PLEASE NOTE: I HAVE MOVED OUT OF THIS HOUSE, SO IT WILL NOW BE OFFERED AS A WHOLE HOUSE RENTAL. MOST OF MY REVIEWS ARE BY THOSE WHO HAVE RENTED ROOMS FROM ME OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. ALTHOUGH I WILL STILL BE HAPPY TO HELP YOU WITH ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE ABOUT THE AREA, I WILL NOT BE AROUND TO MAKE BREAKFAST AND BAKE BREADS --SORRY ABOUT THAT. YOU WILL BE ON YOUR OWN, BUT I AM ALWAYS JUST A PHONE CALL AWAY :)
My house is a comfortable 3 bedroom 2 bath home just a mile from the beautiful Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, less than half a mile from West Lake Park, and 2 miles from the nightlife of downtown Hollywood. My home has a huge pool surrounded by lush tropical landscaping.
The house is equipped with WiFi. The living room has an older style TV, basic cable, and a blu-ray player. There are several board games and a wide variety of reading material. The house is not a good fit for families looking to stay in the lap of luxury and be entertained by state-of-the-art electronics. It is a warm and inviting home where families and friends can come together, relax, and create wonderful memories.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, an en suite bath, and a private entrance from the pool area. The second bedroom has a full size bed, and the third bedroom has a queen size bed. The library nook has a futon that folds out to a full size bed. There is a second bathroom with a tub and shower.
The beautiful kitchen is has everything you need to whip up a quick snack or a 5 course gourmet meal. Dishes, silverware, glassware, stemware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, and small appliances are all provided in this well equipped kitchen.
There is a washer and dryer in the garage (please supply your own detergent, as this tends to be a personal preference.)
In addition, the house comes with two beach cruisers and a tandem that you may use for local exploring.
Hollywood Beach is centrally located between Ft. Lauderdale Beach and Miami Beach -- 15 minute drive to both.
I am a Ft Lauderdale native, and I am very proud of my hometown. I am an expert on everything awesome South Florida has to offer, and will be pleased to help you plan a fabulous vacation.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: My home is only 4 blocks from the main bus route. The #1 bus will bring you directly to downtown Ft Lauderdale and the Ft Lauderdale airport (only a 10 minute ride.) It will also bring you south to Aventura Mall in Miami (only a 10 or 15 minute ride.) The Aventura Mall is a main Miami hub for transferring on to a downtown, midtown, or South Beach bus.
The water taxi is the most enjoyable (but not the fastest) way of getting from my house to Ft Lauderdale and Miami. The water taxi makes several stops at various points of interest, and the captain is also a very knowledgeable tour guide. As you make your way to your destination, you will view multi-million dollar homes and yachts.
Getting to and from the Miami airport can be tricky depending on the time of day because of the train schedules. You will have to take a train and a bus. My home is approximately 2 miles east of the Tri-Rail (email hidden)is trip will be approximately 1hr and 45 minutes.
Would you like to take a day trip to the Bahamas? The first ferry service between the US mainland and the Bahamas is now operating daily (except Wednesdays) from Port Everglades Terminal 1 in Ft Lauderdale at 10 am, and from Freeport Harbour Terminal 1 in Grand Bahama at 7:30 pm. The 463-passenger express ferry makes the 76-mile crossing in 2.5 hours. A same-day, R/T costs $142 economy or $173 first class. If a traveler stays overnight, a RT is $193 econ./$223 first. These prices include $18 Bahamas departure tax and a $12.50 operational charge each way. In comparison, on the same route, Bahamasair charges about $250 for a same-day RT ticket, including taxes and fees. Passport required.

We arrived at dusk and it would have been helpful to know that a big privacy hedge goes around the front of the house. It took us a couple of drive-bys to zero in on the right house. We kept looking for that bright Florida blue front door.
House was in nice neiberhood. It was quite dark when we arrived and there was no light outside, so we had difficulties to find the right house and the key. House was nice and clean.
There were not enough towels. We had to buy own.
The fridgerator was loudy and when it smelted itself there was plenty of water in it and at the floor.
Patty! You should really fix the sliding door!
Ohterwise we enjoyd our holiday and liked the house. It was worth its price.
Patty is a great host and her home was perfect for our needs. Do not hesitate to rent from Patty. This was an all around pleasant experience.
This was my second stay at Patty's Place.
This time I brought my daughter and she absolutely fell in love with this place.
She pretty much lived in the swimming pool, which is indeed well maintained.
This place has every amenity you will need. Cold central A/C, Washer and dryer, lightning fast WiFi internet and also Patty added cable TV as a great addition. She even has pool/beach toys and bikes for guests to use.
At night in this peaceful quiet neighborhood you will hear only crickets chirping.
Patty is a very dependable host and she always contacts me back in a quick timely manner if an issue arises. This is my go to place when I'm in town for vacation or business, because I know I will have comfort, peace and quiet there.
I will be staying here again!
Thank you for being wonderful guests, and thank you for your suggestions. I have purchased three new floor lamps, so guests can move them around to suit their lighting needs, another set of pots and pans, and a new toaster. I only wish I had known when you first arrived; I would have had my property manager bring these supplies to your right away. Well, it will be just as you like it should you return. :)
Very homey and comfortable; it fitted the bill for my mom, son, and I. Unfortunately, it was not warm enough to use the pool; but is kept in great condition.

I am a high school English teacher in Greenville, SC, and Vince is a microbial genomics professor at Clemson University. We like to travel during the Summer, Spring break, and Winter break. We are avid cyclists and runners, and almost always bring our bikes on vacation. We are a quiet conscientious couple in our 40s. I love having my house full of interesting people, and I am fortunate that so many of my guests I can now call friends.
