We have a great kitchen and love to share the space but expect all dishes to be washed and the countertops cleaned off when finished cooking. Kitchen closes at 10:00 pm so other household members can get some sleep.

Perfect! One of the best experiences I've ever had with Airbnb. Alleyn is a gracious, warm host and so fun and interesting to talk to. This upper room feels very quiet & private. The desk and the bit of room on the floor for stretching were helpful. Tons of space in closet, drawers, cupboards for my things. Her home is very clean & her kitchen is beautiful and well-stocked. I felt truly welcome to use and enjoy her whole home. This is my very favorite neighborhood is Portland, sweet neighborhood feeling & so close to a huge variety of shops & restaurants. Parking was quite easy. She also gave me great tips for enjoying Portland. You may be sharing the bathroom with one other person, but I didn't find that to be an issue. There were often other people in the kitchen and living spaces, but for me that lent a friendly, cozy, homey feeling. I hope to come back in the future.
Alleyn is a fantastic host, who clearly has made tons of effort into being one. She invited us to her own Christmas dinner, she treated us with Christmas tea, cookies and presents, and gave us lots of advice about getting around Portland. She is very loving. We were lucky to have lived with her. She made Portland seem brighter.
Alleyn was very warm and friendly and I immediately felt welcome in her home. The neighborhood was very walkable and close to a fantastic French bakery that Alleyn suggested we visit - it did not disappoint!
Overall a fantastic experience, I would recommend Alleyn as a host to anyone looking to explore NW Portland.
Alleyn was warm and welcoming, and the house was beautiful, clean and quiet. What a great stay!
Alleyn was friendly and so helpful. She made us feel right at home even though we reserved only the night before and didn't arrive until after 10 p.m. We definitely will be returning when we need to spend the night in Portland. Such a great neighborhood, too.
Alleyn is great host and her house is beautiful and clean! We really enjoyed the stay.

I live in the NW district close to the center of town because it is easily accessible from almost anywhere in Portland. Ten minutes from the airport. My great grandparents built homes in this neighborhood when it was first being developed and I have always loved this section of town. I moved to my present home in the Nob Hill district about 14 years ago.
I was an interior designer for many years and I also teach watercolor at the local community center.
I can't live without the ocean (an hour and a half drive from here), the mountains (an hour's drive), the beautiful Columbia gorge (1/2 hour) and Forest Park (minutes away).
I just saw the movie St Vincent with Bill Murray and loved it. Funny and charming.
I enjoy people from all walks of life and love to travel when given the chance.
