About this listing
This quiet, light-filled apartment is in the thriving heart of the French Concession on charming Wuyuan Road. It is minutes away from subway Line 1 & 7, amazing restaurants and the city's best nightlife. Its a perfect escape in this bustling city.
Cozy living area with comfortable couch, coffee table with many books and magazines and easy access to the western-style kitchen.
My apartment is located in one of the most iconic areas of the historic French Concession, with bustling Wulumuqi Lu and Changshu Lu on each side. On charming, tree-lined Wuyuan Lu, the apartment is hidden down an alley off the main street so it is peaceful and quiet.
Although it is in an old part of town, it is newly renovated with modern amenities like gorgeous hardwood floors, western style bathroom, large fully-outfitted kitchen, and huge closet space.
Note: This is an old Shanghainese building, so do not expect luxurious surroundings, but you will enjoy it if you like to be immersed in local culture, and observe traditional community life.
Guests will have access to the entire flat, which includes a cozy living area, a queen sized memory foam mattress bed, a bright and airy fully outfitted kitchen with gas stoves and cooking supplies.
A Japanese style cot can be made available to accommodate one more person in the living room.
Free drinking water
Washing machine + detergent

The area has a true neighbourhood feel, with a busy wet market nearby, plenty of cafes and bakeries, small noodle shops and eateries abound.
One of the best bars in Shanghai, Senator's Saloon is conveniently located just across the street. This atmospheric prohibition-era craft cocktail bar is a great neighbourhood watering hole!
Changshu Lu Subway station is literally 1 minute away on Wuyuan Lu and Changshu Lu. You can find both Line 1 and Line 7 there.
Taxis are also easy to flag all around this neighbourhood.
Other Things to Note
Upon arrival you will also receive my personal guidebook to Shanghai, 20 pages of the best to do, see and eat in the city.
Please take care of the apartment as if it was your own, place everything back where you found it, and STRICTLY NO SMOKING or the security deposit will be deducted.
Tree-lined Wuyuan Road is a short street between bustling Wulumuqi and Changshu roads. Despite its central location it feels hidden and quiet, adding to its charm.
Great place in a Great location! Ideal for a long weekend and even if it is "just" a studio, the neighborhood had many shops/ restaurants and great atmosphere . Would recommend it 100%. Jenny and Mia were also very helpful when we needed their help.
Great location in a beautiful part of the French Concession. It is a local neighbourhood which is also an expat area so you can experience the best of both worlds – plenty of local eating places (jiaozi, noodles, local cuisine, etc) and good Western bakeries, wine bars & restaurants to suit every taste and budget. All within a 10 minute walking radius. And the Metro is only a 2 minute walk away so very convenient.
The unit is down a small alley off the main road so it is very quiet. It is dead quiet after midnight so getting a good night’s sleep is not an issue. You hardly notice the neighbours except for their cooking and mah-jong playing when walking up the stairs at night! The photos make the unit look bigger than it actually is but it is still very comfortable – perfect for single or double occupancy.
We enjoyed just walking around the neighbouring streets soaking up the atmosphere of the tree-lined streets. It is great for lapping up some of the “old Shanghai” atmosphere – not touristy and no mega shopping malls in sight.
Jenny was very quick with her response when making initial enquiries and booking. We never met her but dealt with her assistant Mia who was excellent – friendly and always willing to help.
The only 2 issues that could be improved are the Wifi (so S-L-O-W at times) and the hot water (our showers alternated between periods of piping hot and cold).
We would definitely recommend this unit.
