The Space

NOTE: YOUR PRICING may be lower than that listed. Please check your dates on the calendar.

PRIVACY AND COMFORT Your accommodations at Casa de Las Brisas (named for the breeze) are private, quiet, relaxed and casual, comprising one end of a waterfront retreat-like home. You are likely to encounter dolphins and ospreys, not noise or traffic.

Bedroom #1 opens out towards the water, and features a Queen bed and TV with HBO.

Across the hallway, Bedroom #2 has a Double bed plus desk, fridge, coffee maker, microwave and a safe for valuables.

Both have WiFi and LOTS of closet space. They share the private bath…a big tub with jets for a total bubble experience. The suite is separated from the rest of the house by a hallway and a louvered door.

YOU CAN RELAX. This is your place to, swim, read, go boating or just chill out. And it is your base for exploring the many attractions of the Tampa Bay area.

MASSAGE Those serious about relaxing might want a massage out by the water or inside under a ceiling fan. A masseuse can deliver everything from a light relaxation experience to a therapeutic intra-muscular event. Typical price is $80 for an hour. Best to discuss at booking time.

HAVE TO WORK? Do so in comfort and privacy. Have more effective meetings...order food and talk over lunch by the pool. WiFi, Printer and Fax available. Convenient location to all of the Bay Area. For maximum effect, combine work and massage!

Guest Access

The suite is private and we expect you to use the kitchen, living room, back yard, patio, pool and dock as much as you like. The hammock under the palms is ready any time! Come and go as you like at any hour.

EATING. We put out a continental breakfast in the kitchen and you are welcome to cook heavier fare.

Food prep is optional as downtown Gulfport is just a twelve minute walk (ok, a two-minute drive, a five minute bike ride and 15 minutes by kayak) and hosts great little restaurants and watering holes with live music.

It’s a short drive to some excellent restaurants in St Pete and on the Beaches. A 30 minute drive to Tampa opens the spectrum even wider.

BIKES. We have two that you are welcome to use. They are definitely nothing special but ardent biking guests rode them to downtown St Pete.

BEACHES. Important to almost everyone, the beaches of our county are some of the best in the world, and are just a 10+ minute drive.

The Gulf of Mexico laps up on miles of fine clean white sand. And there is no risk of starvation as beach-style restaurants and bars are spaced along your route, many with music plus locals and visitors from around the world.

BOATING/FISHING/SAILING. The location is just perfect for watersports. Launch a boat or jetski at the marina ¼ mile east and keep it at our dock. We are on miles of protected water and the Gulf is just minutes away by powerboat.

Cruisers need a comfort break from the confines of shipboard life. Anchor your vessel (excellent holding) off the dock and come enjoy the pool and a soft bed.

Kayaks and Paddleboards are rented at the marina and regularly seen gliding by among the dolphins and pelicans. Our bay is the venue for national level sailing regattas

ATTRACTIONS. Tampa Bay has entertainment and performing arts to rival any large city. Besides the world famous beaches, we have big attractions like Busch Gardens and Adventure Island, plus smaller, more intimate experiences like Sunken Gardens, the Tampa Aquarium or the Museum of Science and Industry.

The Disney complex is just 90 minutes from our door. The commute makes for a much more relaxing end to the day than does the strip of hotels in Kissimmee.

GOT ART? Gulfport creativity is on display at a variety of small (website hidden) Pete’s Art District is minutes away as are the Dali Museum and the glass artworks of Chihuly.

In fact St Pete and Tampa are regularly named #1 and #2 of Mid-Sized Cities for Art. It seems there is an art festival somewhere in the bay area every weekend….some of these are big. Art lovers will want to research this.

SPORTS. Tampa Bay Bucs, Soccer, Hockey. The Indycars start their season racing on the streets of St Pete. And have you ever watched Major League Baseball in July in air conditioned comfort? You don’t have to be a hardcore fan to enjoy that. Offshore powerboats…and more….

