Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Romantic, super private, mountain top vacation home with a million dollar view on 80 acres. Two hours away from George Washington bridge, NYC.

The space
The house has natural beauty throughout with gorgeous mountain views from every room. Sit by the outdoor fire place on the deck and watch the sunset. Curl up with a book by the indoor fire place.

The house is in immaculate shape with all the luxuries and necessities you would imagine.

It is professionally cleaned on a regular basis with natural/organic cleaning products. Since I have children I am always careful to keep the house extremely clean for many health reasons.

I pride myself in being quick and responsive to help the guests with their needs before, during and after the stay.

Enjoy free HughesNet satellite WiFi for email and web. For zoom calls and video streaming we use Verizon over the air data, with good (LTE) reception at the house.

iPhone stereo plug is ready to play your own music on the stereo. It is a powerful system that can play with clarity throughout the house.

There is a Steinway piano in the master bedroom. I do not mind if you play it. Just please be respectful of the expensive instrument.

The first thing I noticed is that this hilltop hideaway is surrounded by a beautiful peaceful silence. I am particularly sensitive to sound; upon arrival, I found none but the wind in the trees. The first night I fell into a comfy bed and slept through 9 hours without interruption. (I haven't done that since the fifth grade). The house itself is impeccably clean. The kitchen is outfitted with anything and everything you could need for cooking and dining. The bath towels are thick and luxurious; and, lovely bath soaps were put out. This is a great escape for nature lovers. The view of trees and land below makes your heart swell. Every day there were groups of deer in the backyard. And on one afternoon a large rafter of turkeys sauntered through. There is easy access to gorgeous hiking: Willowemac Forest, Crystal Lake where the chickadees sung to me all the way around the lake, and the trails around Mud Pond and Trout Pond where I saw not another soul, all of which I could experience in a long weekend. "There are experiences of landscape that will always resist articulation, and of which words offer only a distant echo." Robert MacFarlane. Alfred's beautiful home & surroundings offered me such an experience for which I am grateful. Alfred's earnestness and care were heartfelt. He was always readily available both before and during my stay. There is some magic attached to this place. Maybe it's the residue of joy from the people who have had the privilege to visit. Or maybe it's the generosity of its owner who is so open and willing to share. Thank you so much, Alfred.

Where you’ll be

Roscoe, New York, United States

Our favorite activities are hiking, biking, swimming, visiting good restaurants and skiing (skiing especially is great at Elk mountain in Pennsylvania, about 50 minutes away, it’s the best mountain around)

Visit the charming surrounding towns of Callicoon, Jeffersonville, Hankins, Roscoe and Livingston Manor with their antique stores and farmers markets. Enjoy a drive through winding country roads, streams and the rivers that abound.
Visit a spa for some pampering.
Hire a guide to learn how to fly fish.
Play 18 holes of golf on top of the mountain, 5 minutes away by car.
Go on a brewery and distillery tour. There are 4 of them within 10-15 minutes.
Hike to the top of a mountain and then climb the fire tower to get above the tree line and see forever.
Bring a picnic with you and jump in a nearby lake or river for a dip on a hot summer day. Or just roll up your pants and cool your feet.
Take a horseback riding lesson or enjoy a scenic trail ride.
Go on a farm tour – nearby are full working farms as well as the popular alpaca farms where you can stock up on visits with baby animals, produce and warm winter socks.
