My friends and I had a wonderful four day stay at this lovely, well appointed home. It exceeds the beauty seen in listing photos. Take time to savor the artifacts, whimsical touches and comfort of each room. The owners' were readily available, if needed. The setting is extremely private and quiet. We feel fortunate to have found and enjoyed this home.
We just had a wonderful weekend here. The house was a beautiful work of art in itself, and a family of deer made regular appearances. I had one of the best nights sleep in a long time in their extra comfortable beds. Every detail is taken care of and this truly feels like a luxury retreat. The river was also a short walk which was refreshing. Definitely give this place five stars and will be back again if we travel to Ukiah. Many thanks!! Erin and friends.
We stayed here over a long weekend for a friend's wedding. It was lovely. Extremely clean & tidy and such a charming little location. We would stay here again for sure. The little overlook by the river and the little trails through the meadow were pretty entertaining for our 15 month old son too!
JoAnn and Ken's property is a wonderful respite from city life. Our group came up to the area for a friend's wedding in Hopland and it was the perfect fit for us. The house is incredibly comfortable and decorated with unusual and interesting art plus the kitchen (with Wolf oven and range) is a great treat! The river access is a fantastic additional bonus. We'd book again if up in the area!
This was a really wonderful house in a really nice spot. The house was well laid out and beautifully furnished, absolutely a cut above any other rental we have been in. The town and surroundings are great, especially the Vichy hot springs down the road (which was very kid friendly)
The hosts were extremely attentive to our comfort and very quick to respond when contacted. They left a very generous appointed pantry for our use.
The house is very private and calm, when sitting outside the sound of the roaring river adds to the charm of the location. However you should note that the river is not prone to swimming, the best we were able to do was sit on the bank and soak our feet.
The interior decor reflects the exquisite artistic taste of its owners and their creative vision to transform a simple house into an upscale retreat as described.
This was perfect for a weekend away from the city for a very pleasant R&R.
JoAnn and Ken were top notch communicators from the time the reservation was made and were very accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at their serene and perfectly appointed home in Ukiah.
I'm a museum director and cofounded the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco in 2004. Prior to that I owned a contemporary gallery for 26 years. My husband is a retired firefighter and served as a first responder on the Urban Search and Rescue team in Menlo Park (one of the first teams in for the Oklahoma City bombing...). Life is easier now and he spends his time in the studio, the wood shop or the garden. He's a successful artist and is thriving on the creative process, including the design and remodel of our Ukiah retreat.
We enjoy travel, great food and wine, collecting contemporary art and craft, good design and good friends. When we have the opportunity to go to our retreat, we never want to leave. We hope you'll feel the same.
