This is a wonderful, tranquil place to experience southern Arizona -- the house is right in the middle of the high grasslands surrounding Sonoita/Elgin. The room has two patios with seating, so you can enjoy either the shady courtyard or an expansive view to the south. The gravel roads on and near the property work very well for morning and evening walks, and you probably will meet cattle along the way. Renate and Rainer were very friendly hosts, accessible when needed. They serve a tasty continental breakfast, too: pastry, yogurt, cereal, fruit, and coffee.
We loved this place. It was out in the country. It is in rural Elgin on a slight rise. The scenery was spectaluar.
The room was spacious. It was precious and decorated in a southwest motif. They had a patio and a front porch. We had a clear view of the stars and great sunsets.
Our hosts gave us a good breakfast We used the laundry.
I left my shoes and our hosts made an effort to deliver them to me at our next location that was near by.
Originally from Germany we decided to settle in the Sonoita area for retirement, after living in Washington DC for many years. We like to travel nationally and internationally, go on hikes and bicycle where it is not too steep and exhausting. Living in the countryside we have a quiet lifestyle but also take advantage of the many cultural opportunities in nearby Tucson.
