Hello! We're a young couple with two dogs and a new house in the beautiful state of Florida :) Stay in our 2/2 house with us!

*** Please note that changes have recently been made to our listing. Read thoroughly before booking, please!

The Space

As soon as you enter our home through our front door, you will see a small hallway to your right. Down this hallway, you will find your short-term home.

In our spare room, we have a queen-size bed and a full-sized futon. There is also a 32-inch flat-screen TV. We have included lots of dvds, and a P2 to either watch movies or play with. Finally, we recently added a mini-fridge, coffee-maker, TV antenna, and nightstand to the spare room.

A private bathroom immediately adjacent to your bedroom door is also available to you while you stay here.

We have a lanai and a fenced-in backyard :)

*** We have recently started boarding well-behaved dogs in our home through DogVacay. At most, we can have up to five additional dogs. We normally only have two to three additional dogs. However, at times, this means that we could sometimes we have up to seven dogs in our home. At other times, we have only OUR two dogs. We only take well-socialized, to both other dogs and people, dogs. This could mean doggy-heaven if you are also bringing a furry friend with you, but I understand that some people are not comfortable with this number of dogs. Please note that we have a (walk-thru) gate that separates the entryway, your hallway, your room, and your bathroom from the rest of the house. With that being said, the dogs DO NOT have access to the guest areas or to you - unless you walk through the gate.

We previously included the kitchen as being a part of nightly rate. We are no longer including the kitchen as part of the rate. You are still welcome to use our kitchen, but please understand we are offering usage of our kitchen as more of favor than as part of our rates. Again, you are completely and utterly welcome to use anything "on the other side of the gate," but you will have to do so knowing that on the other side of the gate, our dogs and dog friends are our primary concerns :)

*** Well-socialized and well-behaved dogs are welcome. Other pets are welcome as long as they are also well-behaved and are fine staying in your room (our dogs wouldn't hurt a kitty, but they sure like to chase them).

Guest Access

We have all the normal appliances, big and small, and you are welcome to use any of them. Big appliances include a washer, dryer, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and oven. Please just treat our stuff with respect, and understand that beyond the gate in the entryway, our home also functions as a small doggie daycare.

We also have wireless internet that you can use.

We have a hot-tub, too, but it's currently out-of-commission until otherwise noted.

We just ask that you help us be environmentally friendly by not wasting a lot of electricity or water :)

Also, we take no issue with sharing some of our "food stuffs," like coffee, cereal, creamer, sugar, milk, condiments, and other breakfast items. These items will be located in our kitchen. We were leaving these items in the room, but we found that we were wasting a lot of perishable items. Sorry for the change and the inconvenience!

There is also a Target, Walmart, and mall within a few miles of our house. The Walmart is only about a mile down the road from us!

We also have TONS of books. You are totally welcome to borrow any of them during your stay, as long as you make sure to return them before leaving.

There is also a large closet in the guest room. For the most part, the closet is available for guests. There are a bunch of board games in the closest, though (which you are welcome to use).

We also provide wash clothes, towels, and bedding. There will be shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the spare room. You are welcome to use it, but we ask that you don't take any of it when you leave :)

Interaction with Guests

We will leave the amount of interaction up to you! We both border the extrovert/introvert line, so we are familiar with the needs of both. Whether you'd like to be interacting with us a lot while we are home or just doing your own thing, we completely understand and will respect your wishes. We are both used to shared housing, and we are comfortable with doing our own thing while other people are around.

While we will ALWAYS thoroughly clean the spare bedroom and bathroom BEFORE your stay, we will be staying out of your areas after you are here. If you need assistance with cleaning the bedding or towels, please let us know.

I also never realized how often you get asked this question once you buy a house, but we are totally fine with you keeping your shoes on in the house if you'd like - ha :)

The Neighborhood

We live at the end of a cul-de-sac in an enclosed neighborhood. Our backyard partly faces a woods! With that being said, you get all of the comforts of living in a quite area while still having the conveniences of living in a city!

We also live in a very safe area, so if you like to walk or jog outside as much as I do, you'll be completely fine taking an afternoon or even a night jaunt on your own (or with our dog, if you'd prefer - ha).

Getting around

While I have yet to try out Tampa's public transportation systems, a recent guest informed us that our house is convenient to travelling around by bus. There is a bus stop near the entrance to our division.

There is plenty of parking space, and if we are available, we can provide you with a ride (assistance with gas is much appreciated, though!). I could even rent you my car through a different website with a little bit of notice. It's not anything special, but it's reliable and good on gas.

Other Things to Note

We prefer the house to be 78* when people are in the house, 80* when only we are home, and 74 to 75* during the night.

Please note, AGAIN, that beyond the gate in our entryway, our house is primarily a doggie daycare. We are completely fine with you hanging out in other areas of the house, including but not limited to the living room and kitchen, but we just want you to understand that the rest of the house will not be as clean as the guest area AND there could quite a few dogs.

So, again, we are ONLY removing the kitchen and so on from our offered amenities so that people will not rate us negatively because of there being dogs in that area. You are still fully welcome to use these areas if you don't mind dogs :)

Check In
  • Amanda and Jeff were lovely hosts. The room was very clean and well-stocked, as was the bathroom. It's a quick shot to the airport if you're coming or going, and close to restaurants and shopping if needed. They were very accommodating and we would definitely stay with them again, and recommend their home for your stay.

  • Very kind and hospitable. 10/10 would stay again.

  • Amanda and her husband are nice people and their dogs are sweet. Their place is a very good value for the money in Tampa, and they have a nice big yard for any visiting dogs. The place is as represented.

  • I had a great stay with Amanda and her husband. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and a perfect base for long hikes around Tampa and within a couple miles of a movie theater, a gym, and plenty of restaurants. The room is tidy and comfortable, and you get your own bathroom which is spotless and convenient. The coffeemaker was a nice touch too! Thanks Amanda, I would definitely stay with you again!

  • Unfortunately I was unable to stay due to a flight delay but she was really quick to get back to me and offered a 50% refund due to the last minute changes which was kind. Will definitely try to stay here next time I'm in the Tampa area :)

  • Amanda's room was good for us getting in late with a kid. There's a bed for two and a futon. She was nice and you can't beat the price!

  • Amanda and Jeff are a very nice couple. They are kind, honest, helpful and have two sweet, well behaved dogs. The room is clean and comfortable, with a mini fridge, coffee maker, t.v. and it has a bathroom right next to it. They also have wifi. The house is located in a nice, safe neighborhood, close to a bus stop (Tampa's public transportation is reliable and inexpensive). Nearby are a Super Walmart, Target, and beautiful mall. If I were ever in Tampa again, this is definitely where I would want to stay.

    February 2014
  • Great place to stay. Comfortable, clean and friendly environment.

    February 2014
  • It was so nice to stay with Amanda. I actually didn't get a chance to meet her because I was at a conference and got home late/left early. She was an amazing host and the bed and bathroom were perfect!
