Enjoyed myself at Domingas! Dominga and her family are very caring. Only issue that I had was noone being there to pick me up at the airport upon arrival. However, that was quickly resolved. I miss Domingas son Lucas already!!
Though Dominga and her daughter were nice at first. there was not hot water and the ac was spotty. Worst of all I have not received my refund and airbnb says that it too late for me to get my refund. I couldn't cancel right away because I had no PC with me on the trip. plus I had surgery the next day. Now that i am up to it im faced with losing my money. I have what app Dominga and she is ignoring my messages. This has been an awful experience.
We understand the situation of Michelle, which had to be operated the next day and wasn't very relaxed. She asked for AC 24/24 when she came at home, which we can't offer due to the fact that they work only when there is electricity and here in this area the lights goes out at specific times and we can't do anything about that, and hot water, which we never promised in our description because at times there is and at times there isn't. However, generally there is electric energy for all the night, when it's mostly needed, and if not we have a generator that provides energy for the other appliances like the ceiling fans. We asked her several times to cancel her reservation through Airbnb so that she could get her refund, whether she did that through PC or phone, since it was before her surgery and was very capable to do so. She could have even borrowed our computer, if she really wanted. $266 is the price that Michelle paid us for her stay and is the price that we're refunding her. We aren't even asking the price for the travels from the airport to the clinic and from the clinic to the house. We're sorry in case we haven't been clear enough in the course of her reservation. This is a part of what we have written in our home rules: We are a large family are not professional hotel managers, if you have any complaints please feel free to talk to us and we will try to accommodate your needs. Consider that we live in a simple, small house and although we try our best to make your stay memorable we are NOT a 5 star hotel and if you look for perfection please do not book with us.
I spent two very splendid weeks in this beautiful room. the pictures shown of the rooms in Dominga's are exactly what you get, they are great! the house is in a good location steps away from the ocean. the rooms are always clean, modern, spacious and cool. the air conditioners work awesome! the food cooked at the home is a delightful bonus, soooo good! above all i have mentioned about the beautiful home, Dominga and her family are the greatest hosts and company. they are very accommodating, respectful, fun and honest. this is a place where i felt right at home and will return to. if anyone is traveling to the D.R. and want to stay at a great place, i highly recommend Dominga's!!
Dominga & her family are Absolutely wonderful, very warm, amiable, caring people. House is very clean, looks exactly like the pictures, Cesarina's cooking is amazing! I traveled for cosmetic surgery & I couldn't have had better care. Dominga & her sister Virginia accompanied me to every appointment, & even took me to the pharmacy. Virginia helped me A LOT with my after care, I will forever be thankful to her. Dominga is a Great host always ready to take us anywhere we needed, or would call a reliable taxi if she wasn't able to go. I enjoyed my stay, & because of this family's hospitality I plan to return to Dominican Republic one day with my whole family. I would recommend Giulia's B&B to anyone.
I already left a review but maybe it didn't post. We had a great time at giulia's b&b. dominga is a super hostess. The homemade marmalade is fantastic. The rooms and bath are clean, modern and comfortable. This was my first airbnb experience and it was wonderful. Dominga even came and found us when we got lost and guided us to her house and to our convention venue the next day. We were very pleased with the whole visit. I would recommend Guilia's to anyone who wants a safe, pleasant, clean and comfy place to stay in santo domingo. It is in the SD east area but easy to get into the inner city. Right off the main roads.
I had a great time staying with Dominga and her family. They are caring and fun people. We felt very comfortable staying there. They helped us navigate the community and gave us very helpful advice. We left after having a great vacation and making friends for life! I would go back in a heartbeat and would never hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.
Dominga and her whole family were incredibly warm and hospitable. They picked me up immediately even though there was a miscommunication about when my flight would arrive. They even made sure I could get around the city easily. The bedroom and bathroom were comfortable and very clean. Cannot recommend this spot highly enough!
I stayed for one night at Dominga's house while awaiting a next-morning flight out of Santo Domingo. Dominga is an absolute sweetheart. The taxi had a little trouble finding her place (it's in a residential neighborhood) and if you don't speak Spanish, language might be a bit of an issue. The bathrooms are en suite.
Dominga was an absolutely fantastic host. She offers to transport you to different locations and to the airport (for a nominal fee). She dropped us off at a fantastic beachfront restaurant, arranged for a taxi to pick us up afterward, and even gave us a cell phone to use in case we needed to get in touch with her. She arranged airport transportation in the morning, as well. Breakfast was great, and wifi was outstanding. I was sad to not be able to spend more time there (and the ocean is right across the street).
All in all, a great experience. Some issues to consider: The windows are all open and the location is very noisy, with construction starting at 9 am or so. There is also almost no water pressure in the shower. I was also a little cold at night, as there was only a thin blanket covering the bed. Finally, if you want privacy, the rooms are not soundproof and the shared bathroom might be an issue for you. All in all though, this was an amazing deal...$35 for a night, including breakfast, for two people.
Dominga was a great hostess. The hospitality was top notch, with nice breakfasts included - really good coffee. Walk west along Av Espana for good affordable street food and restaurants. You will undoubtedly meet some other family members as well. There is a third floor under construction, was a little noisy at times, but we were hardly there during the day - renovations should be done by June.
We stayed 6 nights in two different rooms and were very pleased with them, and the price. The location was nice, not a touristy neighborhood, but a short cab ride to historical downtown Santa Domingo, and you can walk five minutes for a $1.25 bus ride to Boca Chica for beautiful beaches which is about 45 minutes away, and $25 by taxi! Just a heads up if you're offered dinner, we had lobster, there is an extra charge upon checkout. Also, we speak limited Spanish and they speak a little English, but was great to brush up! Would without a doubt stay again, and highly recommend for a real family feel in the Dominican Republic!
Dominga was a great host! The room was perfect, big but cozy. The air conditioning worked, but the fan seemed to be more useful than the air conditioning. The bathroom was also nice. Both rooms looked just like the photos. The internet worked super well, better than my house in Santiago. Dominga was friendly and provided us with all of the information/suggestions that we needed! She also called a cab for us and it was there in less than 5 minutes. There area was not great, but it was really close to the Colonial Zone. It was also cheap to get into the city. The house also felt super safe, it is in its own little street with a gate! I would absolutely return.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
