Perfect for a group needing an affordable place with space to hang out, entertain, and enjoy each other. Three floors of living space. This is the only property of its size on airbnb that's a pet-free, dedicated rental. Convenient, central locale.
*Please send me a message first (rather than a reservation request right off the bat) so we can get to know each other and make sure my place is a fit for you-thanks!*
Dwelling is a dedicated, pet-free rental property. Guests have complete privacy and the place to yourself, so you and your group can relax and start enjoying your time in Pittsburgh.
Property is over 2,500 square feet and sleeps nine (three bedrooms w/ queen bed in each, living room w/ queen sofa bed, den w/ twin bed).
The first floor has a living room (with queen size pull-out couch), eat-in kitchen, bath, and bedroom. Window a/c unit (June-Labor Day) in the bedroom.
The second floor features a kitchen, bath, two bedrooms (each w/ an a/c unit June-Labor Day), and an office (twin bed can be added here). The third floor has a living room with a walk out to a 200 square foot deck with a fantastic view of the east end. Free laundry facilities are located in the basement.
This property is not a fit for those who:
- usually stay in a hotel
- dislike being on their own (including checking yourself in and out of the property)
- feel uncomfortable in a working class, city neighborhood
- find technology (logging onto WiFi, using TV remotes, keyless entry systems) to be a challenge
Guests have access to the entire property - three floors of living space, plus the basement, which houses the free washer and dryer. There is also a 250 square foot outdoor deck, accessible via a walk out from the living room. This space is 100% private, not shared.
Interaction with Guests
You'll receive an email w/ info about parking, directions, access to the building, and lots and lots of additional info about the property.
I follow up a few days before your check in date, making sure everything is OK and to make sure you're all set.
Then - I'm pretty much hands off. My philosophy is this: you are coming to Pittsburgh to attend a conference, go to a class, attend a wedding, sightsee, catch up w/ old friends. You won't get an annoying phone call or text from me every day asking if all is OK.
I encourage all guests to call or email me if they have any questions, have a specific need, or if they require any assistance.
Are you looking for a walkable, authentic neighborhood close to everything? Welcome to Bloomfield, Pittsburgh's "Little Italy". The shops sell handmade ravioli and cannoli. The patrons chatter in Italian. It's a friendly, family-oriented, fun neighborhood. And my place puts you right in the middle of it.
The property is at the end of a quiet, safe residential street, yet two blocks to a bustling street featuring with shops, restaurants, and bars. Popular neighorhoods, including Oakland (CMU, Pitt), Strip District, North Shore (Heinz Field, PNC Park), Uptown (CONSOL), and Downtown (Convention Center) 3 miles away.
If you drive, you have access to two parking spots: one on-street, the other off-street. If you have extra cars, I can tell you about nearby spots where you can park your other vehicles.
Property is less than 2 blocks from a main bus line to get you to downtown, the strip district, shadyside, oakland, and squirrel hill in minutes.
You can use public transit to get from the bus station/Megabus stop/AMTRAK to property in 15 minutes. You can use public transit from the airport to the property--for less than $5.
Other Things to Note
I would be happy to help with restaurant recommendations, steer you to local attractions I think you'll like, all with an eye to places often overlooked by native Pittsburghers and tourists alike.
Please treat this property with respect; if something does become damaged or broken, please let me know. Maximum occupancy is nine persons, including adults and all children aged 2+. Self check in is any time after 3:00 p.m. It is self check in and self check out.
It takes me and my staff 10-15 man hours to get the property ready for the next group, who may be the checking in the same day you check out. If you need an extension in the check out time, it must be arranged in advance for an additional fee of $100. Groups who do not honor the 11:00 a.m. in the absence of a paid, extended check out forfeit their security deposit.
Property is kid friendly, but furry friends have to stay home. Non smoking property.
We rented the entire house for a family reunion Steelers weekend. What a great house! Julie had all the amenities you could ask for. The house was clean and perfect for large groups. We WILL be back! The area surrounding the house is cool, nice bars and restaurants. I ran in the morning to Allegheny Cemetery and got a 6 mile run in. Everything we could have possibly asked for! Thank you thank you.
Julie made us feel welcome from the beginning by helping me through the airbnb process and working with us to get it completed. She was very helpful even allowing our local family to get groceries and other baby stuff into the house before we came. The house was in great shape and Julie even had some toys for the kids which were a great hit. The property and neighborhood were about what we expected. It is not a "high class" neighborhood but good, solid older ethnic neighborhood going through a great transition. The family enjoyed the Columbus Day parade which we just happened to be there for. For us it was centrally located which helped.
Julie was a great host. We had a great experience. The house was clean and in the perfect location for our needs. There is a pretty steep staircase inside that was a bit tough for older folks and little children to navigate.
We had a lovely stay on Taylor Street! Julie was a wonderful host- she was very pleasant and communicative and left us information that answered any questions we might have had. The space was perfect for our needs- it was massive, comfortable, and clean, and close to everything. We were so happy to work with Julie!
House is spacious and well-located. Being in the Bloomfield neigborhood was a real plus. Materials on neigborhood, transportation, and restaurants were solid. Julie was most communicative and left lots of information on the rental.
It is recommended that overhead lighting in bedrooms and Taylor St. entryway be improved. Also, one bed appears to be at end of useful life given sag in the middle so may want to look at replacement.
All feedback from guests are appreciated. Overhead lighting cannot easily be added, but additional wall lamps will be installed. The beds are only one year and three years old and with no prior complaints. But the mattresses will be flipped and re-examined for comfort.
Thoughtful host; spacious house; homey location.
We were looking for enough room for a family reunion, and Julie's house in Bloomfield fit the bill perfectly. The keyless entry system made it easy for us to come and go, and even arrive at different times. Free parking for two cars was handy - the garage for one of the cars was nice because I didn't have to search for street parking and the permit for street parking worked fine. There were plenty of beds for all of us and Julie kindly made up all the beds and a sofa bed. There were abundant blankets, pillows and towels. The layout of the home worked well for us - we rented the whole house, consisting of two units - a one-bedroom apartment downstairs and a 2-bedroom upstairs. This allowed for a measure of privacy for us. All the rooms are pleasant and serviceable, but the upper sitting room is really lovely - the photo does not do it justice. Very open and airy, with a terrace and a delightful cozy reading nook, complete with a selection of books on the shelf. We also appreciated the toys that Julie thoughtfully left out for us, as we had a young child in our party.
The location in Bloomfield was a serendipity. I had been looking to locate nearer the University area, but there were no places there as it was graduation weekend. It turned out that the drive was short from the house to the U, and several of us did it on foot also. The house is on a very quiet street but it is only a few blocks to the main drag of Bloomfield, with many restaurants, cafés, shops and markets. We got all we needed at one of the Italian markets. It was a nice neighborhood for taking a run, as well.
Julie couldn't have been a better host. She gave us clear, simple directions and timely information and made it very easy. I had a very pleasant feeling dealing with Julie that she assumed the best of us, and of course we strove to justify her assumption!
Julie was a great host - she provided very thorough information about the property and the neighborhood. We knew exactly where to go for food and fun. This property provided everyone in our group of 8 comfort and privacy. Lots of towels and the kitchen was stocked well enough for us to prepare a large Easter dinner for our extended family. She even offered a PortACrib without us even asking. Thanks Julie!
