Check In
  • Tatiana is the best host we could ask for. We arrived late at night, she left us the key- easy to get in and we found a large bowl of fruit, coffee, tea, etc. and snack items so we didn't have to scramble in the morning for breakfast! Her place is warm and comfortable and there is nothing at all one would want to complain about, plus I wouldn't think of it as Tatiana is the sweetest person ever! The bed is uber comfortable and Tatiana even got us a blow up mattress for our four year old. You have all you need (and while there is no laundry machine, the laundromat is easily located next door and even a solar powered one up the street which I have been using). The space is clean, shower, fridge, microwave and stove top all in great working order and there is storage space for suitcases etc. The tv can be used with her great DVD collection or you can bring an Apple tv device to watch shows through wireless. Tatiana is the nicest woman and over our month stay we have thoroughly enjoyed our time with her. We were thankful that she is a pet friendly host. The location is fantastic, 1 block from the boardwalk and the expansive Lake Ontario and within walking distance to numerous restaurants, grocery and shops (even a movie theater) along the length of Queen Street. The Beaches is an amazing location in Toronto, close to downtown with easy public transit yet in a neighborhood that feels like a smaller town with large trees, parks, lots of dogs and very friendly locals. In the summer there is lots of festivals with the street blocked off at times. I highly recommend Tatiana's place!!!!!!!

  • Very cosy and tastefully furnished. The bed is really comfortable too! Nice to have direct access to the fenced back yard and great to be so close to the beach!

  • Our stay at Tatiana's was great! The location is fantastic, close to the beach, wonderful restaurants and shops. Tatiana is a super host, readily available to address any concern we had. The accommodation is just as pictured online. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

  • We had a great stay at Tatiana's place during the summer of 2013. We're a family of four (2 adults, a 9 year old and a 12 year old) and we stayed 12 days. Tatiana was very responsive before and during our stay and we had everything we need. The studio is very cosy, but it didn't feel too small and the use of the yard was nice (the yard is bigger than it appears on the photos!). There is a good collection of DVDs, the wifi signal is strong and consistent but we were out most of the time.

The beaches neighborhood of Toronto is AMAZING during the summer, it doesn't feel like a big city. Yes, you are 45 minutes away from the downtown core but for us it was a perfect area to unwind and relax. Lots of great restaurants and cafes, and a really nice vibe.

    Thanks Tatiana!

  • We arrived in Toronto and made our way to the Beach. As we drove down Queen Street , slowed and were peering at the homes on the south side to identify # 2471, a neighbor noticed us and asked if we were looking for Tatiana’s place. Indeed we were! and he directed us to parking. This is the kind of neighborhood the Beach is.

Prior to our arrival, Tatiana had arranged to leave us a key. We easily found the key and gained access to the well-appointed and adorable apartment. Tatiana was an exceptional host. Shortly after we arrived and got settled, she appeared at our door with supplies (toilet tissue, dish soap etc) to greet us and assist us to obtain a parking permit. Throughout our stay, Tatiana was able to balance our privacy with her availability. Tatiana clearly respects and cares for others and this welcoming feeling permeated our stay at her apartment.

The location was fantastic. It is on a 24-hour streetcar route. All amenities were within walking distance (grocery store, butcher, fruit/veggie markets, drug store, liquor store, great restaurants etc.). There’s a Laundromat that does your laundry for $1.00 per pound nearby too! The apartment itself was clean, cozy, quiet and we were very comfortable. In the bedroom, we had set up our standard sized play-pen for our 17-month-old daughter and we still had enough room to move around easily. The bed was indeed one of the most comfortable we’ve slept in. Our German Shepherd was also comfortable at Tatiana’s apartment. He loved the access to the back yard and the 2-minute walk to the sandy beach. He also enjoyed an easy rapport with Tatiana. The bathroom was well laid-out, however it was quite small with a toilet, sink and a walk-in shower. There is no oven so you wouldn’t want to try to cook an elaborate meal in the kitchen, but the kitchen was more than serviceable.

Overall, we would unreservedly recommend Tatiana’s apartment if you are considering spending some time in a truly unique and wonderful Toronto neighborhood with an exceptional and lovely host. Thank-You, Tatiana!

  • Very charming and comfortable unit suitable for 1 or 2. Tons of great sights and shopping very close to this suite; beaches, boardwalk, parks, pubs, restaurants, boutiques. Easy access to downtown. A great way to enjoy a visit to the city of Toronto.

