We are close in to the city in a central location with great access to freeways and public transportation. 10-15 minute taxi ride from the PDX airport.
We are near the NW 23rd district's hip coffee shops and upscale boutiques and restaurants. The trendy Pearl shopping district and art galleries is blocks away and public transportation is easy to take from here.
Some of the great Portland parks biking and hiking trails are easily accessible as well.
There is a park and a public tennis court across the street and we are blocks away from Forest Park, the largest park inside city limits in the whole country.
Near to Portland's famous Washington Park, Japanese Garden, and Powell's bookstore.

  • Wonderful experience as always at Alleyn's place!

    July 2014
  • Everything was impeccably clean and organized, there were lots of space in the kitchen to cook meals, there was also abundant space with the drawers and cabinets in the bedroom for storing your own personal items. This is the home of an interior designer and that certainly shows in the artistic and functional placement of the furniture in every room.

Alleyn was very flexible in terms of the arrival time and procedure; she was willing to stay late past 10PM to get me settled when I arrived quite late at night. She was very knowledgeable about the surrounding local area, including favorite tourist spots and restaurant spots. She had collected lots of tourist guidebooks in the dining and living room area for guests to read. She went above and beyond expectations.

The neighborhood itself is very quiet and family-oriented. The house is right across the street from a school and a large park.

  • This was a sweet little upstairs room. Alleyn (email hidden), very helpful with local recommendations. The location is close to all the great places on 23rd, but enough off the beaten path to be quiet and have ample street parking.

  • Alleyn (email hidden) and has a beautiful home....so close to the fun Nob Hill area. I really enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

  • My stay in Alleyn's lovely home was perfect. I was in Portland for two days for a work trip and she provided everything I needed, from maps of the area to the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! Thank you so much, Alleyn!

  • Alleyn's home was both very warm and clean. She has an espresso machine in which we can make our own Latte and she definitely knows Portland very well. We took her suggestion of having brunch at Besaw's which was amazing. Only a couple of walks away from Alleyn's (email hidden) to stay if you want to be nearby the awesome foods of Portland.

  • My husband and I decided to visit Portland this year and decided to stay with Alleyn after we received a recommendation from a friend. Perks about this place: it was close to a lot of hiking trails and walkable to the rose garden.

  • Alleyn (email hidden)e made sure I was able to get in even at a time that was less convenient for her. We didn't get much of a chance to talk due to schedules, but it was clear from our conversation that she really enjoys and embraces being a host. She even helped me plan a trip on public transit. The room was comfortable and was just what I was expecting. Thanks Alleyn for a lovely first trip to Portland!

I live in the NW district close to the center of town because it is easily accessible from almost anywhere in Portland. Ten minutes from the airport. My great grandparents built homes in this neighborhood when it was first being developed and I have always loved this section of town. I moved to my present home in the Nob Hill district about 10 years ago. I have been an interior designer for many years. I also teach watercolor at the local community center. I can't live without the ocean (an hour and a half drive from here), the mountains (an hour's drive), the beautiful Columbia gorge (1/2 hour) and Forest Park (minutes away). I love my new Ipad mini and am learning to use it from the smart kids at the apple store. I want to adopt them. I enjoy people from all walks of life and love to travel when given the chance.
