It can be said without hesitation that this flat enjoys the best location on offer for a holiday in Madrid. Practically a stone's throw away from Madrid's 3 most important art galleries (Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia), it straddles the historic Barrio de las Letras and the Huertas Neighbourhoods with their cultural offer and bustling nightlife, while being a 5 minute walk away from Madrid’s famous Retiro Park and 10 minutes from walk from the Puerta del Sol. The street itself is beautiful, lined with bars, restaurants and taverns but the flat is very quiet at night. All of central Madrid (Sol, Gran Via, Lavapies, Plaza Mayor) is within walking distance from the flat..
* 3 minute walk to Prado and Thyssen musuems
*5 Minute walk to Anton Martin Metro Station and Market.
* 7 minute walk to Reina Sofia museum and Atocha train station
* 7 minute walk to Parque del Retiro, Madrid's central park.

Other Things to Note
Different payment options/plans are available for longterm stay. Please consult with me beforehand.
Check in and Check out times are indicative and flexible. They depend largely on whether another guest is arriving or leaving on the same day. Please check with me so we can arrange what suits us both best.
Please let me know your estimated time of arrival as soon as possible so that I can be waiting for you at the flat to hand over the keys.
Please let me know beforehand if you break something or something stops working. Its the not telling me that can be a problem rather than the actual accident (which Im normally quite relaxed about) since I may have people moving in on the same day you leave and not have time to sort out the problem!
Smoking is strongly discouraged and only allowed on balcony and in kitchen.
Children under 3 years old are allowed for free (do not count as an extra guest)
Maximum of 6 guests allowed. (There are 2 double beds, a futon and a very comfortable 3 seater couch for which we can provide pillows and duvet, each of them in a separate room - however, ideal is 2 couples)
We had a wonderful time staying in Alex’s apartment. Excellent location, very safe. Many restaurants and tourist attractions were within walking distance. The apartment itself is very comfortable, clean, spacious and well equipped. Alex is a great host, always open to letting him know if everything was ok (which it was). We had a great time in Madrid and part of it was thanks to the fact that we were able to stay in such a nice place. We loved the walk in closet, the newly renovated bathrooms and well… just everything! I would definitely stay here again. 100% recommended. Thank you for letting us stay in your apartment!
This was my first time I stayed with airbnb and I was very happy about my choice! Alex's apartment is spacious yet quaint. It is extremely well located, which was nice because it was a perfect starting point to roam the city. Everything we wanted to visit is within walking distance and Alex was very helpful with advice on where to go, what to see and where to shop etc. Also, the apartment was very clean and the bathrooms seem to have been newly renovated. It is on the 4th floor of a historical building with a lift, on a lively street, although really quiet by night. Other positive points I would point to are the comfy beds and a spacious walk in closet which was very useful with all our luggage and clothes. We felt very comfortable in the cozy living room and made use of the fully equipped kitchen and dining area, though there are also a lot of great restaurants and bars on the same road. There were four of us and we were particularly happy about having two bathrooms with a jacuzzi and a hydromassage shower, since weather in Madrid was chilly. It was the perfect place for our stay. We will for sure be returning here on our next visit to Madrid. Thank you Alex and Concha for the friendly support and warm welcome!
Alex was unable to greet us personally but his lovely mother, Concha, was there to show us around Alex's apartment. She was very friendly and helpful. Alex called in later and we found him to be a charming host who provided us with lots of useful information. The apartment is in a fantastic location, very comfortable and, as art lovers, all the important galleries were very close. We loved the area as it had great restaurants and was quiet when we eventually retired for the night.
