We have a large kitchen that includes a family lounging area. The garden room by the back door is a relaxing and cool place to enjoy meals, read a book, play table games or just hang out.
An early morning walk up any of the many hills provides good exercise and an elevated view of the villages. There is a waterfalls A walking distance away and on a quite night you can hear the whisper of its rumble. Kendu bay is about an hours drive away and you can go there to swim in lake Victoria or stand by the shores of lake Simbi Nyaima and listen to the legend of its formation as told by the local story teller. You may also want to spend a night away and visit Ruma national park where you will see the rare Roan antelope in the only place on earth that it exists. You could drive around the lake to visit the kit mikayi Rock and climb up its rugged face, and listen to yet another fascinating legend. Abach house is your gateway to Eco tourism in the lake region.
I have minimal interaction with the guests unless the guest expressly requires it. My interaction will be limited to Meet and greet an maybe farewell.
Abach is a small village of 22 homes nestled in a river valley. Everybody is related to everybody. A river provides a source of water, development, and socialisation. People love guests and invite them home for a meal. The main source of livelihood is farming.
The easiest way to travel around is by motorbike taxi, shared taxi (matatu), by car hire, or by personal taxi.
The master bedroom has a window seat which also doubles up as a child's bed. All meals will be cooked by I and/or a housekeeper
No smoking or alcohol consumption on the premises
I stayed three days at Abach house an can confirm everything is as described. The place is not far from the mainroad Kisumu - Kisii (20 min walk).
The house is spacious, about 100 sqm and lets say better african standard: relatevely simple and not everything perfect but clean, tasteful furnishing and decoration. Its suroundet by a neat garden with interesting plants.
The climate is perfect for hiking in the nice environment. People around are friendly but sometimes the children cry because some have never seen a mzungu.
The service and food was perfect, partly it reaches 5 star level.
Thank you so much Christian for staying at Abach house and for your very generous review. Not only did my team enjoy hosting you, but the villagers too were happy to have a guest from so far. I shall certainly take keen note of your suggestions and enhance the Abach House experience for my next guests.