  • Tatiana's basement flat is easily accessed from the streetcar - which literally passes outside the front of the property (if you're a light sleeper, this could be worth bearing in mind as it does rumble).
When we arrived, it was clean enough (although if you looked closely, there were still a few cobwebs in the corners).
The unit is advertised with a 'washer', but I think this meant 'dishwasher' - the clothes washing machine wasn't plumbed in.
The kitchen doesn't have an oven, but does have a microwave. It was equipped well enough with crockery and cutlery, although there wasn't any kitchen paper or welcome supplies left (such as coffee or tea, hand soap etc as we'd had in previous accommodations).
The TV only has 1 working channel, although there are many DVDs and Tatiana offered the use of her DVD library.
The upstairs neighbours are very considerate. Although you can hear them talking & moving about, they were quiet by 10.30pm each night & didn't disturb us.
There is a dehumidifier left in the property, and it's probably worth running this for an hour or two every day - otherwise your things can feel a bit 'clammy' and smell a bit musty.
The door is a bit of a skill to lock/unlock (unless Canadian patio doors are completely different to UK ones).
All emails sent to Tatiana while we were at the property were answered promptly, and she did offer to look after our cases once we'd checked out on the last day as our flight wasn't until later in the evening.

All in all, there wasn't anything that we felt we needed to raise as a matter of urgency/priority with Tatiana (we mentioned the 1 working TV channel & washing machine), but I do feel that we've had better value in other places - especially as we'd come from a new, modern, spotless 53rd floor unit in Downtown the week before, and for exactly the same price. The Beach does command a premium for location, so this is worth bearing in mind when looking at anything in this area.

    Tatiana (Mettā)
    Response from Tatiana (Mettā):

    Dear Niel,
Thank you for your recommendations. I am sorry that the hidden washer was mistaken as if it was suppose to be in the unit. I clearly specified in my add that there is a dishwasher, which means exactly that, the fact that I also bought a washing machine for laundry and had not time to install it, seems to have been disappointing because it was never installed, but I have also never advertised that I have a washer (please read my add-it clearly reads dishwasher).

In addition, if you remember, I accommodated you to come in at 10 am that morning, just to facilitate for you early access to the apartment, because you had to check out of your nice downtown place early, so forgive me for not cleaning up the place really perfectly, because I cleaned it for you at 7 am before going to work. I will consider your advice, and next time clean very throughly and instead make a check in time at 4 pm like other people do. It seems that accommodating you to come in at 10 am, after I had a guest leave few hours before you, just backfired and made me look like I didn't clean the suite properly. Also, I never advertised that I have cable TV, that is why there is only antenna, and I will make sure that this is clear in my description of the suite. I am glad you used the dehumidifier, yes, you were there in some of the hottest days of the summer and it does get hot and humid, that is why $400 dehumidifier is provided, and to keep my wood floors from getting damp.
And you are right, there are probably much better value in other places, new condos down town, however, there is one price you pay for being downtown, and in the Beach you pay different price for the Beach, and the luxury that you are NOT downtown in the nose of the huge city, but by the beach, where only old houses are without cement floors of the high rise, no noise insulation and yes, we can hear people next door, upstairs and downstairs. However, I am glad my tenants were great, they are nice and quite, but they have to walk on the floor.

I wished you would have told me about coffee and tea, and shampoo, because I provide all that normally, as a bonus, that too is not advertised or promised to be provided, and I thought that there was plenty of that left downstairs, unfortunately, it must have been the 7 am rush trying to clean for your early check in, and tying to not get to be late for work, so I must have forgotten to check for the coffee, tea, and shampoo. Also, typically, I have a cleaning lady doing this job, but I couldn't get a cleaning lady for 7 am, so I made the exception in your case to clean the place myself, because the previous guest decided to stay an extra day, and you needed to check in by 10, so I decided to clean myself. Although, the previous guest left the place spotless, I still cleaned everything, washed all your floors, bathroom, and changed beds, vacuumed, and so on, and I am sorry if I missed some spider webs.

I am glad you appreciated my offer to let you stay upstairs in my home for the whole entire day after checking out, and I am sorry that letting you check in early cause you to be dissatisfied. I will keep that in mind for future guests.
Thank you and I appreciate your feedback.

  • Tatiana's place is awesome and she is a sweetheart and an excellent host.

The Beaches location is a little bit out of the way, but having lived in Toronto for many years before relocating to L.A.- I knew what to expect, and I love the cute neighborhood so being slightly removed from the city center didn't bother me.

There is a kitchen and several grocery options nearby, as well as a plethora of coffee shops & restaurants. Tatiana keeps a wonderful DVD library in the apartment, that I definitely took advantage of. The bedroom is big and quiet, with tons of closet space and a big comfortable bed.

I would highly recommend staying here!

  • Tatiana was the best host. The location is just great, near Streetcar and the off leash beach. Our dog enjoyed a lot. Thanks so much Tatiana!

  • Perfect location: literally everything you might want is at most a 10min walk away. There's all kinds of stores, pet shops, restaurants, a few grocery stores, etc. All kind of pricey though (if you have a car, find a Metro and shop there, much cheaper).

Great apartment: just like depicted in the pictures, dishwasher, good shower, nice bed.

Best host: Tatiana is the best host I've ever met. Extremely helpful, kind, fast in responses and overall just a great person.
