About this listing
An old Berlin-syle building ( 1870s) with a bright room for yourself, renovated bathroom and a calm neighborhood with a nice coffee bar, few restaurants, a tiny organic supermarket and a frequent public transport five stops to Alexanderplatz.
I love design, colours and unique objects and I love to travel myself. That is why I share my guestroom, which is bright, 26 squaremeters and typical for an old and original Berlin building from 1890s. The furniture is displayed on the photos, but the bed is a double-bed now, suitable for two people. The bathroom is modern and renovated, the kitchen small but functional.
Enjoy my furniture as if it was yours:. I use the room (which of course has its own door and privacy) as a guestroom for friends or as living room while its not rented. Therefore you find my books on the shelf and my favourite furniture there.
There is a functional bike waiting for you and a rental-shop down the street, if you come as a couple, and need another one.
We share the modern bathroom, towels will be provided as well as shampoo or showergel in case you need some.
The kitchen and fridge are at your disposal, too.
You can use spices and basic kitchen stuff like oil or butter. On your first day you can make yourself espresso or porridge before you go on your first grocery shopping tour.
During summer it is nice to sit in the backyard of the house or relax in the hammock in the garden.
Interaction with Guests
Sometimes we exchange recipes, music, interesting thoughts, sometimes we just respect each others privacy or have one tea together on arrival, if we feel like it.
Victoria-Kiez, where I live is a pre-cool area of Berlin, where gentrification has just started. I like the mixture of little village and metropolitan life. Down my street is a very good bagel and espresso bar, few restaurants, the best icecream in town :-) and a supermarket, which is open until 10 p.m. even on saturdays - which is not so common in germany. There a two stores selling organic food (and vegan groceries) within 5-10 minutes walk.
For the visual hunger there are two art galleries down the streets and if you like nightlife you are within 10 bicycle minutes of "about blank", "Wilde Renate" and "sysiphos", three places to be if you are into Berlin electronic music scene. Berghain is 20 bicycle minutes away.
Very frequent and straight connection to "the centre": 10 minutes to Alexanderplatz and 20 minutes to Brandenburger Tor by S-Bahn.
The S-Bahn-Stop Nöldnerplatz connects you directly and frequently with the whole city (10 Minutes to Alexanderplatz, 15 Minutes to Friedrichstraße) until 1 a.m at night. Trains run every 5 minutes and during weekends all night long (during night about every 15-30 Minutes).
There is no parking fee in my neighbourhood (yet) and depending on your arrival time it is easy to find a parking lot. In the evenings it is harder than during day.
If you arrive by plane, it takes 45 minutes to my place (both Tegel and Schönefeld), by
train 20 minutes from the Central Station.
Other Things to Note
You will be sharing the apartment with me and two cats (Mrs. Konrad and Kasimir).
I would like you to enjoy and respect the room and the flat as if it was yours. It is not a hotel, it is a home- for me and for you during your stay. It is a nice gesture if you take off your shoes in the apartment, but it is no obligation.
So far 80 guests have stayed at my place and brought a lot of interesting thoughts, impressions, recipes and shared experiences into my life! I am looking forward to every new guest.
I love nature and I try not to spoil water and energy but that does not mean that I never do long showers or a bath once in a while.
If you like to smoke you can use an open window in the hallway or take a seat in the garden.
it has been a real pleassure to stay at Katja. for the very first moment, i felt at home. The appartment is very cosy, very charming and very well located - near a metro station and very closeby the most interesting areas of the city.
Katja is a very interesting person, we have had very interesting talks about the city and it has been a way for me to discover Berlin from another perspective. Without any doubt, i would come back to Katja's place.
Just perfect! Nice room, very friendly Katja who gives you all the privacy. The neighboorhood is quiet, with a bakkery and a nice, small cafe just around the corner. The S-Bahn is nearby. I liked it very much.
The host canceled this reservation 66 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Katja's place was very cozy and I had a great and very comfortable stay with her in Berlin. The room is huge and there's lots of light and artworks, I loved it! The neighborhood was cool and safe with beautiful buildings, many shops and services also nearby. The city centre and attractions were easily reached by the s-bahn as the train station was only a couple of minutes' walk away.
If you like going for a run/walk like me, the riverside is quite close and offers great waterfront pathways in a nice area.
Would warmly recommend staying here! :)
Katja was phenomenal! I truly enjoyed living in the neighborhood, it was quiet and filled with small cafes and stores. The apartment was close to the S-Bahn, and getting around the city from her place was extremely easy. Thank you for your hospitality and I hope to swing by again in the future!!
Katja is a very friendly, open and easy going person. It makes it easy for you to feel at home. We had some very nice conversations and even went out for an icecream down the road. The room is spacious and the bed is very comfortable. It is also nice to have a couch to lounge on after a day out in the city. It is a quiet area with a quite a few young families. Katja's kitchen is modest, but works well for easy meals or breakfast. In general the apartment is shared with Kazimir and Frau Conrad, Katja's two beautiful and friendly cats. Kaskelstrasse is great! With a nice organic shop, a convenience store on the corner, a bakery opposite the house (!) a fantastic icecreamshop (Eis Winkel) down the road and several places where you can have easy and very nice meals (try: Je langer, je lieber). Very well connected S-Bhf Noldnerplatz is 3min walking distance. I had a great time in Victoriastadt neighbourhood.
About the Host, Katja
I am still digging for gold in this city and every now and then something shiny showes up: A new location, a live tune somewhere on the street or other pioneers who tell interesting stories.
