THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Highland Park is a part of the city of Los Angles, and is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. The neighborhood is set up in a hilly area above Downtown along the Arroyo Seco, making it feel like a smaller town within a large metropolis. It is urban, yet suburban at the same time. Highland Park is in a "Historic Preservation Overlay Zone", making it uniquely different from other parts of Los Angeles, with lots of historic houses, old trees, vast park lands, and well preserved architecture. The neighborhood is often referred to as "Old L A". There is a collection of new hip restaurants, bars, a very popular gastro-pub and other stores along York Blvd, as well as a few places on Figueroa St. But York is where all the trendy stuff is happening lately. Highland park is a haven for creative, friendly and down to earth people, and you are sure to make a friend or two if you spend enough time here. At the same time, in 10 minutes you can be in Downtown and the rest of Southern California beyond, making Highland Park, in our opinion, a great neighborhood to hang your hat!

We are warm and friendly hosts, both native to Southern California. Come experience the real Los Angeles, stay with friendly native Angelinos!

The space is exactly as described and so much more. Harvey's place is clean, centrally located, and very comfortable. I couldn't be happier with my stay. Bus line is literally outside the front gates and can be used to travel to most of the major spots in LA. Harvey is one of the best host I have stayed with. He is constantly in talks with you and is willing to help you when you have mishaps like a delayed flight. Room is spacious with its own window AC unit which is more than adequate for the LA weather. Bathroom is shared, clean, and perfect for the weary traveler. Would love to stay here again! Thanks Harvey.

Harvey and Ricky are very nice! And great dogs! We had a great time with them. The room was very nice and clean. The only small stain were the common areas a bit dirty. We warmly thank these great people!

Great friendly hosts! Lovely backyard that is amazing to hang out in and read a book or have a beer. The room is just as shown and the house is welcoming so the shared rooms give you a ton of space.

Staying at Harvey’s was a very enjoyable experience. We were in L.A. to visit family members for a graduation and Harvey could not have been more helpful to our schedule and needs. Our accommodations were comfortable and we felt very much at home . :)

I am a professional male and my life partner, Ricky and I own the house and live here together. We are both chefs. Ricky is a private chef in Santa Monica. I recently left my life long business career in catering and restaurants to pursue a career as a Holistic Nutritionist. I currently work on growing my private practice, blogging about nutrition and healthful foods, and running an on-line weight management and nutrition coaching program. We love having guests in our home and people love staying in our guest room. We are very friendly and love to socialize, and we also love those peaceful moments in time when everyone finds their own personal corner on the property to relax and rejuvenate. We look forward to hosting and meeting a lot of new people!!!!!!
