About this listing
We are a teacher and a Quebecoise couple (French-speakers welcome!). We enjoy showing newcomers the ropes here, and hope to help you have a great stay in NYC! We also have special rates for long term stays!
Our house is a spacious first floor apartment with a relaxing, cozy yard (great for hammock swinging and BBQing!), a comfy living space with a couch and big screen TV, and a big kitchen nice for making a feast!
Living space and kitchen, two spaces on our homemade bike rack, kitchen and shelf space, backyard (just make sure to knock first as you have to pass through a bedroom!) and large bedroom with sheets, blankets, towels, and lots of closet space. Guests are also welcome to use our high speed wireless access.
Interaction with Guests
We're excited to meet new folks and help you manage your way around NYC. Although as mentioned before, we are working people who need a quiet space at night, we can also be spontaneous and like to meet new people. Please note that as we are busy working people, we are not always available during the day to drop off bags, etc., though we do try to accommodate when possible.
Bedford- Stuyvesant is the place to be in NYC right now! Home to many different cultures, Bed-Stuy is also replete with new and well-established cafes, restaurants and bars. Within two blocks of our apartment you'll find gourmet treats at Do or Dine, a garden cafe at the Daily Press, and innovative baking at Scratch Bread Bakery! A local laundromat is located just a block away.
We are in close walking distance to the A, C, and G trains: about twenty minutes to lower Manhattan, and thirty minutes to Times Square. We're also a quick trip by either train or bus to downtown Williamsburg, an artistic and cultural center of Brooklyn. Parking is also fairly easy in our neighborhood, although you will have to move your car 2 or 3 times a week for street cleaning.
Other Things to Note
We are two New Yorkers - a teacher and a Quebecoise (French and Spanish speakers welcome!). We are also 100% gay friendly. Long-term stays are more than welcome!
We`re early risers for work in the morning, so we need a generally quiet place at night. We also need our guests to not linger too long in the bathroom, as it is shared with three other housemates. Lastly, we expect our guests to clean up after themselves as we do - still we`re a friendly bunch, and we hope to help you have a great stay in NYC!
