About this listing
Your private, sunny suite includes 2 bedrooms, a full bath, family room and breakfast nook. The space is set away from the rest of the house so it is quiet, but if you need us for anything, we are generally close by or reachable by phone.
Your private entrance will lead you into the family room, complete with comfortable couch, TV and DVD player, and 2 pianos that you are welcome to play. There is a breakfast nook that will be supplied with a coffee maker, coffee, hot water pot and assorted teas, sugar and honey. There is a small refrigerator where you will find orange juice and whatever other breakfast choices we have. Before you arrive I will check with you about what you would like for breakfast; freshly baked items or fruit salad with yogurt and/or my homemade granola. Continuing up the stairs you will find the newly remodeled bathroom with a lovely shower. The 2 bedrooms each have a queen-sized bed with memory foam topper on the mattress. Both bedrooms have ample closet space, and two large windows with second-floor views of the orchard and beyond. There is a desk in one of the rooms.
The yard, over an acre large, is part of what makes us so happy to call this place home. We have dozens of apple trees, abundant berries of several types, a kiwi arbor, and gardens with various flowers and vegetables. It is always available for your enjoyment, and we welcome you to pick whatever's in season!
Our kitchen space is available to you. We are a vegetarian household so we ask that you do not cook meat in our kitchen. There is also a blender, a toaster and a microwave and conventional stovetop and oven.
Interaction with Guests
We're friendly and enjoy meeting visitors and helping them get settled and oriented. However, we also respect our guests' privacy and have busy schedules of our own.
We live on a quiet road with no through traffic, in a rural setting atop rolling hills. The houses are set far apart, so we have privacy and are hardly aware of neighbors. Sometimes deer and wild turkeys pass through our yard--and hummingbirds visit us daily!
Despite the rural feel, we are a mere 1.3 miles from downtown--a pleasant 25 minute walk. Bus travel in the region is limited. Biking is very popular in our area.
Other Things to Note
We are a beautiful 8 minute walk from Luther Burbank's summer cottage and horticultural farm, and 1 mile away from a county park with over 160 acres of natural terrain, traversed by asphalt and dirt paths for walkers, runners and cyclists.
Several wineries and tasting rooms are within a 10 mile radius.
Also, my husband, John, is a fabulous musician and he will be happy to play music with children or adults, depending on the day of the week, if you are interested. We have had many wonderful musical experiences with our Airbnb visitors.
We expect our guests to be kind, considerate, respectful of our home.
Staying in Leslie and John's suite was one of the nicest airbnb experiences we've had so far, and the suite is a great value. Leslie is flexible, welcoming, and kind. The property has beautiful views and the grounds include an apple orchard and garden which Leslie welcomed us to explore and enjoy. We loved seeing deer roaming the orchard in the morning!
John generously took the time to sit with us and go over a hand-drawn map of the area, suggesting places for us to visit during our stay. Tea, coffee, and breakfast (yogurt, fruit, and granola) was also provided which was a lovely touch. We would love to stay with Leslie and John again the next time we are in the area, and we highly recommend a stay here!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Leslie's place. She and her husband John made us immediately made as feel welcome. We enjoyed the garden, spotted deer, the kids picked raspberries and tomatoes.
The suite is in a great location to explore the wine country, and we'd surely love to stay again.
We had a wonderful stay with Leslie and her husband at the Tranquil orchard suite. The suite itself was perfect for a group of 4 adults (plus a toddler). The bedrooms were nicely decorated, with the back room having an especially beautiful view of the grounds in the morning. Leslie brought yogurt, fresh fruit bowls, granola and other goodies each morning which were delicious and appreciated! Leslie's house was very convenient to downtown Sebastopol which has many great restaurants, a few breweries and cute stores. We ended up driving into town as opposed to walking with the baby, but Leslie advised us about the free and super easy parking lot. We also took Leslie's recommendations for restaurants and an adorable bakery about 10 minutes away. Her recommendations were so on-point for our group and if our weekend wasn't filled with wedding activities we would have definitely taken advantage of more of their wonderful suggestions. Leslie was such a kind host and made us feel so welcome - even offering to whip up some eggs for our son when we first arrived and bringing out blocks and various toys for him. We would love to stay with Leslie again in the future.
We had such a delightful stay at Leslie and John's guest house! Their warm and generous hospitality made us feel very welcome and comfortable. This was more of a B and B type of experience as Leslie left us breakfast fare each morning, and even prepared our coffee! The location was perfect for our business and tourist activities in and around Sebastopol. And what a beautiful sunset from their property! Hope we'll be able to stay with them again in the future!
Lesley and John made us very welcome in their cute little property. We were not the average guests as we had come for a family wedding compared to being tourists!. The property was just what we needed and was perfect for our needs. When the fourth person arrived a day later, Lesley offered them a separate put up bed. This was all made up and ready to go when we arrived home late at night. Every evening on our return we found the lamp on and cookies/ muffins left out for us. I am positive my son and nephew ate more than their fair share and left me out of my quota! Breakfast was provided and left in the fridge and again it was perfect. I have spent years trying to convince my husband that fruit and yogurt is great together. Now that Lesley provided it ..... it is now going to be his daily breakfast!. Warning do not drive to Seabastpol.... we walked each time we needed to go and it is such a great little town. Lots of interesting shops, cafes and bars. If you drive you may miss them. John advised us to walk along Florence street and see the statues in the front yards..... great local knowledge and great to see local artist work. Yes I highly recommend this rental if you are staying in the area.
Our experience at this place was great! The hosts were lovely and easy to communicate with, the neighborhood was nice and quiet, and the apartment itself was beautiful. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.
This place is an amazing place in Sebastopol. It's central located and close to downtown. Easy access to freeway. Leslie and John are excellent hosts. They are very welcoming, friendly, and helpful especially showing us all good spots to visit. Highly recommended this place to everyone!
About the Host, Leslie
We are friendly and open-minded, and value kindness and compassion. I was a potter for 20 years and now teach special education. My husband is a psychotherapist and musician. We've raised (and evicted!) five lovely children, and now we and our teacup poodle Austin welcome you to share this peaceful space. Feel free to roam and enjoy our one-acre orchard & gardens, full of fruits, vegetables, and flowers--depending on the season! Currently, the apple orchard is coming into bloom, and the asparagus are being harvested.
