  • Takuma and his parents were lovely hosts. Mrs Okura makes the most delicious breakfast everyday. The location of the apartment is terrific as its very close to a subway station. It makes around 30 mins to get to most of the tourist spots in Tokyo. The surrounding area is a nice and quite neighbourhood. Would definitely stay with Takuma and his family again.

  • I stayed at the Okura residence during a 3-day stopover in Tokyo and I must say I felt at very at home. The place is a little bit cluttered than as shown in the pictures but it had that nice homey feeling to it. It is in a quiet neighborhood close to the convenience stores and train station and is just 10-20 mins train ride to Tokyo's popular spots.

The Okura family were very hospitable. Takuma was nice enough to pick me up when I had trouble finding the place even though it was already late at night. My stay was during the weekdays so we didn't get to interact much because of his work schedule but he, along with his mom, would give me tips on which places to visit and how to get there whenever he can. Takuma's mom, Chikako, is very nice and always wears a warm smile. She would prepare breakfast for me even though I slept in late and gave me detailed directions to places I wanted to see which was very helpful since I was on a very tight schedule. Takuma's dad, Masahiro, is also kind and warm but we weren't able to interact much too because of his work schedule.

Overall I had a wonderful stay with the Okura family. I really felt welcomed in their home and the tips and guidance I got from Chikako and Takuma are invaluable. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for an authentic Japanese experience.

  • An amazing kindness founded in that house.
Takuma and he's parents are a family that welcome you straight away as part of the family.
I felt great and I just regret that I went to Japan for working and had no much time for myself. If i had more time i would have definitely spent more time in the house just chatting with these kind people.

    I Warmly recommend that place

  • I stayed four nights at the Okura residence and greatly enjoyed my stay there. The family is very hospitable and gracious about offering tips and advice on getting around, making you feel welcome and settled in a really big city. For an authentic homestay experience (complete with breakfast), I recommend staying here.

  • Staying with Takuma's parents for the month was a fantastic experience and one I would definitely recommend! I had breakfast prepared for me on the table each morning, plenty of help booking tickets and asking for suggestions on places to visit etc.

The location was perfect also, it's a residential area which was nice to come back to after a day out in the busy streets but certainly near enough to the action from the station close by.

  • Everyone in the house truly treated me like I was part of the family. Since I was visiting Tokyo alone, this was quite welcomed and helpful. The neighborhood is quite quiet and peaceful, and it's easy to get to my favorite hang out area: Shibuya. When you combine this all with the low price per night, the value is beyond the 5 star maximum rating I can give.

  • Ok, if you like feeling welcome like a genuine son or genuine daughter, STAY HERE! It feels like you're instantly in a second home, the warmth of the welcoming was unbelievable.

When I checked in, Takuma was still out at work, I had trouble finding the place (my GPS wasn't working right and taking me to incorrect points) so I called Takuma directly. He answered and said he was at work, but would get one of his Parents to meet me at a meeting point. 4 minutes later His mother Chikako walks up, smiling and hello-ing and walks me back all the way to the house. It was wonderful. The whole family speaks wonderful english, way better than my non-existent lazy westerner attempts at japanese. Ha ha!

The house is cluttered, but in a comfortable 'feel at home' tidy way. It all adds to the joy of the stay. I saw Takuma a couple times during my 4 day stay, but I spent most of my time at the home with Chikako and Takuma's father Masahido. And Masahido is a gem. A fun loving smiling father, always up for a chat and a laugh. Chikako is a lovely woman, easy to talk to, share stories and hobbies and likes, it was like I had been adopted for 4 days, ha ha! It was so nice just sitting at the family table, chatting and eating, with japanese tv on in the background, feeling so welcome.

A bonus was every morning Chikako would cook breakfast for me. And if I felt like a sleep in and she would be out to work, there on the table all wrapped up was breakfast for me. Gosh what a treat.

Being a newbie to Japan, I still had yet to learn that there was a cutoff time for trains. I missed the last train one night and when I didn't come home at my usual time, bam. I find an email from Chikako just checking that I was ok, and if I needed help being picked up. It was just lovely. I was blown away. I'm amazed that this family is so good at instantly welcoming people. It was a joy to stay there.

I would do it again in a heartbeat and I was genuinely sad to leave!
    Thanks Takuma, Chikako and Masahido!

  • Very convenient location, walkable to two train stations but a rural comfy feel to the area. Takuma is super friendly and so are his parents. The breakfast each morning is fantastic and you get lots of privacy as they are usually all very busy. I got help with directions and bus/train info and always felt at home. Very comfortable for one person for sure!! I would happily stay with them on my next visit to Japan.

  • My stay at Takuma family was great. Special thanks for Takuma to pick me up from the train station, without his kindest, I probably couldn't find my way home at the midnight. It would be more easily to transfer by the Keihin Kyuko Bus-HANEDA AIRPORT EXPRESS if you will have a bulky baggage with you, it costs just JYP 1,100 for one-way fare. The most convenient train station is Futako-tamagawa Railway Station, it is just a few stops away from the Shibuya Station, from there you can easily access to many sights in Central Tokyo. Takuma and his parents are truly helpful. No problems if you don't speak Japanese. If you are looking for a real Japanese home like experience, glad you have found a right place here. Last but not least, I love the breakfast every morning. Thank you.

  • Takuma and his parents are wonderful hosts! Chikako, his mother, makes breakfast for me along with her family every single morning. These still are the best breakfasts I have had in Tokyo so far. His father, Masahiro, is also very kind and welcoming. Takuma himself is hardworking and is rarely home, but he always makes sure that I am having a good stay. Thank you. These memories of staying with your family I will keep. Everyone, if you are looking for a Japanese family experience, this is the place for you. And remember to be kind to Takuma's family. Leave them flowers. :)
