We are 2 min. walking distance from main shopping street (Kıbrıs Şehitleri Caddesi) in Alsancak and 5 min. from seaside (Kordon). Our house is situated in a very lively neighbourhood at the heart of the city; very close to bar streets, nice fish restaurants, cafes and supermarket. We can also give you tips about where to eat good and cheap food. Every Sunday there is local market close to our street where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and delicious cheese directly from local producers. It is very easy to access to public transportation; just 5 minutes from bus station, 10 minutes from Alsancak ferry port and 5 minutes walking distance to Alsancak train station and IZBAN subway station which you can reach the Airport within 40 minutes.
We are a young couple at the age of 30. We speak fluent English and German. We are living at the upest story and most of the time at least one of us will be around, so you can ask if you need something.
My flight got delayed by an hour, thus missing the metro that goes almost next to her house. Because of this, I arrived past midnight and had to take a bus and a taxi via the longer way. Ezgi was very patient and waited up for me and gave me clear instructions on how to commute via bus/taxi. She never showed any signs of irritation or discomfort when I obviously disturbed her from her rest.
She loaned me her metro card and gave good instructions both verbally, via email and via airbnb inbox on how to get around. She was very knowledgeable of the places to go to and even restos to try out.
I had a pleasure of sharing a drink and a short conversation with Ezgi and her husband, who is as pleasant and friendly as she.
Their pillows seem to be made in heaven -- as the minute I lay my head on them, I almost instantly fell asleep! The room wasn't big, but it was comfortable, had a ceiling fan for more breeze, and the room extends out to a veranda where you can relax and just put your feet up and maybe drink wine. The toilet and bath was the best in where I've stayed so far. It's as if you're at home using a nice cozy shower.
All in all, this cozy room in this rustic house in an old-style neighborhood (which is 10mins away from the pier/seaside) is a must try while you're in the Izmir side of Turkey!
I hope to see you and Emmanuel when you guys swing by my side of Southeast Asia! :)
I stayed with Ezgi for two nights. Her home is very near the railway station and is very close to the seaside. On my first evening Ezgi took me for an 'orientation' walk of the area which was really helpful. She also provided me with lots of useful tips about where to eat and what to see. I would certainly stay with Ezgi again if I returned to Izmir.
Ezgi is a natural at hosting because she cares and is interested in the needs of her guests. Her house is centrally located in Izmir close to public transport to take or connect you anywhere you need to go.
My room was quiet and the bed was extremely comfortable. Other guests were lovely. Ezgi's husband Emmanuelle is very entertaining and a nice person.
Ezgi goes the full mile to look after you even meeting me upon arrival quite late at night at the Izban station from the airport.
I had a lovely time at their house in Turkey and would highly recommend.
Ezgi is very kind and ready to help.
The Greek house is very charming and located in the very center of Izmir so you can visit the city as you like. It's very close to many markets and shops. A perfect place to stay in Izmir!
Very beautiful old greek house and well renovated. Excellent location and excellent hosting, you will feel like your home at Ezgi's place. Easy access to everywhere from Alsancak train station (also from airport).
I never got to meet Ezgi herself - she was called out of town because of a family emergency - but she did everything in her power to ensure that I had a pleasant stay, and the person I did interact with, Anastasia, was an excellent host, friendly and helpful at every turn. The house is a beautiful old place, with a courtyard and old wood staircase. On the whole, an excellent experience!
I had a brief stay with Ezgi and Emanuel and it was excellent! Their house is beautiful - and in case it's not clear - it's a freestanding house in an area that is pretty much all apartment buildings. Ezgi was very generous with her time and really went out of her way to make my stay pleasant. Highly recommended!!
