Interaction with guests
I am a fifth generation Tasmanian and have been in the tourism industry for 20 years.
I would love to help to make your stay more engaging and enjoyable in any way I can - but I also leave you to your own devices unless you are looking for specific advice.
I want you to make Pretoria your home away from home.
I respect your privacy and don't service the rooms on a daily basis but rely on you to let me know if there is anything you need.
Breakfast goodies and other basic supplies are provided for your first night. There are so many fabulous places to graze for breakfast (and lunch, and dinner) that are closeby.
The location is one of Pretoria's greatest assets - Arthur's Circus, Kelly's Steps, Salamanca, St Georges Church - all historic sites which give Battery Point both a vibrancy and a connection to the past - are only a block or two away.
The Post Office is next door and can provide all sorts of business services if required. They can even arrange same day dry cleaning for you.
Taxis are available in Salamanca and there are buses along Sandy Bay Road which can take you into the city or down to the casino and Sandy Bay shopping centre.
The Airport bus will bring you almost to the door in de Witt Street, a 50 metre walk to the house.
The MONA ferry terminal is a 10 minute walk from the front door.
Other things to note
Check in is after 3pm - check out 10.00am.
This is a residential area and although close to everything, it is a community where people live and work. You will find the locals friendly and very happy to help.
There is no on-site parking but plenty of free street parking for 2-3 hours between 8:30am - 6:00pm (M-S). Longer free street parking is available in some streets (I will advise on your arrival), or paid parking can be arranged.
You can smoke under the covered area in the courtyard and dispose of butts in the bin provided but please no smoking inside.
I would appreciate your considered use of WIFI as there is only limited bandwidth - particularly no downloading movies but internet access, emails etc is fine.
Respect the house and leave it as you found it - feeling loved and enjoyed.
Please turn off the lights and heaters when you leave the house.
No pets I am afraid - much as I love them .
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.

I have lived in Battery Point for the last five years and wouldn't live anywhere else. Everyday I have the opportunity to walk in one of two beautiful parks only minutes away from where I live. I love gardening but sadly don't spend enough time in my garden - for which I compete with the blackbirds. We are now on a first name basis.
I am a fifth generation Tasmanian, interested in the history that has made Tasmania such an interesting and diverse place to live and Battery Point's place in that story.
I am also a committed traveler having traveled to Peru in 2012, Northern BC in Canada last year and most recently Turkey.
I am so looking forward to welcoming you and sharing travel stories with you as well as telling you about the wonderful things that Tassie has to offer.
