Please make sure to check all three of my listings for availability.
This apartment is totaly independant and not shared with anyone.
This apartment does not have a garden.
It is easier and faster to commute into the City from Union City than commuting from Brooklyn or Queens.
If you were to stay in the Bronx it would take you 40 min to get to Times Square. If you were to Stay in Brooklyn it would take you the same amount of time as subways in Brooklyn are not direct. If you were to stay in Manhattan you would not find a place as big as this one for this price.
The apartment is located within a 3-min walk to a bus stop the bus will take you to Times Square district in approximately 15 minutes (Important: Bus to Times Square costs $3.20 each way and bus tickets cannot be used for subway) NJ transit bus tickets cost $27 for 10 one way tickets. The bus will take you to Port Authority 42nd St subway station (lines A, C, E). This station is a central subway hub and you can easily walk to lines 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q and R. (Important: Subway tickets cost $2.5 per ride but you can buy 7-days unlimited pass at $29).
I do not recommend buying the unlimited pass as Port Authority is central and you can walk to all major tourist attractions.
It will take you 15 minutes to be directly in Times Square!!! in the comfort of a bus.

We had an amazing stay here. Our host was extremely helpful and nice and helped us in terms of the bus route and other info. The apt is really neat and as seen in pics. And I'm extremely particular about cleanliness and the bed and linens passed my tests. Overall, really nice experience.
The host was lovely and very very available for us.
The neighbourhood is a latin area where hardly you will listen english on the streets. Very calm and safe and also close to NY.
The come and going wasn't difficult, specially coming back where a single bus stopped right a block away from the house.
To go to NY we needed 2 buses.
The house was quite big and very very comfortable. Some noise from the heating pipes could be heard through the whole night thou. Parking in the areas is nearly impossible; most times I had to look for more than 30min driving around to find a parking spot and then walk at most 10 blocks back.
We spent four days in the apartment and we enjoyed our stay very much! Recommended for families! The friendly host welcomed us and showed us around. We are a family of four (2 10-year olds). The apartment was spacious for us and looked as shown on the pictures. It looked clean, there was comfortable linnen on the beds and plenty of towels for us to use. There was a folder with some extra info of the neighborhood and the bus schedule (and also very handy: the code for Free WiFi). The e-mail we received from Miyoko a month before our trip was very useful as well. You really have your own place, with everything needed (and not needed: an iron and ironing board. But if you would want to use it, great that it it's there!).
Union City is a nice and quiet area and a bakery and supermarket is around the corner. We could use the vistor pass for free parking for our rental car. Make sure that you stick to the NJ-law. We didn't park the drivers-side to the curb and got a visit from the police at 7 a.m. We were lucky our rental car had a Michigan license plate and that the police was so kind to inform us and gave us a chance to park according NJ-law, instead of writing out a ticket. But to be woken by 3 policemen does scare you at first zo better check the rules beforehand.
Travelling to and from the city worked perfect with the bus! We could pay cash in the bus (no refund) but bought the 10 NJ transit tickets as suggested. Kids under 12 travel half price and are free in the weekends (and during the season although it appeared that not all staff of NJ transit agreed on that last part). Anyway, cheap and safe way to travel and the buses we used traveled on time.
If we would visit NY again, we would come back to this apartment!
Francisco y familia.
I found the apartment to be very clean and spacious. I rented it as a single, but a couple, even a couple with 1-2 children, would have felt comfortable. A large kitchen, a large dining table, a large screen TV, and so on. When it got cold, the heating worked O.K.
The neighborhood is nice. However, I found the the local groceries to be a bit lacking in offerings. With a car, one could drive to a supermarket. I did not rent a car, and brought some supplies from Manhattan.
The bus service to Manhattan is timely and reliable. Every 20 minutes weekdays, a bit less frequent weekends. It would be nicer to have a place in mid Manhattan, but the price difference is quite a bit. It may take more than 15 minutes to Manhattan, especially during rush hour.
Altogether, I was satisfied. I did not need to interact with the host, except when I left.
We arrived at JFK around 5 PM. After a slow taxi ride (traffic was crazy) we arrived short before 8 PM at our home away from home. We received a lovely welcome from our host who showed the important stuff. The apartment is located in the basement of a 2 story building and looks exactly like in the pictures. The beds were made with nice sheets and covers, there were lots of towels in the bathroom for us to use. There is one large cupboard and and a walk-in closet so there is much space available to hang your clothes. Wifi and cable TV works perfectly. The neighborhood is nice and the bus ride to 42nd street/Port Authority Bus Terminal only takes 15 minutes in off hours. If you travel during rush hours you have to add another 15 minutes. But hey, we were on vacation! There are local restaurants and convenient stores close by. There is also a liquor store, ATM/Bank etc just around the corners. We truly liked the place and would gladly recommend it.
Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by Vilma.
The apartment is clean and spacious, just as shown in the photos. The mattresses weren't firm, but sufficed for one night. The neighborhood felt safe and offers several grocery stores and places to dine all within a short walk. The apartment is conveniently located just a few blocks from the bus line to Manhattan.
Vilma was most helpful in getting us settled in. She lives above the apartment and was readily available to help answer questions about parking, the neighborhood, and transportation to Manhattan.
Thank you Vilma and Miyoko for making our stay comfortable.
