Interaction with Guests
We are warm and welcoming hosts but we respect our guests privacy. This bedroom is on the first floor and so the dining and kitchen area is not shared with the owners. If you want advice on tours and activities to do in the area, we'll be happy to arrange these for you. We enjoy having a cup of masala chai with our guests and learning about the country they come from.
Niya Nest is situated on a small narrow residential street away from the main road and so it's quiet at night. We have many other homestays in the area, in case we are full up and we will be happy to make introductions.
Our lovely little home is only a short distance from the hustle and bustle of the centre of town. There are many bus stops nearby and an information centre a five minute walk away.
Smoking and drinking are not permitted inside room.

Afzal is a very nice host, friendly and helpful. He gave us map and also recommend us places to go. The location is great very central, a lot of public buses, and walking distance to point of interests. The room is clean and neat. The toilet is Ok, if there's sink it would be better. The toilet door has to be closed all the time or else the mosquito will coming in from small window. It a little bit noisy, you can hear the next guest house chattering from your window. The breakfast was great, a little bit too heavy with the curry and all the Indian food in the morning. Overall it's OK if you are staying one or two days to explore Fort Kochi.
The reservation was canceled 14 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Extremely friendly host, great location, yoga classes nearby, but unfortunately there were mosquitos in our room and not very good smell from outside. As a whole, good value for this money.
We arrived in beautiful Kochi and were asking around in the neighborhood of the Basilica to find the Niya Nest, when Mr. Afzal came out and met us on the street. It turned out that Jezna had just given birth two days previously, and there was no room for us at Niya Nest after all! Instead they had arranged for us to stay at a new guesthouse, the Kit Kat. I was surprised, since I'd exchanged several messages with Jezna and there had been no mention of any of this until we were on the verge of arrival. Our replacement guesthouse was fine for the $22 value: great location, and luckily it was so hot in Kochi that the cold shower felt good. Definitely worth bringing mosquito repellent. Our new host arranged Kathakali tickets for us. Next morning Mr. Afzal walked us to the Niya Nest and served us breakfast.
Jezna's husband was in charge for our stay as Jezna was away. The location was pretty good, just a few blocks away from the restaurants and shops of Fort Kochi. The only problem for us--ground floor double bed--was the mosquitoes. There is a screen on the bedroom window, but no net above the bed. Also, there was no screen in the bathroom and this let in many bugs. We liked the stay for the location only.
thank you for the reviews.our bed room protected mosquito net .unfortunatetel some guest donot close the bath room door there is small from out side window mosquito coming to bed room.now im already closed bath room window mosquito net thank for valuable information
We had a really wonderful time staying with Afzal and Jezna and highly recommend their lovely homestay!
Prior to arriving to India we exchanged a few e-mails and we felt that the communication was not so easy, but don't be discouraged by a little language barrier. Once on site our experience was absolutely fabulous! Unfortunately, we did not get to meet Jezna, since she was resting after having a second baby. But Afzal was looking after us like a pro, always making sure we had all we needed, making recommendations and even just spending time chatting with us. We also loved the Indian breakfasts! The other big plus is the location; the homestay is right in Fort Cochin and we could easily walk everywhere to explore.
But the best bit was really to stay with a warm and kind local family, which really cares about its guests and wants to share local culture and learn about the cultures of their visitors. Exactly what you want when staying via airbnb. We would come again in a heartbeat!
Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!
