This sweet little cabin hideaway offers all you need for a woodsy romantic retreat at the lake, from private dock and canoe (the trusty Al Dente), to covered patio, fire-pit, and hot-tub, to carefully appointed kitchen, toasty wood stove, cozy loft bedroom, and plush terry robes for two. The space
Please enter your dates for accurate pricing, and note calendar shows only available *check-in* dates until you do.

NOTE: We are remodeling Sunrise Cabin, adding half bath, closets, and dormer windows in the loft. We will post new photos and the cabin will reopen to guests in February 2021. This property will close for at least one year on January 2, 2022.

A 750-square-foot timber-frame cabin tucked into the rhodies and doug firs, with beautiful woodwork throughout, Sunrise Cabin is named for the custom wooden sunrise motif on its gable end. The cabin is thoughtfully furnished to provide everything you might need in any season, without crowding your space. Awake to sip your coffee on the peaceful covered patio, overlooking the gurgling creek and surrounded by lush greenery. Spend your day paddling, swimming, fishing, or just relaxing with a book or good company. Enjoy a glass of wine on your private dock, for a close-up view of eagles, osprey, kingfishers, ducks or the red-winged blackbird who thinks he owns the property. If you're lucky, an otter or two might pop up! The little kitchen has everything you need to cook a lovely dinner, and a propane grill is available on the patio to grill your trout. Finish the day with a hot-tub soak under the stars, and sleep soundly in the comfy quiet loft.

Guest access
Sunrise Cabin is located adjacent to The Leland Lake House, each home being extremely private from the other, with a delightful babbling brook separating them. It is tucked back off of the lake, with its own lawn, gardens, fire-pit, and hot-tub, and private dock and lake access down a grassy path along one side of the property.

The property is fully fenced (with Leland Lake House) and we welcome your pup with bowls, dog towels, and even a paw-washer.

Other things to note
We strongly support Airbnb’s Nondiscrimination Policy.

For the safety of our cleaners and guests we have enhanced our regular cleaning protocol and implemented a four-day vacancy buffer between stays through May 2021. When you check in, at least 96 hours will have passed since previous check-out, and 24 hours since cleaning. (We have not committed to Airbnb's COVID-19 cleaning protocol because it requires removing from the home all cookware, tableware, and linens that cannot be rewashed at every turnover regardless of use.)

When a COVID-19 vaccine is available and recommended by the US CDC, all guests must be vaccinated (unless medically exempt); we reserve the right to require proof.

A note on rates and cleaning fees: Our nightly base rates are set automatically and vary according to regional/seasonal supply and demand. For low-demand dates they may drop quite low. Our cleaning fee is a fixed cost per stay, which goes directly to our cleaners for their labor and supplies. We think this is the fairest price structure for everyone. (Building the cleaning fee into the nightly rate would effectively subsidize short stays at the expense of guests who stay longer.) We get that a cleaning fee that is high relative to the nightly rate may be off-putting, especially since Airbnb shows only the lowest available base rate until you enter your dates. But when this happens it means you are getting a great deal on the nightly rate! We regret that Airbnb displays only the lowest available nightly base rate, excluding cleaning fees and their own service fees, until you enter your specific dates. And we thank you for supporting our commitment to pay our cleaners a living wage.

Location

Quilcene, Washington, United States

Quilcene, Pearl of the Peninsula, is a tiny town with a big heart and a long history. Lake Leland is a small rural lake, on the edge of the Olympic National Forest, surrounded by trees and quiet homes. 5 mph speed limit on the lake means no noisy water toys, and a peaceful refuge for paddlers, swimmers, and anglers.

Lake Leland offers year-round fishing for rainbow trout, large mouth bass, perch, crappie and bluegill. (State license required. A boat ramp is located at the county park. Due to steepness of our driveway, we don't recommend bringing towed boats down it.)

Steamer clams and oysters are easy to collect near Linger-longer Road in Quilcene (about seven miles from Lake Leland).

Hurricane Ridge is only an hour and a half away. It offers a raven's-eye view of the park, high-elevation hikes, and winter fun from sledding to cross-country skiing to snowshoeing.

Nearby Quilcene Ranger Station provides maps and updates on hiking conditions for some of the most spectacular trails in the world.

Tom and I love the Pacific Northwest. We have worked hard to restore our previous hobby llama farm to wildlife habitat, and are delighted to share it with anyone who appreciates it-- of whatever species. As empty-nesters we enjoy having families in our home, and we do our best to provide our guests a restful refuge there, as well as at our vacation homes on Lake Leland in Quilcene, Washington.