SHOPPING. Galleries, antique and gift shops dot the Bay Area. High end apparel is close by and not much further, we have an excellent factory outlet mall for the power shopper. Something for every taste.

Interaction with Guests

We are normally here to welcome you and show you around. Most days we are found working in the other side of the house (we publish a magazine) and occasionally we’re off on business.

In any event, you have privacy….your own space. If we can help you enjoy your visit, we will happily do so, but if you just want peace and privacy, you'll have it.

You are not 'invading our space'!! If you are new to an airbnb-style home like this, I assure you that you will be comfortable. Please read comments from other guests…it cost a bundle to bribe all those people to say nice things so I hope you’ll check them out.

The Neighborhood

The City of Gulfport is a little town adjacent to the City of St Petersburg. It is a bit artsy but, other than calling itself a City, it is without pretense.

The atmosphere is casual, inviting and gay friendly. It’s a unique little piece of Florida. An Artwalk event takes place twice a month and a Fresh Market in the street on Tuesdays. We are fortunate to have restaurants that draw locals from all over Tampa Bay.

Getting around

You can walk or bike around Gulfport. There is some public transportation but a car is best for any serious exploration of St. Petersburg, Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota and the Beaches. Parking on the premises.

Other Things to Note

Parents/grandparents with young kids should consider what hazard the pool and dock might represent.

  • We chose this property mainly based on its location since we were just staying in town for a night and wanted to be close to the activities we had planned. The reviews were great so that most definitely influenced our decision. However, upon arrival we realized we had hit the jackpot: Gulfport is a quaint little area we haven't even heard of, the house is as gorgeous as it looks in the photos, and Jonathan and Christine are 2 of the nicest people you'll ever meet. We can't wait to go back for a long weekend to be able to enjoy Gulfport, this house and our hosts a lot more!

  • We were stopping in Gulfport two weeks into a long road trip, and Jonathan's house was an amazing respite from the road. Both Jonathan and Christine thought of everything one might need, and were so thoughtful and welcoming. Their rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and we felt immediately at home. This house is in an amazing location-right on the bay-and we couldn't have asked for better hosts. We would heartily and without reservation recommend anyone to stay here!!!

  • Jonathan and Christine are amazing hosts, they did everything to make us feel in our own home, they are really kind and lovely persons. Their home is beautiful, the view and breeze from the pier are fantastic, you can’t imagine, you have to be there.

Jonathan, Nucky says thank you (Guau) for take care of him during the afternoon, he loved staying there, we loved too. We enjoyed every single time: the nice breakfast, the pool, the pier, the Dali Museum, the little town of Gulfport, the Fort Desoto Park, the glass of wine, the non alcohol beer :) and of course you two. Thank you again for all the attentions. We definitely come back again.

  • I could not have asked for anything more in a tropical getaway. The location is perfect with an expansive waterfront view. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with palms, bamboo, and bromeliads. There were plenty of places to enjoy...the pool, the dock, the hammock, the front porch swing.

The hosts were very kind and accommodating. They have thought of every detail to make your stay the best. Christine greeted me with a bowl of fresh fruit; Jonathan greeted me with a Yuengling. I had a wonderful visit and hope to return soon.

  • This was one of our favorite AirB&B experiences. First and most important, the hosts Jonathan and Christine were awesome people. They were friendly and engaging but respectful of our space. After spending a few days with them it was like staying with family (but the family you like!).

The house and grounds beat our expectations. It is hard to show how beautiful their place is with pictures. You get your own side of the house, so you feel secluded. The hot-tub bath tub was fantastic. The grounds are well maintained with lots and lots of plants. The pool was cozy, nestled in the yard surrounded by shrubs. You feel like you step into another world. The views and ocean breeze from the pier are worth the money by themselves. Jonathan laid out a nice breakfast and was very accommodating in anything we needed.

