This is a little slice of bohemian paradise on a dead-end street, but still less than 5 miles from downtown Santa Rosa and Sebastopol. Come share rustic space with trees, gardens and goats down a secluded driveway, eat gourmet fresh veggies from the garden and relax in wine country!

The Space

This spot is definitely funky, as the house is older and the furnishing minimal and not fancy; but it is also incredibly unique in its bucolic rural setting and yet close proximity to shopping, wine tasting, many outdoor activities and the beautiful rugged Sonoma coast. We also are artists, musicians, chefs and gardeners and can provide delicious artisan baked goods, vegetables picked directly from the garden, seasonal herbs, any current home project which can range from homemade goat cheese, freshly picked local fruit products, home-cured olives and more.

Guest Access

The fridge will have condiments for basic cooking and the stove is gas. There are all manner of cool kitchen implements including a Kitchen-Aid mixer and a VitaMix blender for more involved cooking projects. Also there are basic utensils, pots and pans, and a coffee maker. There is an outdoor fire pit, places to hang hammocks, bicycles for riding on the many gorgeous bike trails (for a small rental fee) that wind through scenic Sonoma County. The fire place inside is old brick and very beautiful. We can also provide live music for any type of party for an extra fee.

Interaction with Guests

I work early morning bakery hours Fri, Sat and Sun 4am-12pm and have an attached but semi-private quarters attached to the house. I can be as involved (email hidden)/chef/gardener as folks would like, or can make myself very scarce, all depending on what our guests prefer.

The Neighborhood

We are an island of trees in this secluded neighborhood that is about 70 years older than the surrounding newer housing. I grew up here and know most of the close neighbors who are all very sweet. This part of Santa Rosa is definitely more colorful and culturally diverse and I absolutely love the little Latino ice cream shop called "Fruta" that is just a short walk away--they serve many strange and delicious varieties of ice cream flavors you won't find at BaskinRobbins. We have an abundance of beautiful songbirds, jays, hawks and other small wildlife that move through our area, making a day in the 1/2 acre yard as scenic as any park around.

Getting around

There are Santa Rosa city buses that run during the week and many taxi services. We are privileged to live in a very bike-friendly area with lots of accessible bike trails all within a couple of miles. The roads tend to have wide bike lanes and we have bikes here for a small rental fee--I've got 2 currently and working on having more available. The parking is off-street and very secure. Arriving from either Golden Gate Transit or one of the Airport Shuttle services, you will need either a taxi of less than $20 to get here or I can be available to help transport during my off-work hours.

Other Things to Note

This place is not fancy! We love it but realize it is what it is--no frills, just a comfy home where we'll do our best to have things comfortable. Some of the extra sleeping quarters are just a pad on a nice carpet, others are fold-out sofa-beds, or on a couch. We have lots of cool books to read. This is like an artist's retreat. Or a place to relax with a few friends away from the hustle of wine-tasting and swap some cool science news or garden stories with me and my friend/neighbor who runs the garden that provides our awesome fresh goodies.

About
I strive to be a rennaisance man...good at everything! It doesn't always work out that way, but I'm still young. So far I have been a fine-dining chef, a gigging musician, a house-painter, a friend to many kids and human children (talking about my love of goats)...I currently bake scones at Wildflour Bread in Freestone, CA and dream of living in a jungle paradise I once visited on the island of Maui.
