Our "Little Cottage" is a one-room (+ bedroom/bath) summer family cottage that was built in the 1950's. It is funky and rustic with simple decor, but it is ON THE WATER! So please do not book it if you are expecting a hotel experience. It is on the west side of our Torch Lake property, which has a beautiful, sandy, gradual beach clear to the bottom and is ideal for kids and for swimming, paddling and boating.

The space
The "Little Cottage" is ONE of our TWO simple, rustic summer cottages located on 150+ feet of pristine Torch Lake sandy beach. Torch Lake is a gorgeous spring-fed lake that reflects colors of green, blue, and indigo. It has been called the Caribbean Sea of Michigan.

Our OTHER cottage, the "Big Cottage", is on the east side of the property about 25 feet away (see pics). The cottages are separated by a grassy area with young trees. See our other Airbnb listing if you are interested in renting both cottages together.

NOTE that although the cottage sleeps 5, it is a tight space if all 5 are adults. The "Little Cottage" is best suited for a family. There is one double bed in the bedroom, and in the living room/kitchen/entry room area there is a futon couch and a fold-out single bed/cot. NO MORE than 5 guests may stay in the Little Cottage at any time.

Where you’ll be

Kewadin, Michigan, United States

The address is Kewadin but we are closest to Eastport, MI. Eastport is a very small (read: crossroads) lake town that is located halfway in between the beautiful cities of Traverse City and Charlevoix on US 31. It does have a campground 'Barnes Park' with a public beach on Lake Michigan nearby; a great restaurant 'Torch Lake Cafe' with live music; a public boat launch/beach; a full service grocery store with a full hardware section called 'Eastport Market', and a post office all within 1/2 mile of the cottage. There is a laundromat 10 minutes away in Central Lake, the next town over. There is also the famous Short's Microbrewery located about 15 miles away in Bellaire, MI.

Though I live on the east coast now, I was born and raised in Michigan and I grew up on Torch Lake in the summertime. Our cottages originally belonged to my grandparents.