I was attending a conference in St. Pete Beach (across the bay) and going non-stop from 8am til late in the night, but I somehow still felt well rested after leaving. It felt like a mini retreat. I'd recommend this place to anybody, and hope to stop by next year!

While I was at the conference my girlfriend spent most of her time at the house, relaxing in the pool, etc.,and felt right at home.

We could write separate review of Gulf Port. It's a gem and cute little town. We had some amazing food and happened to be there during their bi-monthly art/street fair. We were surprised to see a full live jazz band playing on the street, and lots of music going on elsewhere.

Thanks so much to Jonathan and Christine for everything!!!

  • I have traveled around the world and stayed in many places and this has been my best overall experience ever! The location and view were to die for, the accommodations were stellar but the best part of this stay has to be the hosts, Christine and Jonathan. This may be their home but they go above and beyond to make it yours as well. Not only did we have a wonderful stay but we will remain friends with them for years to come. The final day we were there we even had a small gathering of friends over to enjoy their hospitality and what a send off it was. Everyone loved the place. In fact, the morning we were packing to leave, a pair of dolphins swam by their dock to bid us farewell. Can you say storybook?

I recommend that anyone who visits Gulfport consider staying here. Like me, I know that you will have only one word to say, WOW!

  • My wife and I spent a weekend at Jonathan's home celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. I could not think of a better place for a weekend getaway; we felt like we were in another region rather than an hour from home. Jonathan and Christine were very cordial hosts, and the facilities were extremely clean and welcoming.

From the moment we arrived, our hosts made every effort to make us feel at home. They were available for any help needed such as dinner suggestions, and yet we felt we had all the privacy we could want.

The location is amazing. We trailered our JetSki to the home, and then launched it from the marina 2 minutes away. The marina ramp was well-designed, and there were no issues launching or retreiving the ski. The water nearby offered anything from a fast ride to a slow time of sightseeing. Fort DeSoto was near enough to reach quickly, and Egmont Key was right beyond that.

Nearby the home is the historic downtown area. There were several fine restaurants (recommend Pia's for the food) and a nice beach to walk along. Very nice scenery and even though there was a prom in the area, the parking was available. The next night (no prom) there was parking even closer to the restaurants.

I would definitely recommend Jonathan and Christine as hosts, and their home as a vacation destination. I have the privilege of living in Florida year round, but their home was a stark reminder of how beautiful our Sunshine State can be. I definitely intend to visit our new friends again, next time I need a quick recharge.

  • On our weekend trip to Tampa Bay we only had a night to stay, but that was a great experience. House was perfect. It was a pleasure to wake up and drink first coffee on the private pier of the house. Jonathan and Christine were really kind. We had a great greeting. Jonathan gave us good advices to visit nearby. Thank you for everything. See you soon again.

  • Imagine a tropical garden with palm trees, breezes off of a glistening blue bay with sail boats floating into the harbor against a magnificent sunset. The bedroom door opens into this garden with a hammock. As the sun sets, twinkling white lights appear around the beautiful tile patio and down onto the dock where comfortable seating areas beckon you to enjoy a nice glass of wine around the pool, or at the end of the dock. Breezes blow into the beautifully appointed bedroom in your own wing of the house, which includes a wonderful bathroom with a great Jacuzzi, big enough for 'conversation', and another bedroom/office with a refrigerator and snacks and wine glasses. The home is beautiful, .comfortable and inviting.. Jonathan and Christine couldn't be more engaging. In addition to a great accommodation, we feel that we have made some wonderful new friends. As a bonus, the little town of Gulfport, just a few blocks away, is funky , artsy with great restaurants and live music, a destination in itself! Do not hesitate to enjoy this great find!

  • Our stay in Gulfport at Jonathan and Christine's home went way beyond our expectations. It was like walking into a little bit of paradise by the bay. The cozy and comfortable bedroom, the lovely breakfast, the town of Gulfport and the gracious hosts made a memorable vacation. We went in as guest and left as friends. Hope to return again soon!
