A mini-retreat on Boca Ciega Bay. Bedroom with Queen, 2nd Bedroom/Office plus Spa Bath. Privacy and Comfort, on the Water.
Close to beaches, watersports and award-winning Gulfport restaurants. Your home base to relax, work or play in Tampa Bay.
NOTE: THIS IS A 2 BEDROOM SUITE with privacy, not one bedroom as it says. That's a default setting in airbnb.
PRIVACY AND COMFORT Your accommodations at Casa de Las Brisas (named for the breeze) are private, quiet, relaxed and casual, comprising one end of a waterfront retreat-like home. You are likely to encounter dolphins and ospreys, not noise or traffic.
Bedroom #1 opens out towards the water, and features a Queen bed and TV with HBO.
Across the hallway, Bedroom #2 has a Double bed plus desk, fridge, coffee maker, microwave and a safe for valuables.
Both have WiFi and LOTS of closet space. They share the private bath…a big tub with jets for a total bubble experience. The suite is separated from the rest of the house by a hallway and a louvered door.
YOU CAN RELAX. This is your place to, swim, read, go boating or just chill out. And it is your base for exploring the many attractions of the Tampa Bay area.
MASSAGE Those serious about relaxing might want a massage out by the water or inside under a ceiling fan. A masseuse can deliver everything from a light relaxation experience to a therapeutic intra-muscular event. Typical price is $80 for an hour. Best to discuss at booking time.
HAVE TO WORK? Do so in comfort and privacy. Have more effective meetings...order food and talk over lunch by the pool. WiFi, Printer and Fax available. Convenient location to all of the Bay Area. For maximum effect, combine work and massage!
The suite is private and we expect you to use the kitchen, living room, back yard, patio, pool and dock as much as you like. The hammock under the palms is ready any time! Come and go as you like at any hour.
EATING. We put out a continental breakfast in the kitchen and you are welcome to cook heavier fare.
Food prep is optional as downtown Gulfport is just a twelve minute walk (ok, a two-minute drive, a five minute bike ride and 15 minutes by kayak) and hosts great little restaurants and watering holes with live music.
It’s a short drive to some excellent restaurants in St Pete and on the Beaches. A 30 minute drive to Tampa opens the spectrum even wider.
BIKES. We have two that you are welcome to use. They are definitely nothing special but ardent biking guests rode them to downtown St Pete.
The pool feels great in hot weather. It is small but just about long enough to swim laps. The finish is going and we will redo it soon, probably October, 2014.
Temperature: it is not currently heated. We are considering adding some solar heat. Temps in the summer are mid 80’s +, down to low-mid 60’s in the winter, depending on the weather at the time.
We use it from approx April to October but life in Florida has made us weak and soft. Some people swim in January. If successful, the solar heat will extend use by maybe a month at each end.
BEACHES. Important to almost everyone, the beaches of our county are some of the best in the world, and are just a 10+ minute drive.
The Gulf of Mexico laps up on miles of fine clean white sand. And there is no risk of starvation as beach-style restaurants and bars are spaced along your route, many with music plus locals and visitors from around the world.
BOATING/FISHING/SAILING. The location is just perfect for watersports. Launch a boat or jetski at the marina ¼ mile east and keep it at our dock. We are on miles of protected water and the Gulf is just minutes away by powerboat.
Cruisers need a comfort break from the confines of shipboard life. Anchor your vessel (excellent holding) off the dock and come enjoy the pool and a soft bed.
Kayaks and Paddleboards are rented at the marina and regularly seen gliding by among the dolphins and pelicans. Our bay is the venue for national level sailing regattas
ATTRACTIONS. Tampa Bay has entertainment and performing arts to rival any large city. Besides the world famous beaches, we have big attractions like Busch Gardens and Adventure Island, plus smaller, more intimate experiences like Sunken Gardens, the Tampa Aquarium or the Museum of Science and Industry.
The Disney complex is just 90 minutes from our door. The commute makes for a much more relaxing end to the day than does the strip of hotels in Kissimmee.
GOT ART? Gulfport creativity is on display at a variety of small (website hidden) Pete’s Art District is minutes away as are the Dali Museum and the glass artworks of Chihuly.
In fact St Pete and Tampa are regularly named #1 and #2 of Mid-Sized Cities for Art. It seems there is an art festival somewhere in the bay area every weekend….some of these are big. Art lovers will want to research this.
SPORTS. Tampa Bay Bucs, Soccer, Hockey. The Indycars start their season racing on the streets of St Pete. And have you ever watched Major League Baseball in July in air conditioned comfort? You don’t have to be a hardcore fan to enjoy that. Offshore powerboats…and more….
SHOPPING. Galleries, antique and gift shops dot the Bay Area. High end apparel is close by and not much further, we have an excellent factory outlet mall for the power shopper. Something for every taste.
Interaction with Guests
We are normally here to welcome you and show you around. Most days we are found working in the other side of the house (we publish a magazine) and occasionally we’re off on business.
In any event, you have privacy….your own space. If we can help you enjoy your visit, we will happily do so, but if you just want peace and privacy, you'll have it.
