Curious Moon is a charming studio apartment behind the owners home. In addition to the apartment you have free access to the pool and an arts and craft porch that has art supplies you can use if you wish. Judith was gracious and generous. She makes delicious breads and scones and was most helpful in directing us to a seafood place. The only drawback was the trundle bed, which functions more like two twin beds.
Barbara, thanks for a great review, sorry about the Trundle bed, but as I explained to you that we also have fishermen, and hunters that stay with us. We have also had a mother and son. We try to accommodate everyone. If the straps are put on correctly they do work. I think that I also mention the Trundle Pop-up bed in the description. Again sorry about that.
We were welcomed with wine and cheese and helpful information about the area. She answered all of our questions and made us feel comfortable about using the amenities as much as or as little as we wanted. I loved the area! Mexico Beach is a little crowded, but in the Port St. Joe area of the beach, we felt relatively secluded -- which is what we wanted. We safely biked to and from the beach (although we could have walked) and around the neighborhood.
Hi Sunny, Thanks for the great review, Bill and I talked about getting a queen size bed, but we don't always have a couple sometimes we have fisherman and they don't want to sleep together. The Daybed with a Pop-up Trundle are two twin beds. Hope your trip home was a good one. Thanks for choosing us. Bill & Judith
Had a great time staying at Curious Moon Cottage. Very peaceful and quite, great place to get away from the busy city life. This is the place to go if you are looking to just spend your days on the beach.
Judith is super sweet and helpful for whatever you need. Made a great new friend staying at her cottage. Next time I will bring my Boston Terriers.
Our stay at the Curious Moon Studio Cottage was an absolute delight! Judy and Bill were so warm and welcoming that we felt like family, starting with sharing Judy's orange-coconut cake on the screened-in porch the evening of our arrival. Judy also had fruit, cheese and crackers, and a bottle of wine waiting for us in the cottage when we got there.
The cottage was perfect for two guests, with plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, utensils and appliances, and there was a good supply of clean towels and linens for our use. Everything was absolutely clean.
The daybed & trundle turned into a very comfortable king bed when secured together with a kit made for just that - my sweetheart is 6' 3", and we slept wonderfully on it.
The cottage's location is amazing - it's just a short walk to the beautiful (and uncrowded) beach, as well as an easy drive to Mexico Beach businesses and Port St. Joe.
And the pool! As a previous guest noted, it's absolutely the icing on the cake. We SO enjoyed using it - both during the day and in the evenings, when we could see so many stars in the beautiful night sky.
It was a perfect vacation at the Curious Moon Studio Cottage, thanks to our wonderful hosts (and now friends!). We can't wait to visit again!
We had an absolutely brilliant time staying with Judith and Bill. First of all they are wonderful hosts who are super friendly and really go out of their we to make you feel welcome. We even shared delicious homemade cakes with them over coffee on a couple of evenings.
Secondly the cottage is just great, with the pool being the icing on the cake! The cottage has lots of space and everything worked well. Judith had also left lots of little food items etc there for us, so we had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower, AC etc all worked very well.
The location is also great. We knew nothing about the area, but we loved it. The fantastic beach is a couple of blocks away, there are nice restaurants and bars a short drive away.
All in all a superb place that we would love to return to one day.
Host was nice, pictures have the appearance of a better venue. No internet, heat was actually a heater, bed was a trundle to share with my wife.
Judith was very nice and welcoming. The cottage is conveniently located, and has a lovely swimming pool. The bed left a bit to be desired, but the rest of the cottage was wonderful.
About the Host, Judith
My husband and I are retired from our own Business. We had a antique guesthouse and cafe in the Caribbean Island,Boqueron, Puerto Rico, it was called Wildflowers, Antique Guesthouse & Cafe. We also owned a quest cottage on Little Sodus Bay, Lake Onatario as well as, an Art Gallery and Cafe. I am also a Member of The Board of Directors of The Panhandle Players Community Theater of The Forgotten Coast, Appalachicola, Fl. as well as one of it's Thespians. So here we are in beautiful St. Joe Beach, and loving it..
We chose this area because a friend of mine new that I would really like it here. She was right. It's a little private getaway. what is also great about our area is that the beach is never crowded.
Whats unique about this area is that the white sand beaches are so beautiful, serene, relaxing. It's not overpopulated here, just the opposite. We have everything here, fishing, hunting, sailing, surfing, great seafood and dining. The people in this area are very welcoming and congienal. The rental cottage is quaint, right next to the pool and you are just two short blocks away from the beach. Our area is very quiet and relaxing , and y ou'll feel very much at home.
