This apartment is the lowest level of a very large home in a stylish neighborhood of large homes. While there are windows at two entry points, the unit as a whole is very dark (with plenty of light fixtures) and feels a bit like a converted basement. There are four comfortable bedrooms, with one of them housing a trundle bed and very tight quarters in which to unfold it. Overall, the unit is quite usable for a family or group of adults. There is an extraordinary amount of 'stuff' throughout the apartment, giving it a cluttered feeling, but the place is clean and equipped with most of the necessary parts. There is a tremendous collection of VHS movies available, and quite a few board games. Kitchen tools are a random collection from probable years of addition and subtraction, with a few key pieces missing. The location of this apartment is in a beautiful area, but one must be prepared for driving some distance to services, especially if heading downtown, where traffic is usually heavy and adds time to daily travel. The onsite hosts were pleasant and provided useful information whenever asked.

Response from Alfred:
Airbnb has 3 categories: Entire place, private room and shared room. Our listing and the dozens of photos are exactly of the premises guests receive. Moreover, we are in the city of Portland, a very exclusive part of it, as reflected in our $25,000 per annum property tax bill. We try to provide plenty of towels, bedding, lotions, soaps. We thought these would be a positive for guests to use, not "left over clutter." Regretfully, since our Airbnb hosting began in 2011, this review is the most bewildering. It appears this group has never stayed at other Airbnbs (as we have), where we spent an hour cleaning, before we could sit down, or a microwave + mini frig called a kitchen or in rooms that are so sparse, with furnishings left over from college dorms. We are truly sorry that these ladies expected to rent a multi-million dollar, 11,000 square foot estate, for a Motel 6 price. We have had groups of 8-10 people as our guests, some staying 3 or 4 weeks, who enjoyed their stay with complimentary results.

It's a very luxurious home in a very quiet, scenic location. It's up on the top of a hill that overlooks downtown. It's basically a small community in the middle of a small forest. The house is really fancy and well equipped. The beds are really nice, the whole place is very spacious, and Alfred is a really nice guy and a great host.

Alfred was great. The day we checked in he added a receiver to the TV in the theatre so we could watch the Olympics. The high definition TV in the master bedroom is nice, but we didn't bother turning on the old tube TVs in the living room. The back yard garden is beautiful. The kitchen is small for a larger group and no ice machine. The drive up the hill to the house is beautiful and downtown in only 15 minutes away.
