A lovely one bedroom cottage that sleeps 2 to 4 people on a working horse boarding facility. Soak in the hot tub after riding the trails on your own horse. Enjoy a home made self catered breakfast at your leisure. LGBT friendly.
As soon as you arrive at Kiaora Stables you can feel the calm, quiet, tranquil energy all around. As soon as a horse arrives, nervous from traveling in a trailer, they immediately relax. People feel it as well. If you have your own horse you are welcome to board it here as long as you stay or are in the area. You have the option of a paddock or a barn stall or both and free choice first or second cut hay for $20 per night. The price is adjusted for longer stays. For those of you who do not have your own horse you are welcome to accompany me to feed and care for the horses and get to know them.
The cottage and hot tub are private - your home away from home. Guests are welcome to accompany me to the barn or the paddock to visit the horses. Please do not go to the barn or paddocks unaccompanied. Your dog is welcome as you keep him on a leash outdoors and I ask that you crate your dog if you plan on leaving him alone. I have a large crate that you are welcome to use.
Interaction with Guests
I will normally be here to welcome guests and to determine if they are interested in coming with me to feed and care for the horses.
The forest trails start at the end of Kingburne Drive about 2 km from Kiaora Stables. There are beautiful hiking trails to the river and to the Quarry right from Kiaora Stables. There are miles of trails for hiking, cycling, quading, and horse back riding at the end of Kingburne Drive.
A short drive or cycle takes you to Cobble Hill, Shawnigan Lake, Mill Bay, Cowichan Bay or Duncan where you can shop, hire a horse for riding up Cobble Hill Mtn, kayak in the bay at Cowichan Bay or do a wine tour at dozens of wineries. Kiaora Stables is located halfway between Victoria and Nanaimo each about 55 minutes away.
Public transit does not come up Kingburne Drive however you can catch the local bus in Cobble Hill about 4 km away which will take you to various locations within the valley or to Victoria.
Parking is included right outside the cottage.
If you arrive by plane the easiest way to get around is to rent a car.
Other Things to Note
This is a LGBT friendly cottage.
I will explain how to use the hot tub. I would appreciate guests using swim suits at the most. Naked is best! I can show you how to turn the light off outside. Please shower first to get rid of skin creams and moisturizers. Definitely no shorts or t-shirts in the hot tub.
I do allow pets but please keep them leashed out doors and if you leave your pet alone I will provide a crate if you don't have one.
This is a no smoking cottage. Smoking is allowed out doors only. Please inform me and I will provide an ashtray and a bin to deposit your cigarette butts. Please do not throw them on the ground.
The reservation was canceled 120 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Another quiet & comfortable stay at Kiaora Stables. The space is great, the hot tub is a nice convenience on a cold night and we awoke to a beautiful fresh snowfall blanketing the trees and surrounding stables. If there's one thing I would like to see improved it's the quality of the wi-fi connection but that may not be possible given the off-the-beaten-path location.
We had a nice quiet weekend. The hot tub was great. Especially when the cats came and sat with us.
Our experience with Kiaora bed and breakfast was nothing but relaxing. We were in Cobble Hill for a wedding and because we were part of the bridal party our weekend was very busy. Having Wendy's B and B to return to was perfect. We arrived later but it was all set up for us with delicious breakfasts in the fridge and freezer. Kiaora is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit and what makes it 120% is that your furry friends are welcome.
Kiaora Stables was a wonderful place to stay and relax. Wendy was kind enough to allow us to roam around the farm and visit the animals with our 1 year old son. The room was clean and the environment peaceful. Highly recommend staying here!!
Wendy is very welcoming and the cabin is beautiful! I would love to come back for a longer stay next time.
We had a very relaxing time at Kiaora Stables. The two nights and day we spent there was just what we and our little ones needed. Our two year old absolutely loved the horses, chickens, cats, dogs, and goats. The breakfast foods laid out in the fridge were delicious. We also enjoyed the hot tub.
Hi ! I'm Wendy and I'm originally from the prairies in Alberta. I've been a country girl all my life and I especially love this beautiful part of Canada. I love riding the trails in the rain forest surrounded by majestic giant trees covered in moss and lichen. Everything is so rich and lush! Being outdoors, taking the best care of all the horses that I board so that they are happy and comfortable makes me very happy.