You are not 'invading our space'!! If you are new to an airbnb-style home like this, I assure you that you will be comfortable. Please read comments from other guests…it cost a bundle to bribe all those people to say nice things so I hope you’ll check them out.
The City of Gulfport is a little town adjacent to the City of St Petersburg. It is a bit artsy but, other than calling itself a City, it is without pretense.
The atmosphere is casual, inviting and gay friendly. It’s a unique little piece of Florida. An Artwalk event takes place twice a month and a Fresh Market in the street on Tuesdays. We are fortunate to have restaurants that draw locals from all over Tampa Bay.
You can walk or bike around Gulfport. There is some public transportation but a car is best for any serious exploration of St. Petersburg, Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota and the Beaches. Parking on the premises.
Other Things to Note
Parents/grandparents with young kids should consider what hazard the pool and dock might represent.
We have not found it necessary to have 'house rules'... Any smoking should be outside. Ok...that's a rule. And please plan to clean up after any meal preparations. Two rules...that's enough.
Pets are ok. Our dog, Bella, is not intrusive and can stay with neighbors if there is a problem, or if you are allergic or otherwise don't want to be around dogs.
Many of our guests are new to Airbnb and have questions at first. Certainly, if you want to know more about how it works or if you have any special requests, just send an email and we'll respond promptly. Christine and I look forward to hearing from you!
We had the most "Amazing " time at the Casa de las Brisas...Jonathon and Christine were there to personally welcome us to their adorable home. Nestled amongst the palm and bamboo trees is a Gem. A lovely home that makes you feel relaxed the moment you enter. We had a wonderful time spending time by the pool and bay basking in the sun, watching the birds fish and caught as many exquisite sunsets from the pier as possible. We enjoyed our chats with our hosts and feel a special friendship was formed. The charming town of Gulfport has many places to eat drink and listen to music. We especially loved the breakfast at Stella's Cafe. The shops are filled with many troves and treasures. The beach was great for passing the day watching the sail boats come and go in the bay. Every Tuesday there is a market downtown where artists and local farmers gather for a day of sharing their goodies. We look forward to returning to the Casa de las Brisas again for it is a magical place. Thanks Again J@C
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Jonathan and Christine. They were very helpful yet respectful of our privacy. Their home is beautiful and very welcoming right down to their sweet little dog "Bella ". My favourite moments were spent sitting down by the water looking for dolphins and watching the boats sail by. A great place to experience peace and tranquility.
The home is walking distance to downtown Gulfport and the local beaches. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay at or a better vacation. We hope to return next year.
We were delighted to stay on the bay! The home was clean. The views breathtaking and host are the best. The beds were so comfortable that we want to return again soon.
Christine and Jonathan treated us as if we were their own personal friends: warm, welcoming, and extremely generous with thougthtful snacks and drinks waiting for us. Their home is nestled amidst abundant Florida greenery in front, and in back opens up to a view of the water. We could sit at the end of their private dock and watch spectacular sunsets and had the weather been warm, we could have swum in the private pool.
From the very first contact, our hosts made certain we understood their number one goal was to make us feel welcome. Accessible, thoughtful and attentive are words that immediately come to mind. On arrival, a hand written welcome sign with our names greeted us at the front door; food in the fridge, cups, cutlery and fruit on the counter and an oft-repeated "use anything" reinforced the invitation to "make ourselves at home". This lovely and interesting couple were gracious and friendly and available and at the same time respected our privacy . The comfortable accommodations are first rate with great views and easy access to the bay from their dock. No time to use the pool or hammock but hope to do so next time. The location was perfect for walks into Gulfport and to my Mother, whom we came to visit. We'll be back!
Welcome to Gulfport! We had a wonderful stay at this special little Florida town, and it was made special as well by our wonderful hosts Jonathan and Christine, who opened up their home to us as though we were family.
If you're travelling to Gulfport for a great vibe and to experience the unique flavor of the place, hook up with this fascinating couple. The accommodations are every bit as real as they say it is. Jonathan and Christine, if you ever get to Vermont, please look us up! And if we ever get back to Gulfport and you have an opening, we'll be sure to book with you.
One expects the photos to be better than the actuality. NOT SO! These are gorgeous accommodations. Although I am eloquent , I am at a loss to accurately describe the experience in this enchanted place with even more magical hosts. This dwelling is an oasis, created by a very special energy emanating from the hosts. It's so much more than bricks and mortar. Jonathan and Christine not only opened their home to us but their hearts also. And then there is Bella, the four legged family member , who was as warm and funny as her humans. Some people go the extra mile; our hosts (and now friends) went the extra hundred miles. Having traveled the world,I am not too easily impressed with "resting places". Be assured that if you chose to stay in this sanctuary, you will be dazzled. AIRBNB Allows a maximum of five stars...our experience deserved 10 stars
My beautiful bride, Christine, and I love having guests and meeting new people of all ages and backgrounds.
A little about us...our interests outside of business include family & friends, sailing, aviation, entrepreneurship, health etc. Like most people, we care about the world around us and if we can help, we will try. Our special focus is on children.