Unfortunately, I can not recommend this host. We travelled from a great distance and had a planned itinerary. Our contract check in time was 2 pm and we had booked a train to arrive at this time. My first great cause of concern occurred when the host, Alex, asked if we could change our train ticket to arrive later since he would be unable to accommodate our check in time. This, of course, was not possible for us. I suggested that he leave a key for us with the doorman or perhaps send someone else to meet us. On a positive note, he agreed to send his mother and said he would meet us after to show us house features. Despite this, he suggested it would be better for us if we simply changed our ticket. We did not change our ticket and did meet with his mother who did a good job orienting us given the language barrier. She told us, however, that Alex was very busy and could not meet us later on. This was perfectly okay since we assumed everything was in operational condition. Alex did suggest that he would meet with us the following day but only at a time that suited him. This was very difficult for us as we had excursions planned and could only meet in the morning which he could not accommodate. The next morning, the hot water was not operational. It had not been turned on. In fact, even the fridge had been unplugged showing there was little preparation for our arrival. We called Alex and he did not offer us a solution and was unable to come and fix it. He was not very empathetic to the fact that we were all taking ice cold shower. He did say that he would come that afternoon at 2pm to fix it. We stopped in the apartment to grab a few items at 4pm. The water issue had not been resolved. We sent him a message asking about it and he then told us it was not very convenient for him to come and fix the problem and tried to guide us on how to turn on the gas. In Canada, we have don't have this kind of a gas system and we were uncomfortable playing with the gas switches. He made a joke about Canada not having switches or buttons. At this point we were running late and asked him to please fix the problem. It was clear that he did not want to, so we fortunately found the switch and turned it on ourselves. We told him we fixed the problem and told him he didn't need to come. Despite this, it seemed he came anyway. This was obvious since after using the washroom, I found the toilet seat up and knew that someone had obviously been there. That was a little eerie. On a positive note, the apartment was well located. You have to be prepared to go up...
It was saddening to read this review, the first negative one I have had in the three years I have been with Airbnb! I could not personally greet Nisha and her group due to my MBA exam schedule. However, my retired mother who did initially greet them in my absence was very upset by their behavior and demeanor. We encountered a number of personal difficulties and significant hostility, and I was required to needlessly visit the flat on three occasions. I was eventually not at my most charming and I did end up offering Nisha's group a full refund if they vacated the premises - an offer they did not accept. Needless to say, no one used either bathroom during their absence (as suggested) nor does anyone have to “be prepared to go up” (?), the building having a fully functional lift. I understand, however, such statements might be written in anger to provide additional substance to a deeply negative review. On a positive note, the guests were relatively clean and did no damage to the property, so I have no reason to question their character or general suitability as airbnb guests.
Great location, friendly host, and spacious flat!! This flat is located conveniently in the center of everything: food, museums, train stations, you name it, it is probably within a 10 minute walk. The host, Alex helped us with settling in, recommended us food places, and walked us around the neighborhood. He even helped us with purchasing a sim card. The flat itself was very spacious, well equipped and good for hosting many people! Alex also said it will be refurbished soon!!! Overall, a great experience!
Alex's apartment was comfortable, airy and afforded us a very pleasant stay. Alex is very genial and amenable (and very well traveled). We had an issue with the hot water not working on day 1 and he came over and helped fix it before the day ended. His apartment is over 300 years old, so it has its period charm and quirks. My favorite quirk was the clothes line where you hang your clothes to dry. Reminded me of my childhood in India.
The location of this apartment is fantastic. We walked to Retiro Park several times. We also were able to hunt out a wonderful gluten free bakery (Celicioso) that was around 10 minutes away. Our stay in Madrid was my favorite part of our trip and Alex's apartment add to that sentiment.
Thanks for your nice review, Annu. Just a quick precision in your words which might lead to a misunderstanding: I just came over and quickly switched the hot water back on which had been turned off by prior guests on departure. It always works perfectly and never runs out. :-)
My family of four had a wonderful stay at the apartment. Alex was a responsible, considerate, and friendly host. He provided excellent communication, responding quickly to my questions prior to arrival and kept in touch during our stay. The location of the flat was ideal. The street location was quiet, though convenient commercial areas were nearby. The area felt safe, while we walked to the many neighborhood restaurants late in the evening. Around the corner is the Rick Steves recommended tapas bars area. We walked to all the Madrid sights that we visited. The apartment was spacious, clean, and sunny in the front rooms. It had two comfortable bedrooms with additional sleeping options available, good kitchen facilities, washer, and relaxing lounge seating and dining areas. The apartment's description and positive reviews are true as stated. Highly recommend.

I’m a young professional working in banking. I am often away for work and am renting out my own home in central Madrid, since I barely use it now.
It’s a place I love and is in my opinion by far the best located place in the entire city, not just on this site.
I´ll be looking forward to meeting you I will make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
I speak fluent English, Spanish and French so please do get in touch if you are interested.
