The space

Vía Verde is a sustainable off-grid house in the middle of a natural reserve, in a marvellous, low-key location: just in the entrance to Playa Grande beach and Santa Teresa National Park.

The house is 100% powered by solar energy.

Our philosophy is to enjoy peace in full connection with nature.

We also collect rainwater in a tank and we recycle the water from the sinks and showers in an artificial wetland.

Devices that use big amounts of energy, such as hairdryers and irons, cannot be used here.

This room has a toilet and a complete bathroom which are shared with room 2.

We have 5 rooms, two upstairs (this is one of those) with amazing views of the sea and other 3 in the ground floor (see our other listings) with private bathroom and terrace.

There are also several common areas with hammocks, tables and deck chairs to chill out.

The kitchen is shared with the other guests and is open from 09.00 to 23.00.
Outdoor grill (parrilla) available to make BBQs.

The atmosphere in Via Verde is peaceful, a tranquil place to rest and connect with the surroundings, so we ask our guests to respect that vibe. We love music and having a drink, but if you are looking for noise and party this might not be the place for you…

We live in the house, so we keep an eye on it all day long.

Location: the house is a 2 minute walk away from Playa Grande and Santa Teresa National Park and 15 minute walk away from the town centre. At a 5 minutes walk there are restaurants, and two markets to buy food and groceries. If you are feeling lazy, there are also a couple of pizza, Mexican and wok food deliveries.

You can park outside the house.

As for security, the house is very safe. We live here so we are around 24-7.

We have maps, brochures and information about the area and will be very happy to give you any advice you need.

We speak fluent English, French and Portuguese. And every afternoon Martin gives Spanish lessons to our guests!!

The house is absolutely beautiful in a wonderful, quiet area only a few minutes of walking from the beach. Martin is an excellent and fun Spanish teacher! The breakfast is very delicious and we felt very welcomed during our stay.

Really quiet and peaceful spot. Ideal for spending time on playa grande or in the national park. The town is further away- so this place is definitely for those wanting to be away from the night life or town.

I highly recommend staying with Martin and Rosi! It is in a very great location just a short walk from the beach, and the shops and restaurants of the town are very close, too. The room was small, but comfortable, and it has beautiful views of the beach below. It's rustic, but that is all part of the charm. Breakfast was delicious, and Martin and Rosi are great hosts. They offered great recommendations for things to see and do in the area and really made an effort to ensure that I had a great time. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet stay in beautiful surroundings, this is the place for you.

Both Rosi and Martin are magnifique! An amazing adventure that is one of the best experiences we have had in any country. And we are seasoned travelers. It is a shared eco-house environment, truly "Via Verde", with a beautiful national park of white sand beaches, dunes and a stunning view of the sea. Tranquil and calm.

We spent a gourgious time in Rosi and Martins house near the beach. When you ever visit Uruguay, don't miss this place! And stay as long as you could (we sadly had just three nights). Great views, lovely and helpful hosts, a perfect bed & a perfect breakfast in a perfect location! Thanks Rosi y Martin for everything, we hope to come back one time (and stay for weeks and weeks ;)

Our room had the most stunning view of the dunes and ocean. It was small but very clean and beautifully decorated. Food shopping, excellent restaurants and a huge beautiful beach are within easy walking distance. The shared kitchen is well-equipped and adjoins a comfortable common dining table. Lots of hammocks to just hang out and chat or read and enjoy the peace and quiet. Absolutely loved our stay at Via Verde and want to return!
