It depends on the guests.
Our neighborhood is quiet you can hear the sounds of the birds in the AM and if you listen carefully the sound of the Gulf. It's only a short walk to the beach, or you can park your and walk the trail on to the beach. Cars are not allowed on the beach or bikes.
There is taxi service in town, and we would certainly help the guests if they have a problem with transportation.

We had an absolutely brilliant time staying with Judith and Bill. First of all they are wonderful hosts who are super friendly and really go out of their we to make you feel welcome. We even shared delicious homemade cakes with them over coffee on a couple of evenings.
Secondly the cottage is just great, with the pool being the icing on the cake! The cottage has lots of space and everything worked well. Judith had also left lots of little food items etc there for us, so we had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower, AC etc all worked very well.
The location is also great. We knew nothing about the area, but we loved it. The fantastic beach is a couple of blocks away, there are nice restaurants and bars a short drive away.
All in all a superb place that we would love to return to one day.
Host was nice, pictures have the appearance of a better venue. No internet, heat was actually a heater, bed was a trundle to share with my wife.
Judith was very nice and welcoming. The cottage is conveniently located, and has a lovely swimming pool. The bed left a bit to be desired, but the rest of the cottage was wonderful.
Our stay at Curious Moon was absolutely wonderful. Judy and Bill were extremely gracious and welcoming and their property offers the comforts of home with the added benefit of relaxing by the pool (or in the pool). They offered great conversation and the warmest hospitality. It's like visiting family.
The studio cottage has plenty of room for three, which is great because our 50 pound dog was welcome there too. Also in the cottage was plenty of dishes and cookware, all standard kitchen appliances (drip coffee maker, blender, microwave, fridge, etc.), Directv with a lot of channels, WIFI, lots of books to read, some DVDs, and my personal favorite was the stovetop espresso maker.
Basically, you'll have everything you'll need to eat in of you choose. If you choose to go out, we can only recommend Joe Mama's Pizza in Port Saint Joe. That's the only restaurant we visited since we did a lot of cooking.
The beaches are beautiful and offer lots of space to breath, unlike a lot of resort cities. The public beach in Port Saint Joe is also dog-friendly! And on weekdays there's hardly anyone on the beach.
Overall we highly recommend both Port Saint Joe and Curious Moon Cottage.
This is THE best place to stay in the Mexico Beach/Port St Joe area, hands down. Judy greets you with a wine/cheese/crackers and is exceptionally fun and friendly; she is an artist and director for a local theater. Bill is just as much fun in his salty Marine way. If you want privacy, they give you plenty but they are also there if you want to chat, paint clamshells in Judy's studio, or meet some talented local artists and actors. The area is full of character, adorable cottages, one of a kind restaurants and great seafood. It's clean and safe and beaches cannot be more beautiful. Plus- you have a pool all to yourself. The guest cottage was adorable, super clean, filled with art, loads of books and videos, celing fan, controllable AC, fully supplied kitchen, very comfortable bed. Beautiful cemented/tiled private pool with shallow and deep ends. I came for quality rest and quiet meditation after an intense year of work, and I got exactly what I needed. This is the best kept secret on the Gulf.
We had an amazing time! We spent so much time swimming in the beautiful pool and cooking on the grill, then riding bikes to the beach or driving to visit other beaches! Cute little place for a small family and Judith and Bill were so sweet. We painted and hung out with Judith and had her yummy cake and delicious latte. I will miss them. Great place to stay!
About the Host, Judith
My husband and I are retired from our own Business. We had a antique guesthouse and cafe in the Caribbean Island,Boqueron, Puerto Rico, it was called Wildflowers, Antique Guesthouse & Cafe. We also owned a quest cottage on Little Sodus Bay, Lake Onatario as well as, an Art Gallery and Cafe. I am also a Member of The Board of Directors of The Panhandle Players Community Theater of The Forgotten Coast, Appalachicola, Fl. as well as one of it's Thespians. So here we are in beautiful St. Joe Beach, and loving it..
We chose this area because a friend of mine new that I would really like it here. She was right. It's a little private getaway. what is also great about our area is that the beach is never crowded.
Whats unique about this area is that the white sand beaches are so beautiful, serene, relaxing. It's not overpopulated here, just the opposite. We have everything here, fishing, hunting, sailing, surfing, great seafood and dining. The people in this area are very welcoming and congienal. The rental cottage is quaint, right next to the pool and you are just two short blocks away from the beach. Our area is very quiet and relaxing , and y ou'll feel very much at home.
