation due to logistics and safety precautions, which was very unfortunate. Mejai seemed like a really nice guy over the phone.
The check-in time and strict cancellation policy were probably the most troublesome for me, so as long as you keep those details in mind, you'll be fine. As for safety, there was a shooting in the area about 2 months before, so I definitely took that into consideration even though previous reviews said the area was decent.
Very warm welcoming and great room! If we ever come back, we'd know where to stay!
Arrived the weekend of 4th of July, Mejai was away to NYC for that period and did not get to see him. 2 days before checking in I texted him and received an answer 24 hours later - Mejai can reply slow sometimes so do text early. Went into the house via instructions given in his text and found the room just fine.
The house is situated in Bronzeville, if you have questions about the safety of this area, you are always welcomed to google it. That being said this is an AirBnB experience so please do your due diligence carefully. In my opinion the cheap lodging was what sealed the deal although, the 50% strict cancellation can be a pain in the ass.
Arriving at the place I found myself fearing for my safety, in a huge way. The environment and the constant police sirens ringing in the background coupled with frequent weird looks from the residents made us head out early in the morning and come back really early at night. The location is a few stops away from The Loop, and a short walk can take you to buses which runs to said area as well.
Nothing to comment on the state of the rooms, got a feeling it was cleaned on a weekly basis and not after each and every guest.
Mejai was out of town so there was no meet and greet in person. Communication with the host was fine except I didn't receive the initial text providing access instructions so I had to make myself busy for 2 hours until Mejai got back to me. It all worked out so no big deal and I found a quaint restaurant that I might not have found otherwise. Depicting the room as a Skyline View is an exaggeration. If you look hard enough out the North facing window you can glimpse a couple of buildings downtown but nothing special. The accommodations served their purpose and the house was stocked with towels and some covers. However, there was no hand soap available and so I had to go out and buy some. If other guests are staying at the house, be prepared to share a bathroom as with my case, one of the guests who was staying on the first floor used my bathroom and shower. At least I thought it was my bathroom and shower. There was a $25 cleaning fee but the house rules that are displayed in several areas throughout the house state that there is no one cleaning up after you and so you should clean your space when leaving. I don't like being charged a cleaning fee when I am the one that is doing the cleaning. The house is located in a convenient area to downtown and parking was pretty good except for one instance but given it was the weekend of July 4th, parking patterns were probably pretty crazy. Overall the place was acceptable and served its purpose but don't expect anything special.
Very easy and relaxed stay. My room was very simple. Not very clean, but ok. "Sky view" is definitely exaggerated. All in all ok, but nothing special.
