We were staying in room 6 which has a stunning view of the rainforest as well as a section of ocean (there is a viewing deck on top of the building to allow for a more expansive view).
Buena Vista VIllas is surrounded by rainforest and the howler monkeys are abundant. There are small trails which meander through the property with lots of beautiful plants. There are stunning butterflies and hummingbirds as well as an assortment of other insects, reptiles and birds.
The property is up a steep, dirt road so you will need a rental (though there is a taxi service). It isn't easy walking-distance to the ocean or the town but Nosara is very spread out so a rental would be the way to go regardless of where you are staying.
The unit was immaculately clean with no mold or mildew. It is very airy and the windows have mesh to stop insects getting in. There is enough equipment in the kitchenette to do basic cooking and the mini-fridge is very handy. Internet was a good speed and was reliable for all but the first night - it can't be accessed from all areas; just the half of the room closest to the router. The balcony is a very nice place to sit and watch the wildlife.
Jay is an extremely friendly man and clearly takes great pride in his accommodation. He gave us great information about the best beaches and various places to visit while in Nosara as well as the best restaurants (and which ones to avoid).
I would definitely stay here again if visiting Nosara - it is the perfect combination of great value, comfortable accommodation and beautiful views).
Hôte très sympathique! Nous avons été ressu avec courtoisie et gentillesse. Le logement et simple mais très propre et surtout très agréable dans un "coin de paradis" calme avec vue sur la Mer des Caraïbes. Nosara vaut vraiment une halte!
My boyfriend and I visited Nosara together for one week. Jay was a very helpful, friendly, sweet host. We felt the price, even in the high season was of excellent value. Villa 6 at the Buena Vista Villas was well maintained, with nice character, with a lovely private balcony. It was so wonderful having internet included, big bonus since we each at to do a little work while there. We stayed 1 week, and the maid came once, though no new sheets or towels. It's not an American hotel, think somewhere in between hotel and vacation rental. You have what you need. It was really nice to have the basic little kitchen for making simple meals with all of the local produce we found. We loved the location, as it was really private and felt safe. We did rent a car and are not sure why people would want to walk or not have their face covered on the dusty roads. One thing we wished people would have emphasized more is that the roads are AWFUL, bumpy, dusty and you move slow. During the heat of the day we tried to be in the water or eating ice cream, and then opened all windows and doors at night, which quickly cooled off the unit. Showers helped counteract the heat. My boyfriend loved the heat, I don't do as well, so just depends on the person. Overall, very please with our BV stay and experience, would definitely stay there again, as well as recommend it to our friends. Thanks Jay!
Jay was incredibly accommodating and really took the time to make sure everything was in place for our stay. Not a bad room at all. It did get hot and a ceiling fan didn't help much, but for the price, the value was great. Only difficulty was in the cancellation policy which was overly strict for having tried to cancel nearly a month before arriving. Otherwise, not a bad stay, and I would recommend Jay's hospitality to anyone.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Buena Vista Villas. The room was immaculate and the view was amazing. Jay is a great guy...Highly recommended!
We had a great time at Jay's place near Guiones. We stayed in the studio at the back of the complex, with a private balcony patio where we could drink our morning tea with a view of the ocean and enjoy the sunset and stars in the evening. The studio did get quite warm (no AC) but between the ceiling fan, the ocean breezes, and a cool shower, we managed to survive even high-90s days!
Jay was a gracious and informative host. While we hadn't realized how far we would be from the beach, it was actually lovely to be up the hill and away from the dusty road. The viewing platform at the top of the building -- complete with napping hammock! -- was an unexpected treat, as were the short walking trails meandering through the lush grounds. The other guests we encountered during our week's stay were friendly and quiet. We were there on Christmas Eve and enjoyed a private firework display from across the valley.
The Miel room. high on the hill with an ocean view was a great place to chill for a few days. The view was really great and I enjoyed this very clean, comfortable sanctuary. There is a 360 view two floors up on the roof-top area, complete with hammock, where the gentle breeze blew.
I also appreciated Internet since I need to be connected from time to time and was happy I did not need to leave the perch to go find a place to connect.
I did not have a car and there is taxi service that costs around $5. from the town to the Buena Vista Villas.
Jay was a wonderful and very kind host--accomodating and full of information about the area. His property is a one of a kind location that I would happily stay in every time I visit, and I only wish there was a place like Buena Vista Villas every where I decide to travel next.
